Michael Withstand
I played mostly on veteran but I think that's about to change after I tried Elite. I'm a realism freak I guess. I love to know what each of my units are seeing. So which difficulty do you play on?
CptWasp
I play veteran too... The main reason is that I find too unhandy the navigation in the chain of command.
Zemke
I prefer Elite.
handihoc
I prefer Elite - for realism and a more challenging battle.
Chelco
Another realism freak here and play elite too.
Dirtweasle
Been playing Elite, and dropped back to Veteran yesterday just for the heck of it, and ended up laying for nearly 4 hours. Kind of like it more that way for some reason, never really gave it much thought, just played CMSF for twice as long as I had previously in one sitting.
Sgt_K
Elite- Always play with the toughest settings, I'm cool like dat.
SgtMuhammed
Elite. The AI needs all the help it can get.
Topo
Elite too; more realistic is, more funny. Saluti.
Pandur
Elite. EDIT: and why!? hm, dont know acually, i never touched veteran as i noticed in my first CMSF battle that elite isnt "elite" at all. so i sticked with it as it is easy enough in elite. also if i would play veteran i would feel somehow unpleased, dunno
Knaust1
Elite...however the good point is: which side do you play in scenarios? I'm playing the campaign at elite, but I find too easy for the USA ...at least in the first 4 scenarios [ October 08, 2007, 11:02 AM: Message edited by: Knaust1 ]
majorfatal
Veteran also because of the "pause" option not available in elite mode.
Topo
What version are you playing? I think in elite mode now is possible to pause the game, and with 1.04 version scenarios aren't so easy, at least for me... Saluti
majorfatal
Hue! It will be a GREAT new I even don't know it,I play 1.04.....can you confirm. Thanks
birdstrike
Yes, pause works in elite since 1.03. And on topic: I prefer to play elite, too. It's more frustrating that way, just like CMx1.
KNac
elite wego / veteran RT; is painfull the selection/isuing orders in RT with elite.
Hertston
Veteran. I started off with elite, but switched when I realised that original omission of the pause feature was probably the worst design decision in the whole game (and that's up against some pretty strong competition). I know that's been remedied, so I must give elite another go sometime.
Michael Withstand
You can pause now on Elite. If i'm not mistaken like birdstrike said pausing available in elite since patch 1.03
MikeyD
I play mostly to watch things go 'Boom" and strict FOW reduces my opportunities to see things go 'Boom", so I play Veteran. Its been a long time since i've touched Elite. I should give it another spin around the block, i might like it better this time around.
dynaman200
Veteran: since in 1.03 there were more spotting oddities with Elite mode. I have not played the game under 1.04 yet.
Childress
Veteran, though Elite will be mandatory if co-op multiplayer ever sees the light of day.
'Card
I enjoy the game the most in Veteran mode. Why? Two reasons, I guess. 1. I've always felt like if I had to crank a game's difficulty level all the way to the max in order to have a fun, challenging, and interesting play experience, then it probably wasn't a game worth messing with for any length of time. To me, the highest difficulty settings should be reserved for some indeterminate point in the future when I've beaten every scenario several times, know where the enemy is and roughly what the enemy is going to do, and still want to be challenged somehow. 2. If there's one fault with the game, I tend to think it's that the LOS and spotting elements are unrealistically restrictive, even on Veteran mode. I often find myself saying "Look, of course you can see that enemy unit. It's right there, damnit!" Elite mode just increases my frustration with that aspect to the point where I don't enjoy the game as much.
Ricochet67
Veteran. I'm all for full FOW as that's how I played CMBB but CMSF's treatment of spotting friendly units on Elite difficulty was, frankly, too annoying. Adjacent units separated by only a few tens of metres shouldn't be scratching their heads wondering where their buddies are. The need to deselect a friendly unit in order to select another friendly was a PITA.
Scipio
Veteran, for a practical reason (as already mentioned by others): I can't select multiple units if the first selected unit has no LOS to the other units. Since I think that the LOS system even in elite mode is only half baked, I don't feel the need to make the game just uncomfortable to use for me.
Taki
/me = Elite Does the Elite Settings also valid for the Enemy Ai?
