I hear ya Guesss it comes down to playing style, but I would prefer to be able to set-up and plan my attack and move to contact rather than be right in the firing zone from the off. Despite smoke and heavy fire I still started to lose units. Using my mobility to reach the village at high speed just saw stuff die very quick - and I am a fan of IFVs being aggressive just I felt given the amount of AT assests that seem to be around not the way to go. Hence holding my IFVs and other stuff back whilst the grunts under supporting fire probed ahead. Still as I said the reinforcements piled on top of the other units in overwatch. I think allowing for differant play styles i.e. some might go in hard and fast others slow, and the impact on map reinforcements will have and allowing a larger set-up zone will make a difference, but hey only my opinion after all. Cheers fur noo George

Hi Blackcat I'm playing RT, with the occasional pause. Even playing WEGO I'd still find the set-up zones far to small. I hate being forced into small set-up zones Yeah I had everyone placing supressing fire down on every house in LOF but all it takes is one lucky RPG - so far the OPFOR placed two lucky RPGs and shot up my Jackals! I don't mind successive waves just give me the space to set em up is all I ask - please

Just started this and into Battle 2 (Bab Al Hawa). First battle was great fun, but this second one... What has frustrated me is the very small set-up zone that is in LOF of the enemy held village. I'm trying to move forward with my squaddies but I keep getting reinforcements piling into my very small set-up zone. At the moment it feels more like Omaha beach as more and more stuff piles up only to be shot at by RPG teams popping up and taking pot shots. I'd suggest that the set-up zone could be doing with being a/ larger and b/ out of LOF. I like the whole concept behind your campaign and keen to get on with it but at the moment this is getting ma goat. So I've just saved and exited at the moment. I need to have more patience to be traffic cop and sort out my log jam of metal junk that is piled up!

Remove the time limit in Normandy?
George MC replied to phil stanbridge's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Currently the AI Plans will only run for whatever time the designer has created em for. Remove the time limit you can bust the scenario. Currently the time limit is for four hours - surely enough time? I think this whole issue has been discussed at depth in earlier and I can't see how this can chnage without addressing all the issues previously raised e.g. ammo, AI Plans, player having all the time in the world which they might not have in RL etc etc. Currently you can always go into a scenario before playing it, change the time to the max four hours and there ya go. Can't see the ammo lasting for four hours of sustained combat! -

CMBB display issue in Windows 7
George MC replied to Paulverisor64's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Have you downloaded and applied the Vista patch? I did that for my Windows 7 64 bit installation and it all works fine (Using a Zotac GeForce GTX 260). -

New module - Combat Mission:Afghanistan?!
George MC replied to Panzerschlange's topic in Combat Mission Afghanistan
Nope - just takes a whiley to balance the scenarios out through playtesting so that the campaign works. -
Hi M1A1TC! Did you manage to finish this mod perchance?
-
Yes works fine - just patched both CMBB and CMAK. Running Windows 7 64 bit with a Nividia 8800GT with 191.07 drivers. Cheers fur noo George
-
Hi Pacestick He! Worked a treat - thnaks for the tip tip. I've also patched both CMBB and CMAK and they work a treat on Windows 7 Cheers fur noo George
-
Ok found em - but the main issue appears to be with the new Nvidia control panle drivers as it will not let me change the aspect ratio so I don't get CM stretched. Just checked the Nvidia forum and someone else over these is commenting about the same issue with the control panel.
-
I've installed both CMBB and CMAK on Windows 7. Both work fine i.e. no graphics or game play issues. Howvere I can't find the preferences file to chnage the display. Anyone know where Windows 7 hides these? Normally (at least in XP) the pref file was in the installed CM folder. Many thanks Cheers fur noo George

Do the old scenarios still work post v1.21?
George MC replied to Guardsman's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
No. There were might be a few where the AI set-up zones and AI Plan zones have not been done properly but otherwise scenarios should work fine. If you notice any oddness with a scenario I'd just flag it up. The issue raised here affects one scenario in which the designer has made an error with the AI set-up and AI Plan zones. Assuming other scenarios don't have the same foobar in the design then they should be OK. FWIW I've gone and checked the scenarios I've done and from what I can make out there is no issue. If anything some of them are now harder due to game engine changes -
Out of Memory error
George MC replied to ThePhantom's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
Errm the issue was not with the scenario per se - it was a PBEM related issue with file sizes and an inability to plot moves on the nest turn. Armoured Assault works fine for me in 1.21 - no memory issues. If you've not already done so it might be worth just taking a quick scan through the comments in this thread as there are a couple of differant issues discussed - it can be a bit confusing to get a handle on what's what. Cheers fur noo George -
v1.21 Eligible Artillery/CAS Observers
George MC replied to Peter Panzer's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
You guys playing from earlier save game files perhaps? -
Not sure what you mean. I just opened up the scenario in 1.21 and the CO, 2IC, Mortar FOO and JTAC guy can all call in mortar fire. Only the snipers and the landy crews cannot.
