The Recce boys weren't "b***s" they were the "Glosters".

Thanks! We knew we could count on your pointless negativity to start the year off right.
Steve
The sharpest comment of the year so far. Of course if I accused the Arrogant One of making a negative remark I'd get labelled a "fanboi". Oh, I feel something wet, what's that? Ah, it's just water off a duck's back.

I was going to send my driver team out into the mortar fire to be killed
I think that given that you made a genuine mistake regarding how the "Acquire" function works, you should restart the battle.

My understanding is that could be fired both ways. If it couldn't then BFC wasted a lot of man hours with their modelling.

With regards the reinforcements above mentioned. The passengers from two jeeps helped themselves to some 9mm without having to dismount. The rest of the spare ammo went to the blokes who had been in the fight since the beginning up near the Railway Station as they were running low. I just made sure that I parked the Jeeps out of sight of Jerry.

When you say 'modelled', you're referring to if one were to zoom in on the actual soldier?
Yes, that's right. And I think that it looks great.

No one wonders "what's going on", Marvin Gaye told us the answer to that one back in 1971.
In the meantime I think that a certain someone is not just "stubborn and stupid" but so arrogant that he feels the constant need to tell us what we think about the way Steve and the other boys in the band run their company.

Just a quick follow up. It shows how long it is since I played "Lonsdale's Block", I had forgotten that it is actually modelled being fired from the shoulder. And that smoke can be fired from inside a building. Also, the mortarman carries a Sten which comes in handy when the close combat kicks off.
-
The airborne had their own version of the 2inch mortar specifically for the purpose of firing smoke or flare rounds, I assume for indicating their position to follow up waves. It had a fabric strap attached so that it could be worn around the body.
I don't know how it is modelled in game but would suspect that it appears the same as the standard mortar. I also think that glider borne troops such as the South Staffordshires would have been equipped with the basic infantry mortar, rather than the parachute version.

I recently tried "Courage and Fortitude" again for the first time since 2014. My men got stuck in the hedgerows somewhere between 40 and 50 times during the last battle. I ended up losing count. Not a fun experience. It does make me wonder if the same thing will happen if I join the Jocks on their day out to Epsom.

I could only manage a "Major Victory" after the Poles got cut down by a pair of mg's. Grrrr!

@Topkick Perhaps you didn't scroll down Page 4 far enough. And downloaded the original ones by mistake.
CMBN Ez US Infantry-Patched Uniforms_Normandy (Khaki) (thefewgoodmen.com)
CMBN Ez US Infantry-Patched Uniforms_Normandy (Olive Drab) (thefewgoodmen.com)
These two folders contain the afore mentioned v.2 version, they are near the bottom of the page and appear side by side.

With their tanks it was 1945 before they adopted the German Idea a modified 17 pounder
So the Firefly from 1944 is a figment of BFC's imagination?

@umlaut Picking up on your earlier post about the Recce Team having the 2inch Mortar, I also noticed that when the bloke with the Mortar switches to his smg, he is carrying the standard infantry version of the Sten whilst his two mates have the Airborne variant. That seems a bit odd to me. But, it doesn't really break the immersion.
I don't normally play fictional scenarios. But I gave this a whirl a few years back when someone brought out a Kriegsmarine Uniform mod which I think looks great.

I know the blokes are in a building, but at first glance it looks like they are walking over the burning tank. Brave boys.

Just go into your Data folder and click on New Folder and name it "Z".

Contact the Help Desk, you should get sorted fairly quickly.
Wasp ?
in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Posted · Edited by Warts 'n' all
I think both the Wasp Mk1 built in Limeyland and the Mk2 from Canada were based on the Universal Carrier. But if someone has more detailed knowledge it would be nice to know.
And my apologies to @weapon2010 the 49th Recce boys weren't "Glosters" (they were in 43rd div). The 49th were bunch of Tykes. It's been years since I played CMBO, so long ago in fact that I kept my results in a notepad. And by pure co-incidence the next mission I played after 49th Recce is called "5th Glosters".
