  1. O.K. Good news. There will be a third patch to tidy up the loose ends that still seem to exist. Good on yer BFC. Good to see customer service levels are still maintained at a high level. Regards Jim R.
  2. Oooooh! Can't let this go. "Come on Aussie, come on, come on. Come on Aussie come on!" BTW, see my post in the General Forum regarding the South Africans in the World Cup. One more thing, as if the result of your battle with the CMBB novice was ever in doubt H. Regards Jim R.
  3. Just to adopting the "Mr Picky" trademark temporarily. I believe you will find that there were a hell of alot of Panthers around as well (over 5,000 produced) and were generally speaking, more common than Marders. Regards Jim R.
  4. You don't need a 'crater'-like position to get an AFV into a hull-down position. Take a look here for a small example: </font>
  5. I take it that there were no Canadian forces at Juno beach on D-Day? Regards Jim R.
  6. Has much space been allocated to this website? Just curious. Regards Jim R.
  7. Yes. When you play me all you are allowed to chose from are units within the mechanised section of the force purchase screen. I, on the other hand, are allowed to choose whatever I like from any time period with absolutely no restrictions. Regards Jim R.
  8. I'm getting a bit worried myself. Michael Dorosh hasn't sent a turn for over 2 weeks due to his computer failure but hopefully that will be fixed very soon as we're only one third the way through KoD at best. Time is a running out! Bertram is sending turns pretty regularly and expect to be able to finish Rearguard within the stipulated time limit at the current rate of file turnover. I'm pretty concerned about my game with Tuomas however as we're only averaging 2 turns per week at best in The Beast and still have about half of the turns yet to complete. It seems he just dissappears off the radar for days on end then suddenly re-appears for a couple of days then dissappears again. My game with the Corporal has been copmpleted so at least that one is in the bag. As for H, if it wasn't for his constant whinging I'd be enjoying that game as well. {Note- only kidding} If any of my opponents feel that there may be a problem completing their game with me within the deadline, please drop me a line via email or post here so I know what's going on. Thanks Jim R.
  9. Yes, welcome Klim. Glad to make your acquaintence. O.K. First question. What are your views on the Russian phrases used in CMBB? Do they seem true to life? Too foul mouthed? I'm just curious from your Russian perspective, that's all. Regards Jim R.
  10. The problem Schoerner is that when you area target a single story building you are only given the one choice and that is to target the base of the building. If there is some way to target a single storey building half way up its wall I'd love to hear about it as I haven't managed to be able to do it yet in over 2 years of playing CMBO & more recently, CMBB. Obviously a 2 storey building doesn't present a problem as you can target the upper level but a single story one certainly does cause problems if there is a small ridge in front of it. Regards Jim R. Regards Jim R.
  11. This looks bloody sensational laxx! Keep up the great work. I just wish I had the skills to do what you're doing. Mind you, even if I did I would probably be too lazy to do it anyway so my hat is off to you. Regards Jim R.
  12. But Simon. Can it fire those dinky little hand made rounds with the rocks and stones and things? Regards Jim R.
  13. I still have to disagree here. What about the example where the AT gun is emplaced behind a wall with the resulatant 0% exposure feedback. Is it reasonable that an AT gun emplaced just behind a wall and being fired on by direct HE would not suffer from chips of stone, flying rocks etc, when explosions are occuring all around it and against the intervening wall? I think a reality check is needed here with this proposition. Others are saying that if you use combined arms then the problem can be solved. That's fine if you have some choice in the force purchase within the artificial confines of a Quick Battle but what do you do in a pre-made scenario when all you're given are tanks, infantry and some halftracks on a narrow map with little room for flanking? Basically you're pretty much screwed due to the invincibility of well placed AT guns. Don't get me wrong, I believe there should be some sort of defensive bonus for well emplaced guns but to make them next to invincible is pretty far fetched. What should be happenning IMHO is that the crew should be getting gradually attritted from the nearby explosions and as each crew member is lost the efficiency of the gun deteriorates to the point where it is abandoned due to the morale hit. Would that not be a reasonable outcome for an encounter where 13 tanks for example take on the one AT gun, albeit a well emplaced AT gun? Regards Jim R.
  14. Seems pretty conclusive then that 2pdr HE amuunition was available even in late 1941, early 1942. Regards Jim R.
  15. I think there is a problem here. Does anybody really think that it's realistic that 13 T34's targeting the one gun with HE would result in the gun being basically unscathed for the equivalent of 13 minutes, despite constantly being bombarded? Fiar enough that there should be some sort of defensive bonus for being well emplaced but to be invincible is a bit rich. I'm hopeful we'll receive some sort of comment from the guys at BFC as to whether they consider there is a problem here or not. Regards Jim R.
  16. Another good reason why our group decided to stick with ver. 1.01. Regards Jim R.
  17. Hey Walker. Shouldn't there be an award for...The longest AAR's in the history of the world? Recipient- dinga! Regards Jim R.
  18. I beleive the problem is with HE area fire rather than MG area fire. From my experience you simply can't area fire within roughly 20 metres of one of your own captured men due to there being a fair chance the randomness of an explosion will kill your countrymen. However, I believe you can area fire with an MG or of course, you can directly target any enemy troops nearby with direct fire HE, assuming you're able to see any nearby enemy units. Regards Jim R.
  19. Hi John. Just simply use this script in your shortcuts or favourites menu (assuming a Mac has one) and you will go straight to the BFC forum without any large advertising banner. http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi Regards Jim R. 20. The only trouble with that order combination is that it is impossible to do! You can't plot a rotate order in between movement orders as the movement order after the rotate command automatically cancels it. You can only have a rotate order at the end of all movement. Pity really, as it would have solved Puds problem. Regards Jim R.
  21. Thanks for the info. Simon. Blacker Bombard? Oooooow....do tell. If it ended up in Russia I want it in CMBB! BTS, please fix or do sumfink! Regards Jim R.
  22. How are those ROW II AAR's coming along John? (Who says I'm not persistant). Regards Jim R.
  23. Thanks for that info. Flammenwerfer. So, back to the original query... tis a pity these Matilda CS tanks are not modelled in CMBB when equally uncommon T34/57's and absolutely rare IS 3's are. It would have been fun to see how they would have performed against soft targets and also whether they fired an HC round that would make it the equivalent of an early/mid war Stug killer much like the Churchill Mk VIII is against a Tiger/Panther in CMBO. Regards Jim R.
  24. Perfect job tabpub. Thanks. Regards Jim R. [ February 28, 2003, 05:42 AM: Message edited by: Kanonier Reichmann ]
