FaxisAxis
Yeah, I know. We all know: "when its finished" But does anyone have any idea what year and what quarter this game may be ready to sell. I'm only asking for a rough estimate of what you think will be the release date. I remember last winter say, January, in this forum, people saying it was to be release late in the spring as in may or june. And then: the old "when its finished!!" and threats "if you ask about the game again" and to the affect of everyone here will hate you and think you are a stupid pechulant child for asking. Since then everyone gave up and began writing crazy off topic post -cherry waffle TNT, Peng, photos of real modern artillary and tanks; woopie!- all stuff that intentionally avoided asking about the game boring stuff I could care less about. like as if you where all in jail or something and needed something to distract your restless minds or as if you don't really care about the game anymore and where just here to hang out and write bombastic posts .

Patton21
I too would be interested in some time frame for release. We, however, will not get one. I would not be surprised if we were still another year away given that the graphics are not finalized and the plot not finalized etc...
FaxisAxis
I would not be surprised if we were still another year away given that the graphics are not finalized and the plot not finalized etc... I hear ya, not long ago he was looking for an animator. Be interested in knowing about how far into its completion they are say percentage wise. Too bad they can't afford a bigger developing team to work on all the aspects of the game. Then again if that were the case we may wind up with one of those high production dumb down inaccurate games -for every one play- that looks technically awesome and gets old and boring very fast.
FaxisAxis
Personally I'd be happy if they just took all the senerios and unite stats from CMBB and added a few interface changes such as hot keys for specified unites and appied them to this new graphics engine. but yeah, I guess after all these years, its time to make a whole new game with improved AI, different weopons and a different setting.

MikeyD
Me, I'm looking forward to BFC releasing their other outstanding products - ToW, Grognards, etc. - in the hope that afterward all eyes of thier small development staff could then turn towards CMSF. If BFC Corp. were the size of Sony Corp. they'd be able to easily devote a floor of their corporate headquarters to publishing the other games. But with a company BFC's size two or three guys off doing something else is a large proportion of their brain-trust! Eh, but what do I know. My perception of BFC's staffing is just as fanciful as my perception of the CMx2 game engine. Neither are based on any real knowledge on my part. Oh, and gautrek - there['s] always time for porn [edited for grammar.] [ November 06, 2006, 07:50 AM: Message edited by: MikeyD ]

Grumbling Grognard
Is there a FAQ for the in dev games around here? I don't make it by but once a month (at best) and don't have the time to dig/post the forum like I used to (not a bad thing btw). Sergei
There's that Consolidated Topics of Note. See the Winecape FAQ in particular. Or you could see the most recent postings by Steve (member #42) to know what he's been spilling lately.
Grumbling Grognard
Thanks. I'll stick with the FAQ. GG
Doug Beman
This thread has been repeating, virtually unchanged except for the game in question, since the later portion of 1999. There're always people who just can't comprehend BTS' approach to software development and take it on themselves to pester over and over and over and over again. Much like an obsessed fan, their enthusiasm eventually turns sour, until they've convinced themselves that this is all one big conspiracy designed to ruin their lives. They flare into tirades, and usually disappear like a match in the dark. Meanwhile, the rest of us--who have a modicum of self-restraint and faith in BTS to turn out great games--go on with what we usually refer to as "life." Pvt. Ryan
Hey! Steve combined all the sticky threads into one combined post. That must be to make way for all the threads that are going to pop up since the release is about to be announced!!!! Yay!!!!!! Wait. That was a year ago. Nevermind.

Oh, yes and you're the only one here who has a "life" You must think you're special. You must be one of those slow drivers. Sip your coffee, sit and read the paper. watch TV go on vaction once a year get your promotion. wait to die! wow! Oh, yes old man we must agree here and lets hope you still have a modicum or the balls! to ask what the hell is going on! Who the hell ever said they didn't have faith in them? You seem to love to have "self-restraint" and wait forever and for one day to be told never.

pad152
Well with little or no animation in the game yet (remember the call for 3D animators a month or so ago?), it look's like the game is still 6 - 8 months away. Depending on how much animation is going into the game it could still be a year or more away!
MikeyD
I believe BFC's first call for animators was to get help with a new WWII version of Drop Team. Their own guy was too busy concentrating on CMSF to help with the other game. I don't have a reason to believe their second call for animators wasn't also Drop Team-only (but what do I know?!). BFC said CMSF should be considered out of Alpha and into Beta. Interpreting BFC requests & announcements is as inexact a science as read tea leaves.
