Yes for anyone reading this have a look at their great web site and you can get an idea of how balanced scenario's might be. I really should renew my membership and start putting results on their, but only playing one PBEM game at a time with usually the same Oppo is not ideal for the club I guess...

Well just finished this (or more precisely my oppo Surrendered) I enjoyed it and played as the Germans my oppo enjoyed it but thought it was a tad biased to German player. We were around the 1 hour mark in and when we checked the CF option it was actually showing as a draw... So I think it is balanced and worth a play. Just give stronger player the Soviets. Thanks for giving me the heads up on it. I think we might replay it so I can see if I can win as Soviets... Of course if I can not then it will be obvious unbalanced!!

Slysniper has it nailed IMO. Again wishful thinking I echo his view that there is a market for something in another direction which moves back towards CMBB, but in a manner that allows the developer to keep the cash flow moving. I really enjoy CMRT, CMBN etc, but the level of investment in time and skill is very high. I can really only at the moment play a couple of pbems. I just feel there is room for something lighter...

This is an ongoing issue for all the family of games and there is no simple solution. Currently I am playing a pbem and the los issue has hit both players numerous times. My oppo is cursing it as he can not understand why I have hit him when he claims the los tool said I should not be able to. The only answer is for players to reset their expectations. To have trees on and look at low level and see what can be seen. This takes time and unless you invest this time you are liable to be frustrated. Funny how this ties into CMBB and how that worked as a game. Every game system has it strengths and weakness.

It's like stepping back in time around here... I too would love CMBB updated but it is not going to happen, we were very lucky to have got it and CM. Enjoy the moment and let's hope those moments keep happening. Lot's of good points and always fun to read the considered posts.

Still don't see how you pay 46% the rate is 40% and only on the amount above the threshold.... That puts you close to the top 10% of earners in the UK. Also by paying yourself Dividends you are avoiding (depending on how much you take) the 40% tax rate and only being taxed 20% and Russia taxes companies profits at 13%? All companies (unless you are Amazon and Apple et al) pay taxes to the country they gain their profit from.... (refer back to my comments about the UK spending more than it is taking in as taxes)... I get what point you are trying to make comparted to Russian but you are being very liberal with your examples and it is not supporting your point IMO... BTW good to know you are paying taxes as our defence budget will be going up....

Hmm this is wrong on so many levels... (Oranges and concrete comes to mind as you are not even in the realms of comparing fruit...) 1. You have far more freedom in this country to express your beliefs as long as they do not include violence to other groups and are against the principals of law. Currently we even tolerate preachers who epose radical Islam? 2. You then say that you want better economical advantage and in the other breath say that is better in Russia? 3. In Regards to the political parties again so far from the mark I am wondering what realm you live in. The last parliament was hung and no one party won. I guess some peoples votes counted? Then two parties formed a govt and compromises were made so clearly each party had to give ground? I would like to see Russia run like that? 4. Taxes going up? Nope not happened yet (but hey we spend more than we get so I guess we need to start getting more money in as a country - so I would guess that might be true statement soon) 5. National Health service a joke? Hmm free health care not a joke to those trying to get into the UK. BTW did I mention we are spending more than we take in as taxes so what is going to give? 6. Yep 2 million people freely protested against the war, but the country had debates and the polls clearly showed their was a majority in favour. Of course hindsight has proved that majority wrong myself included. 7. I guess increased security measures around our Parliament is something to be expected when you consider the threat levels. Speakers corner is open for all to protest at and Pussy Riot in the UK would not end up in jail for singing in a church...

Hmmm I think you live in a different country 50%!! 40% Tax rate if you earn over £42k which is not the vast majority of the country. For the vast majority it is 20% and could be a lot less if you are a low earner. The company does get taxed for NICS and that is to contribute to the health service which is all free for UK citizens. At least the employees do not pay for that... Yes there is a council tax but I guess you want police, bins emptied and local servicers like buses and swimming pools etc... As for Death duty that only hits if yoiur house is worth £325k and again not many people fall into that. There are ways to reduce it legally... I would guess our taxes will be going up soon to pay for extra jets to escort lost Russian war planes.... Funny how they keep getting lost...

Watching the ww2 soviet kit was interesting. What was more interesting was looking at the faces of the crowd in that video. Compare it to the crowd in the West. Surely not just down to being wet and cold?

Thanks for the suggestion I will have to find that as it is not on disc. Play that one with stronger player taking Germans and with the knowledge that it can be a tough one for the Germans if they try to duke it out with the Russians... I have noticed that guns do not say deploying as well, in cmbn and while they do, it can be confusing if you don't get the text confirming it.

Hi PanzerMike Many Thanks very much for the scenario and I gave it a worl this last weekend. I need a bit of a challenge and despite the Victory it certainly stretched me at the start and middle of the game and at one point I was seriously cursing the designer (in a good way...) I played Turn Based at Elite level and I did not read the thread before hand, I have just read it and realised I could have put TRP where I wanted it, I only spotted it while playing the game, so much for advance recon of map... Dohh!! + Overall a cracking scenario and a tough challenge if you need a bit of solo action this scenario is one to pick up and test your skills...

My bet is the bridge bug, that has been an issue for a long time and perhaps not that easy to fix.

Hi Thanks for the responses so far.. No I have not tried V2 engine but depending on time and activations I might or might not try that version to see if it is different. Ian has offered to send my test files up the chain and I hope to get them over to him today with a better explanation of what I have done. I guess if anyone has a V2 Engine we could try loading my saved V1.11 engine files and see what happens... I might get time this weekend to do some more testing and will maybe see what happens if I load my V1.11 saved game into the V3 engine... Also Ian has said he will send me link to campaign tool (that or I use google fuu / RTFM) when I get time to find it... I plan to see if I can use it to look at V1.11 Scottish Corridor files and see what is missing compared to V3. As mentioned it could be a ToE issue or maybe an engine issue, not really sure. Also I think it might be only affecting a small number of the campaigns and secnarios within the campaign as I have not seen that many notes... It could also be that people know no better and hence don't spot the issue? That tied into a small pool of people playing campaigns as CMBS seems to have the larger polayer base at the moment?

Yes would be nice as I am now pretty certain something is up... Just finally had time to play DLH and get to second mission again playing same as I did with V3 of the engine but this time on V1.11 and I only got 2 Panthers in V3 Engine but in V1.11 I got all 5. So I am pretty certain something is up and will now stop playing DLH until we get to bottom of it. (I guess I need to move to Black Sea as there will be some cracking campaigns with that game). I have Saved files in V3 and V1.11 and can share with who needs them... Scottish Corridor is IMO the best ever Campaign I have played and to lose kit in a campaign that was in effect published by Battlefront as it was issued as part of the CW Module I would hope they can look at that? Can the players who have reported the issue provide save files? I can raise a ticket for DLH if that is the right way to go about it? So far these issues only seem to relate to Campaigns but I would guess some scenarios might be nerfed by missing kit but how you tell is beyond me and could just make it more of a challenge?

Thanks Ian.. I have now had time tonight to set up fresh install of V1.11 of CMBN with the CW module loaded so I can check Scottish Corridor at some stage. Next task is to play through DLH Campaign and see if my tanks are available in the follow on scenarios, if they are I hope that is case proven and it might then garner some love from Battlefront. Scottish Corridor I forgot was released with the CW module so if that is missing 6pdrs and was part of the module then that really IMO should be fixed by Battlefront as was released by them. Again not proven to me but there has been enough comments from other players that seem to show it has been broken... Anyway another update if DIY and garden work does not get in way...

BTW the game can be played without the tweak. Makes for some interesting choices. See thread about it but it does have spoilers.

Point 1 is the first I will try and crack. I need to dig out thread that explains how to have different engines set up. I used to have it set up but new PC nuked all my old set ups and I had serious headache getting games to play. Once I have the engines loaded I need to play through the campaign to see if they do carry through as has been implied by others on the other threads. Hope to try and get time for that attempt at the weekend, depending on the boss and dig workload.

Just played Amfreville and what a cracker IMO. This scenario if you like large maps is a beauty. Map based on real area just off the beaches and real situation. Seemed OK for balance IMO but I did get Major victory and my oppo thought he had short end of the stick... I would love to play it from German POV if anyone out there wants a crack at it. Obviously open it up as now I have played it I know exactly what the Allies get. I do think it still can be played agin as lots of choices for both players to make. Highly recommended from my POV...

Overall I think this is shocking and I am surprised more has not been said about it. I guess maybe the number of people still playing the older campaigns are not that many and so not seen as an issue? It is shame that people put time into playing a campaign and then find it is broken especially the larger ones... Imagine not having the 6pdrs to stave of the Tigers in a certain campaign... I remember that moment and the sheer joy of winning the scenario... Lost to other players?

Thanks for the description on how to do it... I will have to learn how to do that as I can not allow any of the great campaigns to be nerfed by engine upgrades. The effort that the designers put into it should live on and not die... I wonder if there is an easy way to know what is missing? I guess I need to re-open campaign in v1 engine alongside v3 to see if I can spot differences? No wonder designers do not want to go back to all that hard effort and try and work out what has changed... I wonder if Battlefront could be persuaded to change way Campaigns are baked so that once cooked they stay frozen (wrong metaphor..)
