Yes and lets hope that longer (much longer) bursts come from these tanks that are spraying the opposite side of the hedgerow. -
Real life or gamey? (newbe question)
Lanzfeld replied to Lt. Smash's topic in CMSF Strategy and Tactics Forum
Yeah I have noticed that the Major tends to have this anti-US flavor in his posts every now and again. I, personally, don't give a hoot his feelings but I am surprised Steve puts up with it. -

Those old AARs . . where are they now?

Nope... It was the Moon/Fionn one, wasnt it? I loved that story. -
NATO: German sniper spotting performance
Lanzfeld replied to Russkly's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I ,for one, am really really really glad to get away from modern era (CMSF) and back into older stuff (CM:BN). All the whiz bang high tech gizmos that we may or may not have specs on will not clutter up the "realistic" experience. So many threads on spotting and optics (guilty) I am ready for a change. Not to say we wont complain about stuff in CM:BN but it just seems like there are more "basic ingredients" that are harder to mess up. Snipers and the modern spotting/camo/ect is a good example. -
Grenvill, That is exactly why I asked. Thank you. Also the AT styker LOS but I guess we have the answer now.

Why infantry combat in CMx2 is so different
Lanzfeld replied to Battlefront.com's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
No they did not change this. The required time to program an AI to understand these limits would not be worth the investment. Although I have often felt that we should live with the lack of an upper limit (not a huge deal) but maybe we could put in a lower limit and if the AI ran into this limit (close assaulting troops) it could just pop smoke and reverse until it was in safety or had a line to the troops with its MG. Better than nothing. Kinda the same logic when it gets hit with AT missles now in CMSF. -

WOW! I am pretty surprised your sherman spotted all those Germans in town! How did he do that? or did he see them after they fired? Seems like they would have been hidden in those buildings. -

In CM:BN if I lose my platoon HQ unit can the Company HQ unit be used to keep the three squads in command ala CM1? In other words....can I use my Company HQ to keep squads in command if the platoon HQ is gone? -
Smoke the trigger man or the IED's location.......I'll try that. Cool!

How about anther DAR report instead? Seems like forever! -
It was also brought up that they would benefit from being "auto-leveled". In the pic with the foxholes and tank in the German DAR you can see a foxhole at quite the odd angle due to the slope. Like YD said I really dont care how they look as I want to very much thank BFC for giving us FOW foxholes and trenches.

3D Models/Textures Settings
Lanzfeld replied to Barkhorn1x's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^ I have never really figured it out myself. The one you can adjust "in game" (with the { and } keys) seems to render higher detail a little farther away from the camera.....I think???? -
Just killing time with thoughts on how to improve the game a litte. Did BFC ever say if they were going to change the LOS eminating from certain vehicles so it is appropriate? What I mean is... Some of the vehicles have sensors at the very top of the vehicle and if we were able to just stick the VERY top of the said vehicle over a burm then we would have LOS with very little exposure. Where does LOS eminate from? Is it center of mass? Just wondering...

Use "general" arty on rooftops as it seems to do the trick until the next patch comes out. -

Specific gun sounds? Garand 'ping'?
Lanzfeld replied to Chad Harrison's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I am pretty sure that clips and spent casing vanish before they hit the ground. Question: Is there any weapon jamming in CM:BN? It seems like it would be easy to put in there and, if not, why? Animations? -
Understandable. He did answer questions that were bracketing mine though. I dont want to pester. Its just that Elvis said that in close combat: "Hee hee. No, there is an animation. One guy shoots the other. Or more accurately they both try to shoot each other." Which really makes me wonder if they troops are doing hand to hand fighting (new) or just shooting at close range (same as CMSF).

You know Steve, if this feature has not made it into CM:BN yet it is okay to just say "No, it is not in there". I am starting to feel as if you might be avoiding it because you dont want to say its not in there when the original post strongly suggested it is. I know your intention is not to mislead us so it is best to clear it up now maybe? Two squads, face to face, 2 meters apart, no ammo. In CMSF they would just stare daggers at each other forever. In CM:BN, do they at least start to get killed as the hand to hand is abstracted??? Many many thanks for your candidness.
