  1. Using the Fire Direction Centre in the C2, it seems to work. Soviet Armored Infantry No Radio Infantry called a fire mission. The Engineer Battalion HQ newly arrived shares the contact icon also. He has Radio and the ISU152 also. I will keep an eye on it and don't want to jump the gun. They could have spotted the evading German infantry independently. But I am skeptical about the coincidence.
  2. It is not for a beginner, the administration is a game by itself. Then the Soviet C2 is a challenge to play the game with some sort of integrity. *SPOILERS* The right flank I found is the best way to reach line three. But you need to destroy 30% of the German forces. The briefing tells you to lead with the engineers and let the infantry do the breaking through. I don't know or it is realistic but I use the fire direction centre as a communication channel. Call out artillery and all HQ units can access artillery. Hypothetically it is done by field telephones. Once it is on 'Preparing' and you can adjust regimental HQ knows you made contact. In all Soviet games the Regimental HQ has radio not much use if all the others and that includes Company HQ's can't receive as they don't have a radio. As Soviet I lead with artillery or with armor as they have radio communication. Sorry for the long rant.
  3. Different people have a different learning curve. Veteran up to Iron is the sandbox stage. Then change the name of the map and save it in the QB folder if it is not already there and play it again against a human player. In which you can have completely different units. Then look at the maps and first change the time of the year and you have a different looking map. Then add some houses and you are on a different aspect. First steps in editing. CM is incredible value for money.
  4. That's two action squares or 16 meters which is rather short. But I suppose they didn't play cricket in the Soviet Union.
  5. Role of the infantry to flash the other guy out of his foxhole. Best done with the grenade. No such command in CM trust the animation.
  6. First my apologies for publishing a spoiler. I leave you to it.
  7. I think the initial orders were to take the town and take it from there. Anyway have fun it is different against a human player. Keep Ivan at a distance their 85mm is just about equal below 1000 meters.
  8. Somehow we drifted again completely off topic.
  9. You need an AI plan if you want to publish it for other people to use. At least that is my understanding. For personal use which is in my case H&H on Hot seat I can't see the point of AI triggers. The worth Valid applies, I think is the map CM needs to publish.
  10. Always a Catch 22 vs a human player. Put yourself in your opponents shoes but your opponent is not an ignoramus either. Never be in a hurry to die.
  11. You are right the ammo from the truck is not in the tank's inventory the crew just got the ammo. But he still has only AP and HE under Ammo Here at the start of a battle the MG's ammo is listed under ammo.
  12. Like putting snipers on a balcony, I will be for ever grateful for that tip of you two. We can play some scenarios more realistically now. Would it be possible to introduce subterranean scenarios. Before the pandemic I spent some time in Seoul and to see the subterranean infrastructure of that city is unbelievable. Really could have been constructed with the crazy antics in mind of their northern neighbour. The streets are quiet but down below shopping arcades entertainment areas all linked by a subway system.
  13. The US is using an orange as an analogy for its operations. It makes sense.
  14. It is a lot better than driving a jeep on hunt. I know what he means it is frustrating that common sense can't be applied in some situations. Crews dismounting temporarily to find shelter should be possible. Some battles have nutty AI decisions and you miss a human player. Had two T34/85 driving right in front of three Tigers and two Panthers. I realize now the bigger the map the more difficult to design triggers for the AI.
  15. Recon, determine the sectors and engage. Why not have a 1000 plane raid and get it done (Mashing) and over it.
  16. That is the reason you can only abandon guns? It is buggy during a barrage it is natural to find shelter temporarily. But you can't do it in CM.
  17. Their morale could play a role too. Commander is killed they are rattled (the next state is shaken) and just don't have enough fighting spirit left. It makes me think they got MG42 belt ammo from the truck while their MG34 could be magazine fed in an AFG. A little like a Revolver chambered for .45 ACP to load it you had to use half moon clips If you had a spare ammo in 1911 magazines they would be useless.
  18. Only the crew can acquire ammo. I think the only way a tank crew can leave a tank is by bailing out. If they could dismount the story could be different. Check I think they bailed out and that could be the reason they can't acquire ammo but they did. Also you could click the spanner symbol and check what is damaged on the tank. The symbols of the two MG 42's are the two crew not the weapons itself. The main gun is damaged by default the coaxial gun could be damaged as well. Cheers your guess is as could as is mine. The way to find out is to test it. I have it in modern warfare. Crew of Stryker A have Javelins but the launcher has been taken out. They couldn't supply the Javelin team of Stryker B of their Javelins. Something which need to changed or I had a bug. PS the two symbols are probably MG34 as they were AFV MG's had to do with barrel changes I read somewhere. But they shot the same ammo.
  19. Isolate Rot makes perfect sense. The one who designed this scenario knew what he was doing.
  20. Just compare it to a potato and what you need it for. Peel (Is recon): mash it or cut it into chips the choice is yours. The wrong choice makes you to put it away and try again a year later.
  21. You can guess it too. The mini mission is to protect the FO so that he can approach his OP in relative safety. The enemy as he designed and choose the map knows all likely OP's. We further masks his approach by an initial assault. In this mission as the designer has bushes and foxholes already prepared it is reasonable to suspect a 'Lure and Trap; situation.
  22. I don't think the Russians will give as the information required to play realistic Combat Mission games. The Germans were convinced the Panzer III was superior to anything the Soviets could produce. Like they say the rest is history.
  23. Russian AT-Rifle hit a Tiger penetration was recorded. Possible if it went through the top which is 25 mm. It counted as an opening hit. Still have the screen shot somewhere. Couldn't see the commander on replay.
