I think that IDF would be great because it could be presented both as conventional land forces and unconventional warfare specialists.

Pro IDF:

-vehicles and weapons from 1947 to 2007.

(from AMX-13 and M4 Shermans to Merkava MK3 etc.)

-great selection of Unconventional warfare vehicles (M113/Humvee based and based upon tanks' hulls)

It would represent a continuum quite good since terrain and actual CMSF setup would allow without any problem IDF presence.

Cons:

-Some more arab countries should be involved and unconventional warfare OPFOR side should be granted more weapons too.

I think the issue isn't who would buy an IDF module, but who would only buy an IDF module.

I have the same chance of picking up a British, Marine, or IDF module. I imagine many people are the same way, with the actual context of the module (vs. the features it provudes) being the major issue (ie does it add gameplay). I'd buy a "Land Units of the Pacific Islands" module if it added to the game.

On the other hand the support for a British, Canadian, German, and USMC module likely well outweighs the IDF in terms of people looking for a context module. As there are so only so many modules BFC will make before they move onto another project it is an issue of which context would sell best (assuming BFC interest was equal in all the subject matters, and I have no idea on that).

So if you want an IDF module instead of just saying it would be cool, you need to say why it would be better than any of the proposed modules in added gameplay/sales (or worth adding on another module and potentially delaying WWII ... certain people on forum might hunt you down for that though).

lett them come, i'am sitting here and waiting, my stryker battilion's right behind me should give enough "arguments" and if not, Leo2, Arbrams and (if realy needet) some F15 until F22 will add more "cut-trough" points in this discussion :D

so come and get some tongue.gif

ok now something realistic: i know after this post i'am out for some posters in this forum. We have enough WW2. this is the first realistic strategy game in the "present" an you will imidiate switch back to WW2? What the hell is so interesting in this szenario? it seems i miss this point^^

therefor my wishlist (important first): european forces (including meditearein, european szenarios), Airborne forces (para-forces, rangers, transport helicopters...), IDF, Russian Force

and one's again, now common an shot me down, iam still waiting ;)tongue.gif:D

There are pros and cons to an IDF module. I personally am all for it since the IDF would be a natural fit for a middle east game.

BFC, however, has stated that there will be no IDF module, since other than among hardcore wargamer, there is a limited market for a IDF module and I don't disagree with that assessment.

I totally agree with you here. On the other side if you add NATO expansion. Including some more European armament. That will have a big interest.

This is what Steve Said just the other Day:

If we do Modules for foreign militaries we will try to retain commercial rights to at least the basic elements, which would mean more Modules. So at this point it looks like the only chance of an IDF Module is if we do a contract with the IDF itself. I never say never, but I'd not be counting on that happening

Steve

Obviously more issues at stake then just a burning desire to see Merkava's in action will solve

Actually, what I would like to see most is another OPFOR "module." Granted, any other Middle Eastern military is going to play about the same, but how about a Russian OPFOR deployed to the Middle East for a "Bear Resurgent" type scenario? The Soviet's had a long history of indirect involvedment, and a Russian expeditionary force in the Middle East could make plausible story lines . . . plus it would allow a more "balanced" Blue v Red engagment.

Mabye, but the Russians never export the top of the line, and that's what I want to see. smile.gif Plus, I want Russian infantry & specops, not Syrian formations using Russian weapons.
