  1. Remember that IED's have a significant failure rate.
  2. A few questions here. 1. Rune, being that you created this mission (great work BTW) can you give any idea why so many people dont get credit for searching the entire SF building? I didnt have this problem but I read about it often in this mission. 2. I read above that we should get to the top floors and work our way down to take advantage of height. Is there an advantage in CMSF to shooting down a floor as opposed to shooting up? Does the game give the "higher" squad any advantage in spotting or firepower?
  3. Thinking more about the ammo idea. I usually give my squads 1000 extra 5.56 right at the start of the mission. When you think about it, that is only just over 3 extra clips per man in a 9 man squad. But I hear what your saying. Taking all the extra ammo from the strykers (over 3000 rounds in some cases?) should make you more cumbersome.
  4. Check out some of the real combat footage comming out of A-Stan or Iraq on Liveleak. 5 second bursts or longer are the norm when the **** hits the fan from SAW's and 240's. Oh yeah and LOVE the ammo cans idea c3k.
  5. Playing Thunder campaign in CMSF right now and watching my 240 teams operate I just started to dream about a few changes I would LOVE to see in CM:N (.30 cal and Mg-34/42, ect.). Tell me what you think. 1. Now I have wanted this forever. Longer bursts. More dispersion. You know. Watch any combat clip and see what I mean. 2. The ability for teams to "link" up ammo belts if they dont move so as not to have to reload so often (this fits well with longer bursts see). 3. Barrel changes! Only on the MG's that had this ability. Obviously there would have to be some side algorithm or calculation on the barrel temps with respect to how long it was firing/ time between bursts/ need for defense/ panic/ ect. Just some dreaming. FWIW
  6. From my own personal experience, disabling shadows works well. FWIW
  7. Great video. I would just like to say that I started this thread not because my guys could SHOOT through walls (we know that firearms can do this) but because my guys SPOTTED through walls (which Moon said MAY be because of recon fire damage).
  8. I wonder if this has anything to do with the new ammo share feature?
  9. I am just glad you switched to Vet skill from Basic Training as in your Thunder campaign. That is why they seem harder maybe? Anyway....I enjoy your videos. Its actually a tribute to some of the scenario designers in your Thunder campaign as you comment several times that you think the AI is reacting to your moves. Neat huh?
  10. This has been brought up a few times but I have not heard if BFC will fix this. I like the idea of the team using about half the AT rocket load at a time.
  11. At least with Normandy we can pretty much forget about all this high tech gear "not working correctly". Spotting will be spotting. Although I am sure there will be German optics threads.
  12. But that it just it! If BFC would give it a big spotting bonus it wouldnt be useless.
  13. Yes in the game the M707 does not spot any better than your troops with binocs. In short.....its broke.
  14. Moon, It WAS slightly damaged from my recon by fire. Wow...I forgot that. Thank you! Not sure 100% that is what is going on but it does make sense.
  15. Starting a new thread so BFC can see this. Well I didnt know this could happen but I just saw it. I saw a firefight through a solid wall (solid on BOTH sides) with no windows or doors. I was on the 4th campaign mission map called "Dar Al As Sud". Check out the map at the crossroads where the big apartments make a "L" shape. The road that comes into the map from the west side (about middle map) goes to a 4-way intersection....there. I was in the corner building with 1 squad and in the connected building directly north of me I discovered a Red squad and killed them. My guys were not moving but just saw the Reds. Now that wall is solid from both sides yet my squad spotted and killed the Reds. Bug? The only thing I can see is that the north building is slightly higher up from the ground than the building I was in. Like you would have to step up into it. Strange. Anyone check this out and let me know what you think.
  16. Update......kinda....maybe strange bug???? Well I didnt know this could happen but I just saw it. I saw a firefight through a solid wall (solid on BOTH sides) with no windows or doors. 17. for the m707 its not only a LOS problem but also a sensor issue. It cant see very well. Cetainly not as well as IRL.
  18. Man....I tell you..... It's getting star wars scary out there!
  19. This may be way old but I am playing the original campaign with the original maps so maybe you guys learned not to do this but I thought I would put it out there anyway. When you have two or three buildings in a row connected (like a row of apartments) the walls between them should be solid (windowless and doorless). In reality, most structures like this (most....not all) you have to go outside to enter the adjacent, yet connected, building. In the older maps the designers always created the inside walls to these independent apartment/shops/homes as a window wall so if you are in an apartment sharing a wall with another apartment with a red squad in it they detect you instantly and a firefight erupts when MOST of the time you could not be aware of each other as there should be a solid wall between. Also make use of demo charges much more stratigic and fun! Thanks for reading.
