    Not unless they are the airborne 2 inch mortars that airborne sections are equipped with. Those can shoot from buildings. However the sections are only provided smoke rounds as standard. However the ammunition between the two mortar types is the same. So get that airborne 2 inch mortar some high explosive through acquiring from an vehicle, sharing from an adjacent standard 2 inch mortar team, or buddying aiding an incapacitated team, and then you can have an airborne 2 inch mortar firing high explosive rounds from buildings. It's only able to do direct fire however so basically becomes a grenade launcher rather than an mortar.
    There's an video in the thread linked below.
    CMBN rather than CMFI but probably still stands true.

    Indeed.
    If would like I can try chuck mine up onto the mod site once I return to my computer. Should mention that I’ve done them based from battlefronts textures mind you.

    I agree that QB selection should mirror editor. The addition of the tank platoon into the Russian Recce Battalion (Old) is pretty important, as well as organic jeeps and trucks in the ww2 infantry battalions.
    I would also like to be able to add special ammo to at least supply trucks if not more vehicles. Having extra 82mm mortar rounds for my on-map mortars or being able to reload a purchased ATGM team without having to get a transport from the ATGM platoon of a separate battalion would be a great addition.

    I do not remember experiencing mortar crews hesitating to use nearby vehicle radios, might have though. However I know that I've seen other units hesitating to use their own radios. So maybe that could be the same "radio malfunctioning or problems getting radio contact" that you see experience with them. It's mentioned in MOS:96B2P's thread.

    See I cannot find that in the 4.0 manual, nearest I can discover is this segment below on page 57.

    And I do not believe that's quite saying the same thing.

    Oliver_88 got a reaction from A Canadian Cat in [4.0] Does distance to higher HQ´s affect morale?
    Not sure whether that quote from the manual answers your questions. But when for example an section is not in contact with its platoon headquarters (for whatever reason) but can get in contact with the company headquarters (through close C2 only) then they bypass the platoon headquarters in the chain of command and come under the company headquarters. Therefore also gaining the same benefits to morale when under suppression one imagines, also passing details about contacts.

      So having the senior headquarters near should benefit the moral for the junior headquarters, but should not affect those subordinate to the junior headquarters unless they do not have contact with that junior headquarters. If that makes sense.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Level_of_detail
    Files that have an .mdr extension are models. The ones that have lod written into the filename are versions of the same model but in decreasing detail. They are used instead when games do not need to show the object in maximum detail, such as when the viewpoint is far away from the object, and so they use these lower detail versions to save performance.
    For example when opening them up in Blender;
    smod_british_helmet-para.mdr, the helmet model using 199 vertices, 520 edges, 320 faces
    smod_british_helmet-para-lod-1.mdr, the helmet model using 156 vertices, 396 edges, 240 faces
    smod_british_helmet-para-lod-2.mdr, the helmet model using 73 vertices, 172 edges, 100 faces
    smod_british_helmet-para-lod-3.mdr, the helmet model using 61 vertices, 140 edges, 80 faces
    smod_british_helmet-para-lod-4.mdr, the helmet model using 37 vertices, 76 edges, 40 faces
    smod_british_helmet-para-lod-5.mdr, the helmet model using 16 vertices, 30 edges, 16 faces
    You can see that with each model for this helmet the detail (number of vertices, edges, faces the models made up from) decreases. Having the most detail smod_british_helmet-para.mdr would be the one being used when your viewing the unit close up. And smod_british_helmet-para-lod-5.mdr having the least detail would be used when the viewpoints very far from the unit.

    Right I've known about this for an little while now, sorry for the delay. Seems there's an limitation or bug in an game mechanic that enables you to discover where an enemy unit is even though you cannot see them. I've not done any PBEM though I imagine that this could be quite an issue for those that do. I've recorded something to explain and show whats going on. But question before doing so is I'm not sure what would be better to do, either post the recording here or private message someone involved in development/testing instead.

    @DerKommissarregarding your question about whether the Saladin Armoured Car was a viable concept, the truthful answer has to be that it wasn't tested to its extreme. However nobody can deny that it was a versatile vehicle as demonstrated in the following image:

    Clockwise from top left, South Arabia (probably the Radfan), Northern Ireland, Indonesian Confrontation, Aden. These are just some examples of where it was used on active service with the British Army. By all accounts it acquitted itself well and was more than capable of dealing with uppity natives in the colonies and any neighbouring countries offering them safe haven and support.
    Had it been tested in a high intensity conflict with 3 Shock Army rolling across the Inner German Border, I suspect that if used in its reconnaissance role and handled well, it would have given a very good account of itself. It would certainly ruin any Soviet recce asset's day and was capable of knocking over APCs in service at the time and even the introduction of the BMP-1 doesn't really change that. The Armoured Car Regiment of the time was a pretty swept up organisation with an HQ Squadron, three Sabre Squadrons and an air troop for an all up strength of 30 x Ferrets, 24 x Saladins, 17 x Saracens and 6 x Sioux Helicopters.

    I've not seen Fury, might watch should it happen to be on television when am bored. I only saw Hacksaw Ridge for the same reason. The scenes with the bar gunner carrying an torso as an bullet shield before tossing himself an grenade. The scene with the medic swatting grenades away in mid-air. They did not work for me and just seemed more comical than gut-wrenching. Not sure about the story either, gibson wanting an religious viewpoint on everything I guess.
    Dunkirk I went to see. As the subject matters more interesting to me. I thought was alright film I guess. The sound was great, every time they are shot at scared the crap out of me. The messing with the timeline was confusing at first until you realise that each story/timeline are merging together to become the same story/timeline towards the end. Some things grated on me though, to try and keep it short;
    The germans are being kept back from the beaches by an perimeter that seems to be about two streets away? The Andrew appearing to be fecking powerless in the whole matter. But the smalls ships appearing are Christ reborn. They have an boat loaded with soaking wet and oil covered troops but sail down to fecking Dorset rather than return them into Ramsgate like everyone else would have? The director I believe said that using an French post war destroyer rather than CGI should not be noticeable unless you know what an British destroyer from the era looks like. Well I do know, so was rather noticeable to me. I echo Warts also in remembering the BBC's Dunkirk being rather good however.

    noticed and tested this back in november, yes it is the case when passed through visual also, its also the case for friendly contact information in iron mode
    the age of the contact is being updated but not the location
    it also seemed to be the reason you sometimes see contact icons darting between different locations when no units are selected
    but I've presumed its just an user interface problem and that behind the scenes the units are aware about the new location improving the spotting time anyway

    Oliver_88 got a reaction from Bulletpoint in British Army 2 Inch Mortar Bug?
    hahahaha, sorry, I've figured out what's gone on now regarding the airborne mortar, no bug there, the parachute section do not indeed have any high explosive for their mortars, just smoke, so took the same team (loading an save from an turn before the video posted above) and wasted the smoke rounds, no other 51mm rounds remained in their equipment, the reason he was firing high explosive was simply that he was managing to leach an single high explosive round each time (so staying below the grenades in his ammunition list) from the platoons standard 2 inch mortar that was outside an nearby building, should have realised that before

    keep your 2 inch mortar detachment away from the parachute sections if you do not want the rounds to be wasted on germans that are close enough to be dealt with from small arms and prefer to use such rounds as an mortar

    Not sure whether this would count as being an relevant one for this thread, but would wish for the quick battles purchase screen to more closely match the scenario editor purchase screen, for most part because saddens me an bit that in the quick battles purchase screen (for CMBN) some formations are not available (for example Machinegun Battalion and Parachute Battalion for the British Army) and some cannot be purchased with their transport (for example Air Landing Battalion and Antitank Battery [independent] for the British Army). But also as I think in quick battles would be good/interesting to be able to choose formations from more than one Army be able to tailor the supply, headcount and vehicle status for my units.
