  1. When I used to play CMBO, I remember having downloaded sounds that came right out of SPR. I remember in particular the MG-42 sounds, and the 20mm quad-flak. Does anyone know where to find these? I would like to install them in CMBB. Thanks in advance. [ May 12, 2003, 07:56 PM: Message edited by: AnonymousOxide ]
  2. www.combatmission.com should have at least 1 mod for every T-34 due to Mr. Noobie. Go to the CMMOS mods section, and then navigate down towards the Svinarnik Soviet dirty tank mods. Take note that there are multiple pages, not just one. You'll need CMMOS to install them, which you should have anyway.
  3. I'd really enjoy getting back into CMBB, but this driver thing is a serious turn-off. I suppose the only choice is to dual-boot 2 XP's. One with 30.82's, and one with my current OS and latest drivers. It's interesting to note that PowerDVD also has serious problems with the 43.XX drivers. I get a TV/out error every time I try to run a movie. (without using TV/out) Win DVD also has this problem. From the amount of research I've done, I've gathered that macrovision is the culprit, and one should disable it at all costs or run earler drivers. Nvidia is getting sloppy...
  4. Okay, I just installed CMBB after not having played it in a few months, and now I'm finding that my frame rates are a slide show. 2.5fps sounds about right. Am I experiencing the same thing you guys are? AMD Athlon XP 2400 512mb Corsair PC2700 A7N8X Deluxe motherboard (Nforce2 2.03) Geforce 3 with 43.00 drivers. Hmmmm... is there anything I can do?
  5. Steel beasts models turrets being blown off, although I bet way too frequently. Every second shot seems like it knocks off the turret, is that even possible? It's just an AP/sabot shell with little HE.
  6. Word homes! Yeah, I love Mech 2 with a passion, (hell I still listen to the amazing but short music tracks on the CD!) however I'm shamed to admit that I didn't put much time into GBL (which is arguably the best Mech 2 game) for some reason or another. I'm not sure what it is about Mech 2 that appeals to me, but it's probably a combination of many factors. The atmosphere --even though the graphics have no textures, or not many-- is perfection; the music is intense yet beautiful; and the combat is fascinating, playing out at the perfect speed --not too slow, not too fast-- alowing one to think about his or her combat decisions. The game was genius to say the least. There's not much to say about mech 4, it just isn't a good game. The combat is too fast, the mechs have lost all their weight. --that is, not only do they not feel BIG, but they don't feel ANY particular size or weight, they just are-- (NOTE: MechWarrior 3 pulled off weight beutifully) The combat is uninsteresting for a number of reasons such as the weapons being un-interestingly portrayed and the poor soundeffects etc. Also, I'm un-impressed by where the series has gone. I found the wars between Clan Wolf, Jade Falcon, and all the others to be more interesting than that of Inner Sphere vs. the clans. Well, then again, the new focus is probably just being done wrong by Microsoft, they do have poor taste (proof: between mission cut-scenes are horrendous!) KwK43 L/71 Hey, what do you think about the new re-designed mechs in Mech 4? That is, they changed the look of the mechs to make them up-to-date.
  7. Now that we're on the topic of Microsoft, I "vaguely" remember a certain MechWarrior franchise going down the drain THE SECOND Microsoft got it's greedy hands on it. God, MechWarrior 2 was... wow, now that was a game! What I say is true. Just look at mech 4, it's turned the mech games from deep simulations into f*cking arcade games! Why? So it appeals to the masses/twitch crowd/console gamer types which will amount to more $$$ for Microsoft. Games are so big these days that it's not about the games anymore, but rather the money. Companies like BTS are examples of what developers once were like in the past. Now all I can think of is business suites when I think of gaming companies. Sorry for the rant.
  8. That's Jean Reno from the movie Léon (which is called The Professional in the US and is edited). That's funny that you mention it's a French guy. He looks French, but he's not. He plays an Italian in Léon, so I figured he's Italian in real life, however after reading about him, I found out that he was born in Casablanca!

  10. Would the squad on the tank provide additional armor thickness? Is this modeled in CMBB?
  11. MP5's! MP5's!!!  OMFG SPAS-12!!111!!!  gOtSkIllz@AOL.com email me if u wantu play cOuNtEr StRiKe.
  12. Guns can be tricky. The best course of action when you're equipped with poor tanks is to avoid the guns. Move a platoon or two of infantry in the direction of the gun, and later in the game you should be in position to over-run the gun. If you must use your armor, try shoot-and-scoot tactics. Oh and large (even small) caliber mortars rule.
  13. Boooooooooo! Just kidding! Yaaaaaaay! What game is dis for again? I know nofink.
  14. Where is the BMP for the ammo depletion bar? I installed a new interface pack which I didn't like, then when I switched back the depletion bar didn't change. Not only can I not find the BMP in the new pack, I can't find it in my BMP backup directory either, what's the story with this thing?
  15. Oh my God, I've wanted to bring up this issue since CMBO, and I've always been forgetting. Good stuff.
  16. Well alright then, the skirted Turan II has a problem with the turret skirt. The skirt, for some reason, makes it so I see through the turret, --that is to say, I should see the actually turret through the holes in the skirt, but I see the background instead as if the turret is in cloaking mode-- unlike the bottom skirt which abscures my view of the side hull due to the "fence" style skirt.
  17. There was a big Panther series update done by KwazyDog, he changed the stock CMBB Panthers for the better. The pack was released on Boots 'n Tracks, and it is no longer there. Any ideas?
  18. Maybe you should consider working on a pack that combines all the mods, and realease it as one big file. This would be less confusing and much more useful to downloaders. Gordon's had the right idea for some time now, he releases in large packs.
