What we need is "massive-multiplayer" CM. Each player is a platoon leader, company commander, battalion CO, etc. In your "game" you can only see what your guys see (if you are a platoon leader) or what your subordinates report to you. CMIII maybe?

Thanks Jon, but I am pretty sure that's my game. Here is the way things ended on my right, or is this a shot of von lucke's game, I am so confused! -

Here is how my game with Bertram ended near the left rear flag. One more turn and I was gone! The right rear flag had about the same situation. -

Welcome to the lower tertiary Tap! I look forward to playing you. -
Military Heritage magazine has a short article on the T34 this month. In the article they state that the gun could not be depressed more than 3 degrees below the centerline which made it hard to fight from hull down positions. This begs two questions. The first, of course, is - will this be modeled in CMBB? The second is, how detailed is gun depression and hull down status modeled in CMBO?

On a (slightly) related topic...are there going to be any changes in the CMBB map editor? I mean besides the addition of some new terrain features. Specifically, I am hoping that they will add another increment range to the elevations. Something like 1.0 meters, so we can have gently sloping terrain without the stair-step effect. Any hope? Exactly, even tanks can't cross fords. The AI needs a way across if it is to figure out an attack strategy. A couple of bridges should do the trick. [ February 03, 2002, 08:59 PM: Message edited by: wadepm ]

On a related note...why doesn't the AAR list the casualties caused by the arty under the FO's stats?

Page 3! That won't do. I am finally done. Completed "We Can't Wait" last night. Now to do some AARs and wait to see if I finished dead last. [ February 02, 2002, 09:54 AM: Message edited by: wadepm ] -
NOTES FROM THEATRES OF WAR - Russia, Jan 1942

Actually, what happens is the snow sublimates (go directly from a soild to a gas), i.e. it kind of evaporates if it is in the sun. Under the trees the sun can't get to it so it can't evaporate. -

Pixel and I have two file transfers left in our game. Then I am really and truly going to write some AAR's that may deserve full consideration, rather than half as previously noted. -

Thanks Warren. Yea, my master would have worked if 1) you didn't have any air cover and 2) you did exactly as I expected. But seriously (again?) I think the German player has to play this as a defensive battle because of his general lack of infantry to support the tanks. On a related thought...what do you guys think of planes in general in a tourney setting? I think they add way too much randomness to the result, not that there isn't a lot of that already. For instance, I got hit four times by planes in this scenario, how many times did you other guys get it? -

I can tell you Warren's approach, he played a crappy German player, the gamey bastard! But seriously, my "ambush" position was severely hammered by his planes and when I moved he nailed me with long range fire from the hills. I don't think I got more than 1 or 2 of his tanks in return, it was pretty easy for him really. -

OK, I should probably spend my "free time" writing my AARs. However, I am sure everyone has gotten past that point in the scenario so it shouldn't ruin it for anyone. BTW, I got the Church flame mixed up with the Croc. -

Anybody have a problem with the setup as the Allies in "High Cost of Real Estate"? What's up with that Churchill sitting off by himself in LOS of that 75mm AT bunker? -

quote:
..led to the destruction of his most expensive armored unit on the map during turn 1, before it could fire a shot...

I'll bet you had the Croc facing the wrong way in "High Cost"? I'll bet a lot of people did that, the setup was very confusing for the allied player. Mine died a few turns later from something just as dumb! -

Please, nothing moving or blinking! I was hoping when Manx moved over to CMHQ he would have some influence, the CombatMissions website is very nice - clean and simple, everything right at your finger tips. -
The best "feature" of CM is...it has only just begun!

Did you guys ever play the World at War games (Operation Crusader, Stalingrad and D-day) from Atomic games? This was back in the mid 90s. They were battalion level hex games (1 km hexes) using a WEGO system. A lot of fun. I was hoping the Battleground games would be like that but they went back to IGOUGO, poop. -

If Ted comes back today...OK, tomorrow, I don't think he will have any problem finishing our game anyway. I don't think TreeBurst will have any problems finding a guy to finish for Ted though. There is nothing so satisfying as being thrown into a desperate situation not of your making and...well, doing something. Merry Christmas everyone!!!
