  1. It's no problem with me Kingfish...gives me more time to do my AAR's! Regards Jim R.
  2. There is a definite problem in ver. 1.02 under EFOW where King Tigers are always mis-identified as normal Tigers despite the complete dissimilarity of appearance. If anything they should be mis-identified as Panthers as they are a much more similar looking AFV. The other annoying thing is that they stay mis-identified until the damn King Tigers are virtually driving over the top of your troops no matter how many HQ's & MG units with binnoculars you have peering at them at under 200 metres distance. In this case the noise of the gun firing does not give away what sort of tank it is because it's still an 88 firing. Regards Jim R.
  3. While I think of it, has anyone done a mod similar to CMBO for the neutral flag marker to get rid of that overpowering giant question mark? I had a mod for CMBO which simply kept the grey flag but had the word "Objective" on it. Much better looking and intuitive than a gigantic question mark IMHO. Regards Jim R.
  4. Yep, same here. It's working fine even for my crappier GeForce 3 Ti200 card despite it allegedly not being suitable for Windows XP. 'm certainly glad I bothered with the download. Regards Jim R.
  5. Yes, compared with the mighty Bob Semple tank (shearing shed on tracks), that tank is a veritable Iowa class battleship. Regards Jim R.
  6. Marshie may well have done. The Poms need to do something to fire themselves up in the big games. The funny thing is, back when Marsh was playing for Australia he was apparently the biggest Pommie basher in the whole side. Go figure. Regards Jim R.
  7. Yes, well done to the West Indies. BTW, what was the series score again? Regards Jim R.
  8. G'day H. From what I've seen on Kingfish's special BBS site I'd say you have it in the bag, put down your glasses, all over red rover etc, etc, etc. That huge win in Rearguard Action will earn you mega points and all your other games bar just the one were very handy victories for you as well. You'll romp it in so my hearty congratulations. It still wont stop me from doing AAR's mind you, just not quite as long as the one I did for Emilville Exit. Regards Jim R.
  9. I completely agree with you on this Combined Arms. I assume you noticed the problem when playing the ROW III game of King of Debrecen? It reached the point of the ridiculous where you just knew those German tanks would be King Tigers but the game kept insisting they were simply plain vanilla Tigers. No matter how many units (including numerous MG's and HQ's all with binnoculars) could see the damn tanks in plain sight and sometimes under 100 metres distance they never ever identified them properly. Sounds like a small bug to me. Regards Jim R.
  10. Personally, I don't think those silly khaki uniforms, with shorts, green gaiters on pulled up socks, Canadian Mountie hats and a bunch of different coloured badges on the sleeves would look right in CMBB. What would they be armed with...Swiss army knives? Regards Jim R.
  11. IIRC, Sergio said in a previous post that participants have 1 week after the 15 May deadline to submit AAR's. I'll need all of it to complete mine! BTW, King of Debrecen is now finished so I'm all done. Thanks to Treeburst and then Kingfish and to all my opponents for very enjoyable and challenging games. I'm sure I'm going to have to put in all 5 AAR's to have even the faintest chance of advancing to the next round. Regards Jim R.
  12. Ahhhhh yessss.....the famous missing StG 42 tripods that aren't modelled in CMBB. BTS fix or do somefink! Regards Jim R.
  13. Andreas, if those yobo's were Aussies where their current leader is little Johnnie Howard then I contend that they would be highly combat effective since they'd all be aiming low trying to take the bugger out! Regards Jim R.
  14. Hi Sergio. Is there any chance you can extend the deadline just to the weekend as Michael D. and myself are almost at the end but we'll probably need the full week to finish our game. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards Jim R.
  15. Perhaps an obvious potential scenario but I would hope there would be at least one pertraying the Germans attempting to force their way past the Tobruk defences. I can tell you right now however, if the Aussie's aren't portrayed as being veteran or better with high fanaticism I'll get really ****ty! Regards Jim R.
  16. In a recent game I played a Flak 88 I had kept pinging shells off its side and then its front from less than 500 metres until the IS3 decided it had had enough of that nonsense and then simply blew away my gun. This was after it had already dispatched my Panther and wiped out most of my infantry force as well. From experience, they're absolutely deadly. Regards Jim R.
  17. Try them up against King Tigers and you'll soon change your tune. Regards Jim R.
  18. Interesting stuff Michael, thanks. I found this section particularly interesting. Before every attack most careful reconnaissance and preparation with heavy weapons. Our own thin lines were penetrated by recce patrols, often up to company strength, provided with good and handy radiotelephones and assisted by details from advance arty observation posts. During daytime thorough recce in front of our own main battle lines with armour up to 20, some of them armoured scout cars. Being prepared to scout with armour and armoured cars up to the MLR rather than the ground pounders sounds fraught with danger. Risking valuable AFV assets to obtain information on the enemies disposition seems potentially rather wasteful I would have thought. Regards Jim R.
  19. No, I'm afraid both the Soviets and the Germans didn't have VT artillery during WWII although the Germans apparently had some special sort of manually adjusted timing based fuse which could achieve something similar but without the same sort of precision or consistency as the Western Allies VT fuses. Unfortunately, this special sort of fuse is not modelled in CMBB for the Germans. Regards Jim R.
  20. Yes, sort of reminds me of a more recent preventative attack. Regards Jim R.
  21. How does that song go in the film "The Producers"? If I remember correctly it's something like....Springtime da da for Hitler de dum and Germany do de do... Regards Jim R.
  22. You may have thought I was being too flippant in my reply to your same question in the previous thread but it really is how you use it. VT artillery gives you the equivalent of treebursts with virtually every round so if you can catch troops out in the open with it, it is devastating. If the enemy are cowering within woods or scattered trees then it's stilll very effective since you're still getting treeburst explosions but at a far greater consistency. The only time VT artillery isn't all that effective is when the enemy have managed to reach buildings cover since fragments bursting in the air aren't going to effect them much when they have a roof over their head plus those type of explosions don't do much to damage the house if you're trying to knock it down with the VT explosions. Lastly, VT artillery is very effective against open topped AFV's like Marders, Wespes, Halftracks etc. since the crew have virtually no protection from explosions overhead. Invariably the crew will abandon their vehicle if you manage to correctly target the VT barrage in the vicinity of open topped AFV's. See, I really wasn't pulling your leg. Regards Jim R.
