Elvis, Did you see that Pak after it fired or did you spot it before it fired? Kinda interested in the ability for AT guns to be stealthy and I dont remember it shooting at you. -

Yeah Elvis I was just bustin' yer chops. You are doing as well as can be expected. Attacking is always difficult. Defending is a cakewalk. and it is spelled Dyke. -

We might have to pull Lt. Dyke, er...I mean Elvis outa there and replace him with someone who can get the job done! -
...and if you are in the answering mood Steve perhaps you could clear something up that is bothering me? You said that "close combat has been improved for CM:BN" when we were in the context of discussing hand to hand combat. Just to get this straight: If two squads are close to each other with no ammo they will still kill each other (no animations) correct?

I doubt it. Just the "damaged" texture I bet. -

Cool! You can see that helmets can fall off dead troops! -

But if they are both out of ammo then they still try to kill each other with no animation yes? -

This is what Steve said: "Close combat will be improved for CM:BN. But as I've said forever and a day... there will not be any close quarter combat animations. That's just not something we can fit in. Plus, no matter what we can realistically do with the animations they will still look unrealistic. Even FPS games with tens of millions of Dollars (for you Europeans, that's about 300 Euros ) don't have very good CQB animations. So we're not kidding ourselves about it." From the Santa Steve thread. No animations (I dont really care) but there is close combat (hand to hand). And since CMSF had no close combat at all then any "improvment" means at least SOMETHING is in there. -

Fair enough. Steve did say that hand to hand is in the game but it is abstracted so it has been announced. I do not care if it is abstracted or not. I am just very happy its in there! -

Elvis, Can you tell us more about your troops that surrendered? Do they come under control of the Germans? What happens to them? Also, does your build have close combat (hand to hand) fighting in it? -
A fun personal guess at CMBN's relase date
Lanzfeld replied to silverstars's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Ohhhh.... -10 points for spelling. Not looking good for those exams. -
I agree. I would like to see SOME improvement with the troops that live through several battles. Real or not, it goes a long way in helping to "bond" with your pixeltroopen.

Borg Spotting vs Borg ID'ing
Lanzfeld replied to Kanonier Reichmann's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I did a TON of C2 tests awhile back. I can say that, in Iron mode at least, it can take several minutes to have contacts passed around to everyone that is in C2. In fact, I think I found a few bugs/instances where info was NOT being passed when it should have been. -

When that "piece of metal junk" is going to defend my squad and prevent further kamaraden from falling? Hell yes......and I expect the same from you. -

Great DAR Jon. I do wish that they would grab the weapon FIRST before and BA is done on WIA or KIA. I mean it is very important to get these weapons back online to avoid further WIA/KIA. It has been a small bug/whatever in CMSF and I was hoping they would adjust this for CM:BN. -

So the squad will pick up the needed weapon BEFORE they do the buddyaid to the fallen troop? ...or do they do the aid first and THEN grab the weapon? -
I do not care too much for the unit insignias or numbered tanks but I would LOVE some damage decals on the vehicles. Scuffs from richocets and holes for the penetrations. It would tell such a great story!

How about the 150 mm? Can I use it onboard?

Thickness and penetration data
Lanzfeld replied to GreenAsJade's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I guess an open laptop next to your game computer with the editor from CMAK running will give us access to the data we will want during our CM:BN fights. Like someone said before, the data hasnt changed, has it? -

A) You have better pictures because they are bigger and I can zoom into them for more detail! Bravo! I am getting worried. You need to start dishing it out to him. -
indirect on map artillery
Lanzfeld replied to Cambronne's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
On the topic of on-board indirect fire: Do we see the guns elevate their barrels to near vertical and shoot? -
This is very strange as I am using 1.31 and my 40mm might as well be made of foam. I have seen it too many times to be a quirk. Does not pass the smell test here. Thanks for your testing though.
