  1. In my opinion its real simple... you get x number of points for each turn you hold a flag. Thus say its a 30 turn game at 20 points for a flaf per turn... if u hold a flag for 29 turns and the enemy rushes it on the last turn and takes it thats: 29x20=580 points for you, 1x20=20 points for him. This would dramicaly change the strategy of the game. It would make things a lot more ergent and bloodly as I asume they would have been in these smallish tactical battles.
  2. In CMBO the standard QB looked something like this: 1500pt ME Combined arms Village Mod hills & trees Clear weather. Being new to CMBB I was woundering what settings people are using... there seems to be a lot of them Rarity? date? (seems to make a big difference) weather? wind? etc What do you commonly use?
  3. Yeah bombs and rockets seem to miss a fair amount. But cannons; 20mm, 23mm, 30mm, 37mm ALWAYS hit the tank they are fired at. Thus your only chance is to have armour thick enough to deflect the shot or get lucky with a "penetration no serious damage". Combine this with the new low cost of JABOs and you have an awesome tank killing unit... maybe too awesome ???
  4. Ive run quite a few tests with aircraft. Ive yet to see a straffing run on a vechile miss the target. The planes have all been regs. For the cost, aircraft seem to be a far better buy than any AT gun. Has any1 started banning them in QB's? Do AA guns make a real difference? How easy was it to hit lone tank on a straffing run in real life?
  5. Playing the demo I also noticed how wicked these rounds were. A whole squad in heavy woods cut down by 1 shot. Now I dont know much at all about these rounds - but I would have thought hiding behind a solid tree trunk would have completely negated the effect of thousands of small steel balls being fired at you. ??? I cant see how they would penetrate more than an inch or so of wood.
  6. Sneak was my most used infantry command in CMBO. Units moving through cover firing at random distant targets would be a real problem for me in CMBB. I would have thought just adding a "sneak to contact" command would have fixed any issues people had with the CMBO commands. This command would stop your troops and make them return fire if fired upon inside 50m ,and/or stop and return fire if fired upon by a firepower rating of greater than say 50-75. Thus: Run Assualt Advance Human wave (Russians) Move Sneak Sneak to contact Crawl Retreat
  7. Yeah Ive always found that odd with cmbo as well. A small european farm-house would have a rather large kitchen with a dinner table, a living room and a bedroom. You should be able to get a full platoon in there sitting or laying on the ground. However only the firepower from 10 or so men should count as thats all that could fit around windows/doors.
  8. Howdy Bull. We'll have to get a few games going when I get my copy
  9. Welcome back catnip. I was woundering if you would show up agian. Whats our current standing??? 2-1 or 3-1 to you? Your the only player I just didnt have any answer at all for. I want to see if it was just outrageous bad luck on my part or ungodly skill on yours Anyway it should be a riot. Tecumseh: I may take ya up on that. It will be VERY basic so shouldnt take much time to setup. GO THE WARRIORS!!!
  10. I know wot ya mean carrot. I had a brief go at a couple of the ladders and found most games unenjoyable. Players were bitchy from the start. And when they started losing they would slow down on turns and give excuses... anything to drag the game out and not have to report a loss. With exception to some of the top players who were sweet as to play. But you do bring up an interesting idea none the less... The "have a crack at Kiwi" ladder. Ive got 10meg free web site space. I might put up a list of players and a simple ranking system for those that lose to, sorry, play me. I might even let Reichmann have a little column to report IN DETAIL any little *accidental* losses I may have
  11. Hurry up and join the que - its getting rather long
  12. Winecape - Can't remember a lot - a good time was had I suspect The bottle I gave to the old man brought back comments of "very very good". Titan - I hate when people start dropping off the turns almost in perfect unison with how badly they are getting beaten. Keep the turns pumping or surrender!
  13. Lets rock  Best of 3? 1 defense, 1 attack each and 1 ME? sound ok? [ September 20, 2002, 03:25 AM: Message edited by: KiwiJoe ]
  14. Well I guess its hard to judge *tone* with forum posts. If you notice I don't hassle people who dont hassle me 1st. When people make smart ass remarks about me - I give it back, and then some However I never hold grudges, I never refuse to play people because they pissed me off in the forums, and I alwasy remember this is a game. I just like to have a bit more fun with it than others do You are quite right about the "unfamilar" thing. If ever any1 had a chance of beating 1 of the CMBO greats then it's early on with CMBB before every1 is used to the different units and strategys available.
  15. We'll then - if she'd like to come back and whip my ass in real life I'll be a happy little monkey.
