A sincere apology to all for the gross popups on my site.

Recommended Posts

I was trying to find a way to earn some extra money to keep the site going and in my haste, decided on using some popups to see how it would go over t=with the users.

Let me say this:

I am truely sorry for allowing this kind of crap to get sent to you. I can't fix it now, but as soon as I get home, I will remove that code post haste. Again, I'm sorry about this. I had no idea that it would be sending you porn info. I certainly do not support those sites and will fix this ASAP.

Please accept my humble apologies.

COG,

You already have a PAYPAL account set up. You could also try selling books (WWII related) through someone like AMAZON or sumfink. I never made alot from selling books but what little i did get certainly helped towards paying the bills.

Best of luck.

Believe me, no one said anything in their complaints about my popups that would have offended me.

I feel bad for doing that to my loyal user base and hope they'll overlook my lapse of intelligence. I'm normally not that dumb... ;)

EDIT: Spellcheck...

Columbus Gamer, I have to say that I'm VERY offended by what I saw on your site. I'm really disappointed about what you did there.

Ok, it's YOUR site and you can do what you want but it IMO leaves a bitter taste.

I mean come on, I just visited your site, trying to find sheep porn (hi Mace!)pop-ups and what did I find?

Nothing!!!

No pop-ups, no banners, just a fantastic collection of amazing mods.

I hope you understand my frustration.

Otherwise than that your site is great, I love it, and I plan to name my firstborn after you.

Regards,

Can't say I saw the popups (dammit), but it seems to me that you have somehow achieved a significant bandwidth bump in your site. Before your site was great, but kind of slow. I just downloaded Mr. Noobies MkIV F2 at around 40 KB/s however.

Did you contract for more bandwidth somehow, or is it just due to the fact that I'm downloading at 13:25 PST?

Regardless, you rock!

Popups cant cause IE to become faulty, prob just coincidence. If you have IE5.5 or 5 try upgrading to IE 6.

PS popups are just pages generated by javascript or html and so dont effect your apps at all. They will have an impact on memory though so it "maybe" related to a memory problem on your system.

I hope I'm not offending you(or anyone else) by asking this, and with the hope that your answer will help us decide just how much *assistance* we should be sending you. :D

How much is the new site costing, I ask 'cause I do not want to lose it!!

Is this why IE is crashing so much now? How to fix it without using Netscape?
Give it a boatload of memory,, that will help to a certain degree though it is a "crashy" app in general on a Mac. As per version #, the most current version is 5.1.6 for Mac (OS 9).

If the site is going to last, it needs to become self sustaining. I don't want to talk $$$, but you can go look at amertitech.com, covad.com or mpower.com and see that a *BUSINESS CLASS* (have to have business class for static IP and bandwidth usage) dsl line is not cheap. That's why I'm looking at advertising, especially popups/popunders as they are the most lucrative. But even with popups, it would be hard to make enough $$$ for the cheapest DSL (1/2 speed of my cable ISP) and almost impossible to make enough for an average DSL (same speed as cable).

Then there is installation, electricity, a UPS, maye a tape backup, etc.

And to top it all off, I have to pay taxes on the income generated by the site. Unless I register a non-profit org which is like $250 to file the paperwork with the state, not to mention the legal fees that would be involved. It would easily by over $1000 just to get it started.

Behind all of that is she-who-must-be-obeyed. I love her with all my heart, but she's having a real problem with the money (not to mention the time) I would be spending on this. I can't blame her wither. Hell, *I'M* having trouble swallowing it sometimes. That's why it has to pay for itself.

So you see my crazy freind ;) , that unless I come up with some sort of revenue generation, my site will only last as long as my cable ISP doesn't notice me, which won't be much longer I fear.

P.S. Sorry this was so long...
