One note on the IS-2 It only carried 12 rds in the ready rack with the rest in the hull in metal cases. With no turret basket and with two piece ammo, should the IS-2 suffer a ROF penalty after it fires 12 rds or should it be spread out among all rds?
Don't forget IS-2's only carried 28 rds of which no more than 14 were AP. Maybe the German's mistook the IS-2's going back to resupply as running away. After any type of tank engagement or battle the IS-2 would have to resupply. Usually the tiger's would show up for the counter attack so it would make sense that the IS-2's might not engage Tigers without a full loadout of ammo.
Just wondering what role if any did ULTRA play in the decision making. Many of the US decisions and battle plans(Mortain)were made with an excellent grasp of the available intelligence. Were US cmdrs overconfident based on the ULTRA info concerning the green VG division? Did they depend too much on the ULTRA info?
With such a slow ROF it will be even more important to have the right shell loaded in the breech. I can see people cussing when the german tank shows up and their su-whatever takes 8-10 seconds to AIM and fires HE then another 30 sec to load AP. By then the German tank has fired 4-6 times.
Towards the end of the War germans employed variuos 13mm and 15mm machineguns(from fighter planes) mounted on trucks/halftracks and anything else they could find.
I'm still waiting to hear how your cat broke your CD. And what was it doing out of your computer in the first place.
"My Dog has no nose."
"How does it smell?"
I feel your pain.
I think one of the problems is some of the tanks just have too much damn smoke. 5+ rds. It seems the more smoke they have the more inclined they are to use it. At least if they had fewer rounds that would be less annoying when they do fire it against orders. Tanks should have a max of say 3 rds smoke.
Tragic as it is, I believe Fionn is so distraught and upset over the killing of so many sheep, he doesn't have the stength or emotional stability left to play. But they were all so young.
