  1. Babra, The discussion board is like any community, you're going to get extreme views on occasion. However, the majority of people (including yourself) make valuable contributions to the group and make coming to this board a joy, and I (as many others already have) would ask that you reconsider leaving! Just dont force me to Grovel! 'Sigh'...ok, if I must...Grovel...Grovel! Mace
  2. JP, A few people may have flamed you for your previous posts, but didn't you stop to think that by posting such a tasteless picture that the whole CM community would be appalled and react accordingly? Geez, up there for thinking.....NOT! Mace
  3. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Joe Shaw: No dumb hamster ever won a war by dying for their nest, they won it by making the other poor dumb hamster die for his nest. JOe<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Geez, Joe, you certaintly do take CM seriously don't you! Mace btw, the mention of 'skirt' got my attention. Expect Muzzlehead along any minute!
  4. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Wild Bill Wilder: Letter going out shortly, Ironcross! <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Better make a few more, us Aussies have to work as well! Mace (Shhhhhh....sending this from his place of employment)!
  5. Just make you own covers, perhaps of one of your favorite CM moments! Mace
  6. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by BigFatGeneralSafeAtHQ: And to top it all off I don't have a girlfriend so I can't pass the time waiting with wild passionate sex. Could life be anymore boring? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I've been married for a long time so I'd like to know, what's wild passionate sex? Mace
  7. CM Borg, there's some assimilation to be done. Mace
  8. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by PzKpfw 1: I think one benifit we had during the cold war was we built on our combat experiences while the Soviet process stagnated. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> IMHO, I don't believe the Soviet process stagnated, but rather remained static. The Soviets seemed to be quite happy with their late WW2 combat methods and retained them up to almost current times. But I do agree that the Western Allies continually evolved their processes after WW2. Mace
  9. The wheat based 'Redback' has been my favorite, but the Carlton Cold (filtered) isn't that far behind! Mace
  10. Same here! I've ordered it and will play it, but CM will always remain my favorite (err..until CM2)! Mace
  11. The Germans lost the war alright, but they managed to fight quite well at a tactical level (not to detract from the fighting ability of the Western Allies). But, if you're going to play CM correctly, it doesn't hurt to dig into the tactics of all the nations involved! Mace btw, only one Ally made it to Berlin, the Russians.
  12. There probably needs to be some recognition of the difference between the Soviets at the Tactical, and Strategic Level. Strategically, the Soviets operated quite well as is evident with the Stalingrad campaign and the encirclement of the German 6th Army, the destruction of Army Group Centre etc. However, IMHO, Soviet commanders at the tactical level were not allowed the level of initiative nor did not show the same level of finesse that the Germans or the Western Allies did. Hence, I would have to Agree with Aussie Craig that the use of the CM1 Infantry Command model would be quite suitable to model a Soviet style rigid command structure. The only adjustment would be the range of command control (same as for the infantry in the early war, to simulate AFVs without radios, perhaps much longer for AFVs with radios). Mace (now excuse me, but I have to go back to being silly)!
  13. Besides, everyone knows I look far prettier in pink! Mace
  14. Has any one tried copying, then coloring, the camouflage schematics included with AFV Kit instructions (eg Dragon, Tamiya, AFV Club)? It might be worth considering. Mace
  15. Other good books of a similar nature include: Handbook on German Military Forces TM-E 30-451 & Hitler's Legions (Samual W Mitcham) Mace
  16. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie Oi, Oi, Oi!! Mace (Sorry, but I couldn't resist stiring up the neighbours a bit)
  17. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Big Time Software: sewing machines were only used to keep the Germans awake late at night<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> And the bonus is that you wouldn't need to code the shadow of the aircraft crossing the landscape! Err, unless you account for full moons in the algorithms! Mace
  18. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Joe Shaw: Mace, best of luck my friend, you saw the response I got when I wanted the Customer Service number. HEY, maybe we could have an expose' in the newsletter. They don't know who they're dealing with here. Joe<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Yep, CM Borg doesn't realise the implications of trifling with members of the (CMMC) press!!!! Mace
  19. Try pressing the <Alt> key and while holding that down the <Print Scrn> key, I think that captures the current window you have on the screen. Mace [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 08-30-2000).]
  20. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by TrixxTango: Actually, I personally feel that the Borg Customer Service is quite grand. As a member of the 7 of 9 gender, I must say that they were polite enough to equip my Borg armor with a skirt.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Hey, I never got a skirt when I was assimilated!! CM Borg obviously doesn't cater for the CM cross-dresser. Muzzlehead and I now have no recourse but to lodge a complaint! Mace
  21. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Kanonier Reichmann: Why am I reminded of a bunch of blokes lined up at the urinal? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Oh, we're comparing? In that case, I'll whip out my big.........................................................................................E 100! Mace
  22. Well, if you can have the Brumbar, I can have a SturmTiger! Mace
  23. My apologies, Australia is a 'Hamster free' country, and the contribution that they made to the allied victory in WW2 completely slipped my mind! Perhaps the dogs were an intelligence decoy (not to be confused with an intelligent decoy)? Mace
  24. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Aussie Smith: Matt Want to get on to your Chat area - but I'm behind a firewall at work . Just wanted to know if/when/maybe you'll have a java chat client at CMHQ. Cheers Mate Craig<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Which is just as well. As a tax-paying Australian, I'm not too happy about Commonwealth Government productivity reducing, a result of certain staff members stopping work to have a CM related chat! Of course, we state government employees are exempt (it's a shame though that our firewall prevents access via the java based option as well)!
