  1. Hmmm wondering why the tanks are opening up now? Why not at the start?
  2. I fear the map is pretty narrow so will watch with interest in how you coax him into position. Do you have many zooks?
  3. Woot they let you back in!! Sounds like you had a good holiday. Let the mayhem continue....
  4. OK So I took the non Carius apporach and kept my Tigers back and hence made it easier... My approach was two Tigers far right along road as fast as possible to Overwatch road I expected reinforcements down Carius and another Tiger over watch on right on high ground that could look down into village and also 2km range to road where relief Hvy Sovs come down 2 Tigers middle apporach slowly to town 2 Tigers far left swing round and cross bridge to get long LOS through road down middle of village... In no way did I rush and I took it slow and easy.... I guess now I should play it like he did and see how I fair... Really nice to have a sandbox to recreate a bit of history to see how it plays out....
  5. NP no ball to drop as you are just doing this out of your own goodness so NP from my POV...
  6. NP IanL you are a volunteer and not being paid so RL gets in the way... Or more interesting things than trying to nail bugs....
  7. So what I reported back to Ian on 30th April I managed to get version 1.11 of engine loaded and played the exact same campaign in same way as I did with V3 engine. It proved that in the V1.11 version of DLH second scenario I got all the Panthers turn up. I.e. 5 But in V3 engine you only get 2 Panthers arrive in Scenario 2. So there is something amiss between V3 engine and V1.11 engine. As I stopped testing after proving that I did no further tests. I think it is fairly clear something is broken, but as I have other things I would rather do with my limited time I have done no more to further this... Later this year when I take a break from work my limited time levels will change and I might put more time into trying to get this sorted as I do think it is a shame that old campaigns seemed to be broken... I briefly looked at trying to open up campaign in old version 1.11 vs engine 3 and do a line by line compare but the tool Ian L kindly pointed me too, did not look easy to use and I have other projects that need my time more... I know IanL and C3K are volunteers and are just as restricted as me for free time and other things on their hit list so not expecting anything, just trying to help nudge this up the hit list for the guys who are paid.... (and yes I know they have better things to be doing as we are waiting on new releases etc....)
  8. Ok here we go... Some previous threads in one easy to follow thread... http://community.battlefront.com/topic/119304-possible-bugs-for-older-campaigns-created-with-earlier-engines/?hl=holien#entry1603178 I passed a test file to Ian and I can re-send e-mails if you PM your e-mail address? In the meantime I will update the Thread above with what i found....
  9. When I get on a proper computer later today I will re gather the links and bump them and re tie them together. I did do some specific testing with the earlier engine version for one of the campaigns and it clearly showed the issue. Again should be able to dig it all out later.
  10. Hi George, Just finished it and was good fun playing a tank battle on that map. Played it at Elite level and lost one Tiger to 21 Soviets and 59 minutes left when it CF'd. Not sure what AI plan it had but the main Sovient Heavy Tank force were whacked by just two Tigers and supported by 2 more. A bit if a turkeyt shoot and pity AI does not stop and engage as I would have not got away with that vs a human... I was wondering if I was going to be attacked further but I had managed to get Stugs beyond the point where the AI threw 3 T34's up towards the Stg starting position. Good job I moved them before that happened as I would have been struggling. The briefing made sense and it was clear I needed to keep Stugs alive else I would lose. The map is great and really nice to see this game on such a large map and something that is historically accurate (ish).... (As well as it can be...) I can see if I had chosen some worse apporaches for my Tigers it would have been more of a challenge. Sending two tigers up top hell for leather to cover right flank and the approach route of the Soviet Heavies was essential. Without that I think I would have found it harder. One heavy did slip through but I managed to get him before he got too far through. The AI attack for the 3 T34's towards the Stug position was a bit too late and I don't know what triggered that? Time or my forces in a certain location? That would have caused me more problems but I guess you need to allow the player to have moved the Stugs? Might fire it up again to see if a different AI plan will give me more trouble... As you say maybe not best H2H as human Soviet player should be able to make those tanks count and really hurt the Stugs, maybe introduce a house rule that they can not head towards stugs until they have been seen from set up position? Another thought is if the Soviets lose all the Heavys quickly can you have a varible force appear later to hit road? I am guessing there is no such trigger? And one finaly thought the briefing mentioned some reserve Tigers? Are they variable or just for flavour in briefing?
  11. Thxs George just Downloaded it now... Will comment / give feedback if you want it, when I have played it.
  12. Can't do linkies on this nexus, but sounds like bug with campaigns created in earlier version of the engine not having same units in latest game engine. Some previous threads explain the issue. Not yet resolved as far as I know.
  13. Excellent news let's hope the teething troubles are not on the same scale as the Sgt York project...
  14. If he is anything like me he will be dreaming how to defeat you....
  15. We have to be very careful what we say in this thread as I do not want to help you with what I know, so the new thread allows those watching to discuss and bet on the outcome without hurting either side... How many sleeps before the next turn...
  16. Hmmmm I have not loaded up the map but I fear for Bil, You see from what I can see I don't think it is great tank country, the off road moves will be limited by the poor terrain (boulders etc..) that and the small map size limits any easy flank moves to take on the sides of the Panthers. His height advantage might be the key if he can obtain plunging fire on the top armour? But if Doug can get the right angles he will control the floor of the valley, from the way I am seeing it at the moment... I think it could be down to infantry and smoke etc... with Zooks... Not sure how many he has? Will have to double check his force composition.... Not sure the Shermans will be able to get down that road now the Panthers are in position? But oif course I could be wrong and very happy to be sat on the side lines eating pop corn...
  17. You playing it hth? That looks JonS masterpiece? If you are then those losses are really going to hurt you, that is one hell of a scenario and tough for the German player.
  18. You learn something new everyday, I just wish I could keep it remembered.... Useful tip as I rarely use hunt due to troops getting fatigued.
  19. Yep, but like all things you have competing issues and priorities with limited resources, so I guess did not get to top of list to do?
  20. If it was me and I had not processed the turn I would be OK with using the updated one. I think the title of the thread is spot on, especially as you are going over map closely outside this game. NP from my POV as it is a game.... I rarely play QB's as the limited gaming time I get is invested into scenarios usually playing double blind, so your level of "research" would be wrong. But for QB's it seems fine IMO.
  21. Bud I have been rereading this several times and I think your dyslexia kicked in and you are saying you prefer a Tiger? I quite like the Panther but as I do not play QB's I have no idea of the cost difference between Panther and Tiger?
  22. You have two weeks to really get to grips with the map and the forces, from your comments I would guess you will be using it wisely?
  23. Yep... Be worried, but could not say that in my previous comment, glad you have done some checking as angles very very important for the Panther!!!
