  1. Well, I personally wouldn't mind if the parade would be held up here in Finland one day. But if you're into BIG guns there are two 2 x 305mm coastal cannons built into two of the islands (Kuivasaari, Mäkiluoto) surrounding Helsinki. At least Kuivasaari is fully functional. First fired in 1935, put out of action in the 70's and then restored to it's former glory in the 90's. They fired it with blanks a few weeks back but gonna go live on December 6th (for our 85th year of independence). The gun is huge. Just the barrel of the gun weighs over 60 tonnes and the ammo half a tonne a piece. A guy they interviewed said the momentary (for four hundreths of a second) need for power to get the "ammo" moving amounts to 4 Gigawatts! Well OK, not everyone may be that impressed (but I was) and yeah, it's outdated by modern weaponry but still if anyone is interested... http://www.rt-kilta.net/english.html Jäger27 *Picture property of SA-kuva</font>
  2. Anyone tried the SoSi 0.5? Has far higher knock out capabilities and first hits usually disable Gyrostabilizers and optics instantly.
  3. What difference are binocular sights supposed to make? All the best, John.</font>
  4. Hold the position, reinforcements will arrive on the 7th of September Good read! What beer brand is responsible this time? Have to try it... Marcus ****
  5. Indeed, but the modders might put the slogans on the rear side of the turret instead...
  6. it's Slowakei, just as it is Tschechoslowakei, not Tschechoslowakien... </font>
  7. How's that? I've noticed the sun to be in the West all late afternoons. </font>
  8. Are you sure it was a QB when you tested the Ardennes mod? In the scenario editor you can chose weather and ground conditions and then you got fog and snow.

  10. hhmmm... Earlier you wrote: "thanks for all your valued opinons, im not trying to insult anybody, its just my opinion that the best tcip players will beat the best pbemers 8 out of 10 times in any format." For myself I do prefer PBEM for the following reasons: I seldom got time for a whole game at once; real life keeps me simply too busy. This is the main reason. What I do like about PBEM is: I watch the movie several times from several positions; This gives me more accurate information about what's going on and I simply just enjoy to look at all those beautiful mod. Giving orders actually doesn't take long. I do need rather little time for it compared with the time used just watching the movie. I do sometimes finetune my move orders if needed to the last meter (then giving orders takes considerably longer of course), but overall I doubt if this really would make a difference at the end of the game. all the best Marcus ****
  11. Holy sh*t. Not again... It's going to be further and further up north (Maybe next year we will meet in Finland...). But a real Panther with the engines running? Can't miss that... No worries about missing the train this time; as I understand it's a night exhibition (? correct me if I'm wrong) and with a 4 hrs trip back to good ol' Switzerland I will not even make an attempt to get back the same night. Another night in some slow trains and deserted railway stations waiting... They better keep the "vollfunktionsfähige 100mm Marinegeschützturm" (fully functional 100mm Navy gun turret) away from us, that nobody pulls the trigger after to many beers...but on the other hand we would have the unique opportunity to do some beta testing for CMUB and check the ROF of that baby... See you soon Marcus ****
  12. The caption with the broken turret armor says that flawed armor cracked even if the armor itself wasn't penetrated by the hit. Other statements are that only 90mm was able to penetrate and that even on non penetrations the color (inside) caught fire where the tank was hit. Marcus ****
  13. Great news; a scenario with just one na tionality on the whole battlefield would be a bit boring I think.
  14. How about opening up the operation in the scenario editor and set the "no mans land" option to 0m? Would this help?
  15. How about his own comment in his guestbook (page 14 IIRC) Quote: "And so a truly well earned pictorial and literary monument is established in honor of the PANZERTRUPPE in 1/15 scale, a website backed by the good sense of the serious armored modeller, and for the sole benefit of the serious armored modeller.I salute YOU! P.S.Many more new tanks will be added in the future, check for up-dates soon, Greetings to ALL the friendly visitors! Welcome Aboard! (the Author)" A "literary monument"
  16. The supply dump in Donaueschingen? My grandpa's supply dump  My grandfather was stationed in Donaueschingen before the war, Inf. Reg. 75 if I remeber right. Regards Marcus
  17. Scenario Talk forum? Had a long night a the G-point? Marcus ****
  18. Probably early war; Will be interesting for the German palyer going up against T-34's and KV-1's while the Russian player will have the problems with longer command delays. This period hopefully will have its own challenge for both sides. Marcus ****
  19. Hhhmmm, Castaway Island...doesn't look too deserted to me. What are you doing there if I may ask. Work? Marcus ****
  20. Playing as Germans vs the AI, yes 50% more on US side is OK. Plus copmuter experience bonus. As for map I prefer rural (modest-heavy tree cover, modest hills) or village (heavy tree cover, gentle slopes - modest hills). Those combinations make for the most appealing map in my opinion. Rest I leave often to random except if I want to play with my favoutire units of course.
  21. In the PBEM folder. Start playing human opponents; it makes for much more interesting battles.
  22. How abotu those who made the mods???!!?
  23. Tank battles probably wouldn't be very interesting and should take place rather seldom I think. American arty hammering the japanese defensive positions and then a final assault wouldn't make for very exciting battles. As much as I like the Pacific theater I doubt it would make for real interesting battles. Marcus ****
  24. For some more pics of the trip click on the link below. Sinsheim museum pics Panzeranklopfgerät, wasn't it you who had that book on different cammo patterns? If yes could you give me the title of the bppk and the name of the author. Regrads Marcus ****
