Keep firing in hull down for longer than 20 seconds without being hit. It doesn't happen in CM like that.

Hunt/Move Command and Taking Fire
chuckdyke replied to Simcoe's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
Interesting question, I am 71 years and talked English for 56 years. Technically it is not my first language. Here in CM hunting in the command panel tends to confuse people. The closest unit in which we can apply hunting is the sniper. After all the snipe is a gamebird and very elusive. Like my father told me: "Je moet dus 'n fiets hebben voordat je kan fietsen." (You must have a bicycle before you can go cycling.) Same with hunt it is related to Hund (German) Hond (Dutch) meaning dog or hound. -

Read any dictionary the definition is the pursuit and killing of animals. I think it is a poor choice of words and leaves it open to interpretation. My interpretation is moving to contact. Sometimes the contact fires at you more accurately and with more fire superiority. The 'hunt command' becomes very limited. Entering woods or building. -

Did the unit on hunt had a full contact? Who spotted the sniper? -

There is a feature you may consider when you play Soviets. Every HQ can access mortars, if I have an HQ which has no radio I call a mission (Harass for infantry Smoke for tanks) This simulates flares or field telephone etc. Once you can adjust it means communication has been established and Company and Regimental HQ can direct units FO's can override the mission. Tip a cover arc over Wardienen quickly reveals elevated and hidden terrain. -

Acronyms I deviate from it a little. O.O.K.A in other words approaches suitable for every unit. O is Observe. O is Obstacles (Infantry ODZ LDZ) (Tanks Features Forests etc) K Terrain (roads and bridges) A is approach. Use OCOKA to identify problems. -
20 minutes on hide within say 100 meters before the tank can ford where the infantry can ford a river.

3rd Company has only two sections I just checked but they all have a leader. The German for platoon is Zug maybe it was in a patch or something. Happy gaming. With the snow you maybe not aware of the reversed slope of the village. All their half tracks have radio. -

Tutorial of Battle for Normandy. Lost count how many times I returned to this one. Select all trucks plot the way points of the first truck on the road. The two trucks behind will have the same amount of waypoints but not on the road. it is just a matter of dragging and snapping the waypoints in concert with the first truck. I found this goes quick. You need some practice. -

I put my money on the Soviets if you play H&H. Please prove me wrong. -

In concert with artillery and infantry. Use the analog of a game of chess. Combined arms is the queen. -

Not for some time anyway. I still have many Campaigns to do. Thank you and happy gaming. -
You do it with METT-TC M=Mission on the situation map you're warned against mines. E=Enemy if I have no troops there I would protect T=Terrain (KT) with mines. So the Sappers go slow to reach their KT. T= Troops on hand. The FO the Soviets have only one. It is crucial to set up an effective artillery mission. TC is time and communication. The plan is to punch through the German defenses in the last 30 minutes. Communication the Soviets have little or no radio. HQ's must call fire missions to communicate the attack. It is fun.

Or assume a minefield is there. You start the game with engineers and the terrain has some good OP among bushes and trees. I found crawling a lot saver than go on hunt. Better be exhausted than dead or the player runs out of patience. You may run out of time it is better than to run out of men.

It is not a big deal. If the terrain is dry a truck can negotiate terrain as well as a halftrack. Tutorial Battle for Normandy starts with three trucks. Study the move tools innovate and after trial and error I came up with a solution which doesn't take that long. Trucks follow infantry on large maps as they are mobile ammo dumps containing plenty of goodies. The driver can become a bazooka operator. Far better than leaving the truck behind. -

Infantry at the base, Sherman at 6 o'clock now position two .30 MG's. Plot oblique fire across the field. Advance infantry 'Road to Montebourg is an excellent campaign to practice this. -

Hunt is obviously the wrong move. Hunt is to move to contact (Full Contact). The AI at times takes ten seconds to react to their full contact. DZ stands for Danger Zone. You have linear DZ and open DZ avoid them and if you cross do it ASAP. -

It is called attrition warfare. My tip 10 seconds to move from cover to cover. If you're lucky you may spot something shooting at your units. -
Mines, I found there is no need to find it out the 'Hard Way'. I think 'Hunt' is the wrong way to go about it. The fact that in a certain scenarios you have engineers I regard mines like any other enemy unit. One of the purpose of a minefield is to channel your approach in an area of your opponents choosing. While the other units are sorted in their assembly areas, the sappers attack suspected areas. Their approach is on slow on hand and knees. It seems to work no casualties.
