  1. While you're at it, port it over to the Atari 2600.
  2. I think horses should be included, along with soldiers stepping in "stuff" wherever the horses have been. That would have a negative affect on morale.
  3. I think the armor modeling in SL/ASL was mostly okay, given the limitations of working with a hexgrid and two-minute turns.
  4. On this forum only, it means either "invincible" or "If this tank gets killed, there must be a bug in the game. BFC fix or do sumfink."
  5. No, but the original question was how they got Tigers to the front without them bogging every few kilomiters The test didn't show that Tigers bog every time they hit scattered woods, only if they had to travel through it for a prolonged time. Makes sense not to do that anyway. I don't run any of my tanks through hundreds of yards of wooded areas. Too easy to get ambushed by infantry. 6. I'll just note here that the above is contrary to both my experience and my calculations. But I'd really welcome more tests or different calculations. Just follow the the directions Steve gave, but also note when the ISU fires before retreating, and the results.</font>
  7. The ISU-122 isn't likely to hit the PzKwIV with one shot, because it doesn't have the chance to bracket the target before it either retreats or gets clobbered by the tank with the faster ROF. Thus, squeezing off a quick shot before retreating is a just a waste of ammo and the AI's behavior is correct.
  8. Tigers normally didn't travel to the front by themselves, but were transported by train. That was one of the great advantages of Sherman's and T-34's over Tigers and Panthers. The Allied tanks could simply drive to the front without breaking down.
  9. Another thing to remember about withdraw is that sometimes it's just too late for your guys. You can try to withdraw them, but if the enemy has too many guns pointed at them, they may not make it to cover.
  10. Oops... [ December 03, 2002, 03:20 PM: Message edited by: General Panic ]
  11. Propoganda is anything that attempts to sway opinions through a one-sided presentation of the issue (my definition). It's not necessarily a negative term. "Why We Fight" is good propoganda because it never pretends to be anything else.
  12. The advantage is that it gets them moving with no command delay. Keeping them alive is probably a question of supporting the retreating unit with your other units trying to suppress any nearby enemy units. Edit: I just realized how appropriate my handle is for this thread. [ December 03, 2002, 03:21 PM: Message edited by: General Panic ]
  13. I think there should be switch for turning on and off certain behaviors of the TacAI so certain members of this forum can play the game the way they think it SHOULD be played and leave the rest of us alone...
