  1. The Finns got BB...right when the days are getting shorter and the nights longer; a good time for playing BB I guess!
  2. Michael, It seems to me very much that the tank stops, shoots once and moves on. Therefore the stop can be short (if gun is ready) or long (if still reloading). "Firing" stop and not a "Pause" between two movements. What you mention to have a user definable stop and a "shoot and retreat" command would be great indeed. Wait in ambush position, fire two shots and then get out of there. Marcus ****
  3. Reading his guestbook is fun too btw... Some of us signed it a while ago
  4. Rembmber this page? I left a comment in his guestbook there at the time. I just checked one of my secondary e-mail accounts and even got a answer from the guy. Here it is: Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2002 18:55:40 -0700 From: "Robert McGuire" <bobtank@telnor.net> | This is Spam | Add to Address Book Subject: website To: tools4fools@yahoo.com "about the website, The fortune of this guide is simply sincerity... I'm writing about German Armor and the tragedy that was World War II.... Don't expect me to be a softy writing about daffodills.................."
  5. Did you change movement speed of the s&s order? If you click on the final waypoint and change the speed then the "fire" comment on the previous waypoint will disappear...and the tank will not fire anymore. Just put first way point where you want the tank to stop, then put the final one where the tank should go afterwards. Do not care "reverse" or "fast forward" for the final movement - the AI will do it for you. I really like the command especially since the tank always shoots at the designated waypoint once. Bear in mind that with a tank with a slow reload time this stop might take real long. IS-2 fires while on the move towards the "fire" waypoint. 5 seconds later IS-2 arrives at firning stop. And reloads. Reloads. Reloads. Until it's ready to shoot again. Then it will fire and then start moving again. IF it's still alive by then of course.
  6. You forget to tell all those people that you've been playing BB since....when???? You cruel bastard, you!!!
  7. I'm rather happy with the game being in the shops. And I don't really care so much who is the distributor. I got the game I wanted. ANd the gamer being in the shops means more sales for BFC I guess. Otherwise they would not have done it. And more sales means more cash for BFC. And that gives BFC the possibility to further improve CM and we will get a even better CM III.
  8. You mean, thats only one Division against those 6 Sturmmörser... a bit gamey.. </font>

  10. Sounds like a GREAT feature for the M18's and M10's (US TD's) in CMBO. I do not know what FAST and light tanks the German's and Russian's had on the Eastern Front (don't have the game yet) so if any one would like to comment perhaps those with experience that have the game might suggest which tanks in CMBB are best suited to take advantage of this new order (shoot and scoot) Thanks -tom w</font>
  11. I was hiding some inf teams (LMG, tankhunter, sniper) deep in a wheat field (about 200m inside) and placed 3 T-34 outisde of the wheatfield. The T-34 never spotted the inf teams when beeig outside of the wheatfield being buttoned up or not. When I drove the T-34's around the wheatfield I got several spotting ranges: around 80m (tank was opened up, different speeds), around 20m (tank buttoned up). But there seems to be no consistency since I had once an unbuttoned T-34 at hunt speed going downhill and it din't see a LMG team at 5 meters distance!
  12. Keep in mind that the angle of incidence at 1000 meters is going to reduce the effective slope on the hetzer front from the 60 degrees rating. This is due to the projectile dropping downward as it loses velocity of course. I think all the ratings assume a 90 degree (straight on) angle of incidence. Try putting the hetzers on a reverse-slope hull down position - this should greatly increase the effective slope (maybe up to 80?) and result in more bounces from the 85mm I would guess. More flat-out misses as well, but you get the point. Ren</font>
  13. Remember that if you use hunt and reverse it will stop upon enemy contact and shoot it out with the enemy. Only after the enemy is destroyed it will continue to fullfill its orders...which might be never... That's why we got shoot and scoot: drive into a firing position, shoot, and move back/on. If you put the last waypoint behind your tank it will automatically reverse, if you want to move forward into next cover it will move forward.
  14. I doubt that; first test was made with 6 T-34 vs 4 Hetzers... They were obviously not seperated in pairs where each pair has is one "shooting lane" seperated with tall pines which block LOS to the other pairs. In my test the Hetzer and T-34 were going head on. In the first test it was 6 vs 4...Huge difference there. And I had test runs where the T-34 defeated the Hetzer with 6:2 as well...
  15. But as long as importing into the scenario editor was restricted only to COMPLETED battles (i.e. saved while viewing the map after the debrief/AAR screen) you wouldn't be learning anything new, as you'd already have seen what the enemy had.</font>
  16. Here another test at the CM shooting range: 8 vet T-34/85 model 44 (with 85/L55 gun) vs 8 vet Hetzer cost: 1440pts vs 856pts Distance: 1000m T-34 hat a hit% of 28% on Hetzer, Hetzer had a hit% of 38% on T-34. T-34 got "very seldom" kill possiblity for Hetzer, Hetzer got "OK" kill probability for T-34. Each pair facing each other, flat open terrain, all pairs seperated by tall pines. Run the test 12 times. Result after 96 shootouts was 60 T-34 (62,5%) losses vs 44 Hetzer losses (45,8%); In detail: T-34 losses vs Hetzer losses: (2:6)(6:2)(6:3)(2:7)(5:3)(6:2)(7:6)(3:6)(6:2)(6:2)(6:2)(5:3) Observations: Some upper hull ricochets on Hetzer upper hull, some ricochets on T-34 front turret. Otherwise always penetrations or partial penetrations. ROF seemed to be about equal with the T-34 maybe a little faster. Comparing the stats, the T-34 should have problems penetrating the Hetzers upper hull front armor; it's 60mm "rounded" (which means rounded gun mantlet, otherwise it's 60° or 55° if I remember correct). Penetration at 1000 m for 60° is 43mm for the 85L/55. At 30° it is 95mm at the same range. Armor quality of the Hetzer is 85% only, that's why there were only few ricochts I guess. All in all the "very seldom" kill possibility seems to be given after the armor vs gun penetration stats without taking the armor quality in count.
  17. Nope, you cannot open the file in the scenario editor. Would be intersting, you could redraw setup zone, use a new map, etc. but you could see exactly what your opponent got...
  18. After finishing a QB you can import the same map without or with the troops into a new QB. If it is with troops the knocked out and burning vehicles and killed units will appear on the map as well as all the units alive. You cannot import units only on a new map (what a pity). You can import a map from the scenario editor as well I think.
  19. CDIC, had probs too, but wasn't the disk but the CD-Rom. Maybe after 2 years with the CMBO disk in the CD-Rom it didn't want any other CD's in there anymore... CDRW did the trick but it took quite a bit longer. Had another CD once where CD got a read error while installing the game, CC 3 I think. Copied the whole disk via the explorer to the HD and installed it from there. Will keep you informed about Hongkong in December once I get closer. Starting next Sunday to Bkk. Good luck with BB. 20. Thanks a lot Mike. Will print them and put them up on the wall next to my computer. At least no nasty surprises, I will know now what could come down the road... Albeit it doesn't help all the time; had a bad surprise where I went up against defending Tigers early in 43. My main AT asset were 4 SU 122. Only that hte didn't have AP shot this month...He Ap performance is...well, hopeless... I then was positively surprised that the T-70 with the 45mm with tungsten actually performs better than the T-34/76 I had. But 97mm at 0° at 100m is still not enough for a Tiger I. Needless to say that I lost this battle. Maybe you could include such stuff with a color code (dark red: no AP at all. Yellow: only HC: orange: tungsten or somefink like that). Or putting the letters for available ammo types in the squares.
  21. I guess you were asking real early with the 75mm L/43 and the 50mm L60 not yet available for the Germans. 88 does the trick, even in a meeting engagement. Buy a transport too. When you see the map try to find a good position with long LOS for it. IF none, then load it during setup and dive it fast to a promising position. Unlimber it there and wait. Uses fast Panzers as bait. Let the heavies catch a glimpse of them every now and then - at such positions that his heavies will get into LOS of the 88 when he is trying to manouver into a position from where they can shoot the Panzers. 150mm IG was tried against KV-1 as well, range around 500m. Had no HC or AP shots. Full frontal hit to no damage on the tank  But a near miss with the next shot beheaded the tank commander as he opened up the turret hatch to see who distured his nab And mabe you want to play late 42 scenario for a change. Then he will be on the receiving end. You got the first Tigers and Stug F/8 available then. Nothing I know of that can harm them really from the front on the Russian side. At least among the tanks. But there is a Russian 85mm AA gun as well...
  22. bmps of BO mods of most tanks will not work with BB, beceause BB's 3D models have been changed (improved, more ploygons). However BFC were running out of time and a number of vehicles comes in bitmaps from BO mods. Here BO mods should work if you renumber the bmps. The Jadgdpanzer IV you metioned is "Makjagers" BO Jagdpanzer IV which I used for a long time! Marcus ****
  23. I knocked out a T-60 with a Stug F8 and it seemed to be a HE round as well. It was a near miss but still close enough to knock out the T-60. A HE round against a lightly armored vehicle would maybe make sense as well since an AP round could go sraight throu it without doing much damage. This sure will not happen if a HE round hits home...
