1. A large object (the PC) being shoved up a very small hole (the salesperson)? That's going to makes his eyes water! Mace
 2. I think CM is an excellent and enjoyable piece of software in the AS/ASL genre! Besides CM provides much more in one package, than ASL provides in their many modules (Eastern Front ones excluded), and is a cheaper option as well. I thus wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to fellow AS/ASL players. Mace
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Beau: does anyone know of any info on the legion of st george, Ive read that it was an SS regiment using a few british and canadian prisoners who defected to the germans. i have heard and read a few accounts of them fighting at the fall of berlin, is this fiction or is it true as i know the SS used many troops from scandanavia and the low countries.

Yes, there was such a legion, but my understanding is that it wasn't even platoon size, and consisted only of those with strong anti-communist views, rather than pro-nazi. I believe they spent the majority of their time travelling from POW to POW camp just trying to make up numbers. Mace btw, I think there's reference to it in one of my books on the Waffen SS - If you like, I can post the book title and page no.
 4. Tiger, You've obviously still waiting for the game to arrive, because you've got the free time to churn out these beauties! btw, do you do requests. Mace
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by Vampire1: That is scary to think that the Panther II was to be the standard "medium" tank. That thing is huge! The one at Ft. Knox stands as high as the King Tiger and completely dwarfs the StuG and MkIII next to it. Imposing to say the least.

....and there was always the proposed 'E' series of German AFVs as well. Mace
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Kanonier Reichmann: Heh hunter...meybe so, but they don't count!

1,2,3,6,5,3...err...1,2,3,7,4,2...err...1,2,3,9....oh, forget it!!! Crikey, you're right. Mace (proudly Australian)
 7. Any excuse to wax lyrical about the Eastern Front, and CM2, is always justified IMHO! Add: Extensive field works Ski troops and motorised sleds Soviet Marines & Paratroops NKVD (to deal with those retreating Ruskies) Different building sets (including large factories, buildings with 3+ levels) etc Mace
 8. The one problem with jagdpanzers is that once immobilised, they're relatively ineffective due to lack of traverse. btw great to see another Aussie here Mace
 9. I suppose that the cost of upgrading the Tiger I into something more akin to the Tiger II wouldn't be cost effective. Eg increase the mass of the tank, you need a better engine, a more capable transmission, improved suspension and so on. Replace the gun, you may need to extend the back of the turret to account for an increase in recoil, revamp the position of the shell loudouts, revise seating arrangements, etc Thus cheaper just to design a new tank from scratch! Mace
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Tiger: one of my favorite weapons in the game as the germans is a halftrack with a 37 mm flak gun mounted on the rear. bam bam bam! infantry hits the dirt. Then those damn infantry toss gernades from the nearby woods and no more flak gun

lol, damned open topped AFVs can be a bit of trouble! How about shooting at infantry from a longer range, 'cause I don't think this particular vehicle was designed for close in combat. Mace
 11. Melton South, Victoria, Australia 'This here's the wattle, a symbol of our land. you can stick it in your pocket, or hold it in your hand'! Mace
 12. I'm am pleased to announce that after some 6 weeks, the shipment of 4 copies of CM have finally arrived at Simon Ng's unoffical CM co-ordination and distribution centre in Melbourne, Australia! Simon will now forward one each to Brian (Rock), Andreas and yours truly (or else we'll kick you door in, Simon). I'd like to take the opportunity to pay special tribute to my wife and two daughters, 'cause once the CM borg pays a visit and I become assimilated, I won't see much of them over the rest of the year....too busy playing! Further, another important benchmark has achieved, Muzzlehead has finally recognised my skill in interior decorating, and has agreed that the Orange lace and sequins that adorn his PC clash with his favorite CM units, the Pink Panthers. He is now changing them to something that is better color coordinated. Mace out!
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by Col. Klotz: I hope you don't setup any infantry inside that factory, because they'll never get out Col. Klotz

Tractor Factory? Stalingrad? Has CM2 been released yet? Mace
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by PatAWilson: IMHO the reliance on a command structure could be modeled by a generally delayed response time under all circumstances, even worse response time if the unit is out of touch, and severely hampered response if the command unit is wiped out. Therefore if you can get the company commander or, better yet, the battalion commander you would really gum up the works.

I agree. Especially during the opening phase of the war when Soviet tank commanders communicated to each other solely by waving little flags, due to a lack of radios. Mace
 15. Wasn't the electronic battlefield first perceived by Holobyte back in the late 80's? I guess at that stage the PCs just weren't capable, or the market just wasn't there! As for now, who knows? Mace [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 08-07-2000).]
 16. There was a movie released in the early 80s about one of the USN Carriers going back in time just prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. Needless to say, the Time warp reappeared and prevented them from intervening! Cant remember the title, 'cause I'm growing old, and my memories fading! Mace
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by patboivin: Recce armour is designed for speed, and designed to be destroyed. Doesn't the m2 Bradley have armour made out of some aluminum alloy?! Sheesh.

Isn't the recon version the M3? Mace
 18. No doubt 'more bang for you buck'! A bit like a lot of players always choosing the King Tiger....ahistorical, but a lot of fun!! Mace
 19. Recon AFVs are generally a lot smaller than the MBT equivalent. Their role is to locate, or fix the enemy, while trying not to be spotted themselves. Mace
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by muzzlehead: Kiss my Biceps!! 31 No, Mace this is not an invitation!

Sorry, I don't think anyone here is willing to kiss your biceps 31 times, let alone once! Mace [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 08-04-2000).]
 21. Oh, btw, CM (not yet, but soon, I hope)! West Front, West Front TOAW 1 & 2 SPWAW Rainbow6 EAW Longbow2 F-15 Falcon 4 M1TP2 Panzer Elite Stars! Master of Orion 2 Master of Magic Civ 2 Alpha Centuri Fallout Fallout2 Jagged Alliance 2 Earthsiege 2 Mace

Mace (immune as he doesn't have one)!
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by JOCHEN PEIPER: I posted my order on 25th July... That means mine should arrive sooner as I am somewhat closer to America here on the Eastern sea board...

Crikey! I won't depress you about how long I've waited (must be arriving soon though)! Mace hmmm...fellow Victorian...same time zone... are you thinking what I'm thinking?
 24. Do Cross-dressers count? If so, a fine opportunity for Muzzlehead and I to stand up and be counted! Mace (in nice pink frock)! BTW. Welcome aboard to Shrapnel and and *IX* Angela Deth - hope to face you across the CM battlefield one day!
 25. Parent's outta town..... Wild fraternity party commences tonight at CMHQ chat....bring your own beer!!! Mace (now where did I put that toga)! PS Matt, have fun mate! [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 08-03-2000).]
