  2. I wonder if I can get away with putting a second mortgage on the house, or perhaps sell the kids for medical experiments,to raise the money to buy this beauty? Sure would go nice with those Dragon 1/16 scale figures. Mace
  3. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Wayne: Do any of you see a strange resemblance between the Cromwells and the "Tigers" in Saving Private Ryan? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Nope! The SPR Tigers were based on the Russian T34 Chassis. Mace
  4. According to my references, the mounting of the 75mm on the M3 was an interim measure to introduce mobile 'Tank Destroyers' to the front line until those based on the M4 Sherman chasis could be introduced. These were rendered obsolescent once the M10 etc appeared. I think you'll see this variant in the Western Desert variant of CM. Mace
  5. A fresh newbie who's obviously ready for assimilation, and the CMBorg no where to be seen! Time for the CM Borg to review quality control. Mace
  6. Tiger, as usual, excellent stuff! It's nice to see the KT weathered up. btw, If you want ideas for camouflage - pick up model magazines that deal with Military Vehicles eg. Military Modeller, Tamiya Magazine, Military Miniatures in Review. Or visit some of the model sites. www.hyperscale.com If you ever get the itch to reveal your secrets, do so here. I'd love to have a go at doing this myself. Mace
  7. Yep, engagement ranges were far greater on the Russian Steppes than on the Western Front and the terrain, depending on which part of Russia you're fighting in, a lot less cluttered. My guess is that the average map size in CM2 would be something nearer to large map size in CM1 (and if so, makes you wonder what large map sizes in CM2 will be like)! Mace
  8. Errr....does anyone know the gestation period for an 75mm L24 (well it sorta looks like one in Matt's Photo)? Mace
  9. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Carentan: You SHOULD feel great about yourself. A) Generosity brings strong mutual rewards, and your kharma needle is pinned. You gave the greatest gift of all. Good man!<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Car, Hmmmm, your Karma could do with some boosting, perhaps YOU could buy me a copy of CM 2 when it's released! See ya on the CM battlefield, bud! Mace
  10. Can I be your friend when CM2 is released? Seriously though, that's quite noble of you, Elvis! Mace
  11. What, CM2 will not get the level of sales that CM1 achieved because it's based on the Eastern Front?! You jest! IMHO, given that the CM engine is popular to both Grognards and casual gamers, future versions of CM will sell well, regardless of Theatre of Operations. Also, us Eastern Front fanatics will certainly buy it (especially as the opposing AFVs will be more equally matched)! As for Madmatt's love of the JS2 - you've gotta admit, the Matt's got fine taste (but he did forget the JSU 152). Mace (waiting in the trenches for CM2 to arrive)
  12. And to see a display of this particular example of Aussie tank design, check out: http://www.iol.net.au/~conway/ww2/sentinel.html </A> Mace [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 08-21-2000).]
  13. There's nothing to be concerned about! I'd be more surprised if the group weren't their usual sarcastic and cynical selves. Mace (me included, of course) PS Good night, don't let the bed bugs bight!
  14. I hear they also interfere in PBEMs by overriding player's commands! That would explain it all. Mace
  15. I personally don't mind someone mentioning CM2 or enquiring about it's release date, as any opportunity to discuss the Eastern Front is a good opportunity IMHO! So keep 'em coming! btw, we all know that WW2 was won on the Eastern Front, don't we!? The other Theatres were mere sideshows! Mace (spreading the bait and ducking for cover)
  16. Way to go Matt, you're a real trooper. Just stay away from those exhibits! Mace
  17. Jsherfly, do a search with CM4 as the subject, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Mace
  18. Great mate! Now weather the King Tiger like that and you'll be on a winner! Mace
  19. Matt, looking for volunteers/assistance? Mace (who'll now have to do something constructive with his Sunday morning) btw,Matt, about the classis Hamster.jpeg: Is it true that the Germans are still hosing out the exhibitions?
  20. aha...found it! Page 96 : Hell on the Eastern Front: the Waffen SS War in Russia 1941-45 The Britische Friekorps had a total manpower of 58. It was formed after a suggestion by POW John Emery, eldest son of Leo Emery, Minister for India on Churchill's cabinet. The unit was trained as Assault Engineers, and attached to the Waffen SS Nordland Division, where it saw no action what so ever, due to concerns about their fighting quality! it is unclear whether John Emery muttered the immortal line 'Doh'!, at wars end Mace
  21. IMHO, I think the SPI wargames requiring each player to first plot their moves, then resolve them, were closer to CM. Games using the plot system included Sniper and Patrol (combat at individual man level). There were also two platoon level WW2 games that I can recall, one in Western Europe 1944, and another based on the early war period (I have both, but cant recall the titles). Mace
  22. If you really want pink, try http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/008347.html Mace Dont forget your combat purses though.
  23. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank all the citizens of Australia for paying their taxes, because, without them, I'd have to find a Private sector job and actually work for a living! Mace
  24. and Mace makes three! btw, Aussie Smith, leave the begging until the end of our PBEM. Mace
  25. You can always take out the game CD after the opening CM credits, insert a music CD, and combat to you favorite music! Mace
