1. Dont laugh guys, this is serious! One destroyed dummy missile = our Defence budget for the year, blown just like that! Mace (Proudly made in Australia)!
 2.
quote:
Originally posted by Lorak: Sure, all the Mods you need are located at one easy site. http://combathq.thegamers.net

While you're there, stop in for a chat, the regulars there are always ready to welcome new victims...err...friends! Mace PS. Stay away from Muzzlehead though, he's dangerous! [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 08-03-2000).]
 3. 42, + 1 day! Oh, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me.....happy birthday to me...eee, happy birthday to me! Mace (standing tall, with walking frame)
 4. Errr... doesn't placing a cat on a hot tin roof give you the same sort of listening pleasure? Mace (waiting for the flames)
 5. I agree. Fieldworks on the Eastern Front are a lot more extensive, and a greater set of terraing features modelled in CM2. Mace
 6. IMHO, I think improved graphics is just chrome - I'm more interested in the game play and the correct modelling of warfare on the Eastern Front! Mace
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by muzzlehead: Shut Up Mace, put your War bonnet back on and fight. We did'nt buy these combat purses for nothing.

But I was hoping for something a bit more chartruese! Mace
 8. Oh, is this to help us get in touch with our feminine side? Mace
 9. Given the success of the various CM sites, I was wondering what the normal, and abnormal, CM player would like to see on a CM related site (excluding smut) that would ensure that they visit the site time and time again? Mace
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by muzzlehead: Why Mace you looking for future opponents????

Bloody oath! I'll play anyone (if I only had a brain.....whoops, CM) Mace
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by muzzlehead: I do know that Mace likes the plush grass... has something to do with velvet battle garments... or something

And I wear them proudly! Mace
 12.
quote:
Originally posted by goonch: Funny as ****. I play CM so much that my 3.5 year old son recongnizes it as soon as I boot it up. He always says "daddy, can I blow up some of those bad tanks today?" Isn't he just so cute?

A couple of questions: Do you play him, and if so, who wins the most times? Mace
 13. Getting better! I don't think the German's had a four color camoflage though...loose the black and you'll be spot on. Also If you want ideas for a 'panther's spots' try www.missing_lynx.com ( a fantastic resource for modellers)! Mace
 14. IMHO, the M1A2. But hey, it doesn't matter how good a tank's design is, it's the quality of the crew that makes the difference! Mace
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: Simon's order actually landed ashore this weekend Steve

Steve, that's the best news I've received this millenium! If there wasn't a big water mass called the Pacific in the way, I'd walk over and give you a big kiss (ahem...in a manly way of course)! Now to plot the downfall of those who have taunted me at the CMHQ chat site!!!! Mace
 16. Errr....did Simon Ng's infamous order get away in time? Mace (1 of the 4 who ordered via Simon)
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by TURBO: Tiger IIRC zimmert was a cement coating, also i belive it was only applied to the vertical slopes but could be wrong. I think you have the right ideas on the textures looks good.

More I think about it....you're right! The Germans didn't put zimmerit on horizontal plates, just on the hull & turret sides, rear and front. Mace
 18. whipers... I would suggest you get on your knees when you address the bot....he is all knowing, all powerful, and brutal (his favorite attack are kicks to the head)! Mace (in awe of the bot's greatness...and prime contender for brown nose of the month)
 19. First of all, let me say what a brilliant piece of software CM is....It will only be better once I receive it (a long story and real tear jerker)! But I digress. I think one of the joys of CM is to purchase whatever force mix you want, and do battle with another player. This may result in an ahistorical outcome involving ahistorical force mixes, but hey...this is fun, and the reason we play!!! However, the strength of the game is that you can play a historical battle if you want, by either coming to some form of agreement with your opponent about unit mixes, or via an existing scenario. Don't forget that to fight a historical battle though, you need to know not only the location of particular units at a particular time, but also what equipment that unit had! Just my Aussie 2c (1c USA) worth. Mace btw. before CM borg gets me, I was already assimilated!!!
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Fionn: It happened but wasn't all that common in US and German tanks. Soviet tanks with their more "stow ALL the rounds right in the turret where any hit will cause them all to blow at once" philosophy really suffered from it.

A design fault that continues to this day. If you get a hit on a russkie AFV, and the turret flies off, you know its time to paint another ring on the barrel! Mace
 21.
quote:
Originally posted by Tiger: I don't think they put this paste on the barrel of the gun (it would come off when fired?) and the book on Tiger tanks I have never shows one with the paste on the barrel so I don't know.

Your right, they never put zimmerit on the barrel. errr, btw, I think you've got the upper skin on back the wrong way, 'cause the engine deck details are showing up on the upper hull glacis! None the less....better than I could do! Mace
 22.
quote:
Originally posted by Major Tom: I would like the inclusion of train bridges. You can recreate a bridge with train tracks leading to it, but, you could not put the tracks on the bridge. Also, there should be a few more different bridge types, ones that are more than one lane, have upper support bars, etc..

I personaly would also like to see armored trains included, considering that they did see some action on the Eastern front, and could make for some interesting scenarios.
quote:
There should be more transition roads between the Paved and Dirt types. There are many times where I wanted to make an angled paved road have a spur into a straight dirt road. However, there are only 90 degree intersections for dirt and paved roads. You can always just put a dirt road by a paved road, but, it doesn't look as good.

Paved road? In Russia? Seriously, there are a lot of terrain differences b/w the EF and WF that may need to be considered in CM2's design. For example, Russia's South was mainly wide open spaces, which meant that armored combat took place at far greater ranges than the norm...this may mean that the CM2 default map size may need increasing. Also, given Russia's land mass, a wider terrain set may need to be included in the game. Further, given that the EF included a mix of static and mobile combat, I wouldn't mind seeing a more extensive field works set than currently provided. Oh..and the tractor factory...you have to have the tractor factory!!! Mace
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by MarkEzra: I was once a newbie and thought newbie thoughts...Give yourself a month and you, too shall lament the passing of the good old days.....LOL.....

What's that? You can remember the good old days and recall the passing of a month! You must still be a young wipper-snipper! Mace (last seen escaping from the nursing home)
 24.
quote:
Originally posted by Von Brizee: Soviets produced more tanks also because they mass produced mainly just the T-34, which was relatively simple and cheap. Germans made a wide variety of tanks, many of them bigger and much more complicated and expensive.

I'd agree with that. The Germans did over engineer their equipment. Also, I think Hitler's fascination with and support of the production of wonder weapons, and the allied bombing of infrastructure would have had a substantial impact on Germany's capacity to produce machinery of war as well. That is, i) it takes some considerable time for a factory to tool up to produce the new weapons, time better spent on producing proven equipment. ii) The factories were undergoing disruption due to the allied bombing campaign, often forced to relocate to an safer environment, ie underground.
