  1. Are the faces going to look as good as they do in the anti-tank picture ?? http://www.cdv.de/editor/vorschau/images/cm2_pak.jpg
  2. Hello, Are these pictures from CMBB ? If not, where are they from ?
  3. Correct, there was a large invasion by the Japanese on one that pushed the Australians over a mountain range and the Japanese followed. The Australians fought so hard on the retreat that the Japanese were ordered back over the mountains. I believe the Australians followed them back. In a sense guerrilla warfare. The style of fighting in the Japanese islands seems to me to be a prequel to the Vietnam war. Quite similiar in many respects.
  4. I was wondering if people here think a future version of Combat Mission perhaps some several years down the road would be playable with the Japanese vs The Allies. Would it be interesting enough a battlefield for people ? It would be different from the European theatre in several ways: - Jungle environment - More Bunkers and mountain tunnels - Lots of beach landings I am not sure if the armour is interesting enough or whether it would be balanced. Feel free to add more to the conversation on either side of the argument. Cordially, Maple
  5. Hello, What is the URL for the RD Ladder - Yahoo forum ? I know it exists, I just cannot find it. thanks
  6. You have some good players there. The best player that I am aware of is TITAN from RD Ladder. He won the RD Ladder tourney, you may wish to contact him to participate.
  7. I think I am going to increase the scope of this thread to include Combat Mission Clubs/Leagues/Ladders. Anywhere a person can go and join, discuss and play Combat Mission. Preferably where there is some type of players list to enable contact with others to find opponents. I thought there were some foreign language groups, such as French and German. It would not surprise me that a Russian one comes to exist when CMBB is released Cordially Maple
  8. It would interesting to see some type of fortifications to stop tanks, similiar to the type you mentioned. Even deep ditches would be an obstacle.
  9. I am trying to compile a list of all the Combat Mission Ladders available to players. Here is a list of the ones I have, so far. If you know of others please provide the ladder name and URL so I may add it. Blitzkrieg Ops Ladders Combat Mission Polish HQ Dogs of War ( now defunct ) Tournament house Yahoo Rugged Defense Thank you in advance for your cooperation. MapleTree
  10. Unfortunately, bazooka men do not have handguns. Perhaps they will add them in the next version.
  11. I was reading the below noted article written by the owners of BTS about prisoners. In it they discuss the handling of prisoners. I always assumed that once captured they stayed captured. I have never had a prisoner become a non-prisoner and start fighting again. My question is what are others doing to handle prisoners and how do I give the command to a prisoner to walk off the board. Would it be best to just eliminate the prisoner with small arms fire and move on ? Cordially, MapleTree -------- PRISONERS OF WAR CM is very lenient (to the captor) in how it judges whether POWs are guarded. You can use ANY non-panicked unit to guard them, including bailed vehicle crews, units with heavy casualties, half-squads, whatever. And the guards only have to be in the general vicinity (100m, I think?). And one guard unit can guard an unlimited number of POWs within range. So you'll find that you really don't get tied down to guarding prisoners. You just have to pay a little attention, pick someone to guard them, and you're all set. (But you might want to send two units just in case a stray mortar round lands on the first guard). Charles Basically, the friendly player has no incentive to wipe out its own captured men. I'm not sure I fully understand how points are calculated in the Big Picture, but the points come out very much in the capturing player's favor. First of all, to wipe out anything involves a comittment of SOME form of firepower (artillery, tank fire, small arms, etc) so that if someone is using that to kill his own captured men, he ISN'T using it to whack enemy troops. And while he is busy fussing with killing his own, he ISN'T busy dealing with things that can actually cause pain. In other words, if Martin had used artillery to whack his own men, that would be ammunition not used in some other crucial area. And since this stuff is not unlimited, a poor decision on the player's part. Likewise, it is a BAD idea for the capturing player to use them as human shields because a dead POW doesn't count. In short, best thing to do is march your prisioners off the map ASAP. And because positions are variable, that doesn't mean that the AI should take over and just blindly march them to the rear. MUCH better to let the player do this. And since movement orders are very simple to give, this does not require more than minor effort. Plus, I think it is cool to have to deal with prisoners. Makes you feel like you reall accomplished something. In CC they just run away. Big deal. In CM I am staring at a group of guys that I captured and that I control. 12. Hello, So for a 9000 point QB in CMBB using the default mods on the CD Rom a player could use: 1 ghz CPU 256 meg RAM 32 meg Video Card This would be enough to play such a QB ?
  13. Hello, I asked this question at the General Discussion group without much success. Is there a techie or beta-tester that can summarize generally what the CPU, RAM and VRAM required to handle the CMBB QB 9000 point game? I understand this will be the largest balanced battle possible in the CMBB QB point category without the use of bonus points. This should allow for some great city siege battles, very exciting and fun. Cordially, Maple Tree
  14. Hello fellows, Thanks for the many informative and funny answers. I was referring to a 9000 point default QB selection. Currently in CMBO the highest default selection is 5000 points. So to ask again, what type of hardware, CPU, RAM and Video Card, would be required to have both opponents play with 9000 points in a QB with the default mods on the CD ? I was thinking: CPU - 1 ghz Ram - 256 Video card - 32 megs Perhaps a 64 meg video card would be required with this much game play, so things do not bog down. I am not sure! Thank you
  15. I understand it would be possible to have a 9000 point battle in CMBB. How much Video Ram would that require if using the default mods in the CD? Thank you
