IIRC Soviet gun depression was the leading cause for the overconsumption of Vodka in the Soviet Union.

Combat Mission 3 - or: FIGHTING STEEL!
Dittohead replied to Ryan Crierie's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
If you want to play with ships, fill up your bathtub. We don't need no stinkin' battleships. -
Don't know about civilians, but I do know that the guys over in the peng thread are lobbying Steve pretty hard to get sheep included.

quote:
4) 'Realistic' force picks will help the AI as well - let the AI pick forces for both sides and again I think you'll see your game experience improve.

Actually I have found that the AI gives a much better game if you select its forces and let the computer pick your forces. That way you can insure the AI has a maximum of combat units. Don't pick any FO's, the computer always puts them where they are easily killed and fires smoke more often than not, same goes for mortars. Tony

Quick question to ponder If the game was real time, would that increase or decrease the SMG Gap? -

Even IF a 37mm could penetrate the drivers hatch on a ricochet, what's the worst it could do besides give the driver a splitting headache. It might shock and immobilize the Panther but I highly doubt that it would take one out with a ricochet. -
Questions? 1. How do they measure the armor thickness in the field? Standards? Does each country do it differently? 2. How many measurements should be taken? Thanks Tony

Will Eastern Front Engineers have chainsaws?
Dittohead replied to Mr. Johnson--'s topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
The Russian's had several battalions of specially trained beaver's which they used in lieu of chainsaws. These beaver's were found mainly in the 69th Battlin Beaver Brigade. -
Using the lowest armor quality for all T-34's would be no different then how the Panther Armor is treated now.

I would like the defender to get an additional 5% in points for use on fortifications only in attack QB and 10% more pts in assaults. 1000 pt QB 50 Pts for fort. for attack 100 Pts for fort. for assault Since i doubt most people spend more than 60-80 pts on fortifications anyway. This would work to balance out the QB. Plus the attacker would be more cautious knowing that the defender would have minefields, wire etc. Tony

I got the info on the IS-2's From Stalin's Heavy Tanks 1941-1945 - Zaloga, Kinnear, Aksenov & Koshchavtsev - pg 44 "The Reserve ammunition for the gun was kept in metal containers on the floor" "The ready ammunition for the IS-2 was kept in the rear right hand side of the turret bustle behind the loader." pg 45. "The floor is made up of metal ammuntion lockers for the reserve supply ammunition supply." From the pics I would say that there appears to be at least 8 cases on the floor. And it clearly shows the 12 spots for the ammo and propellant in the turret. Not much room in the turret for anything else. Plus the turret looks like it will block access to some of the cases depending on which way it is facing.
