  1. I don't see the point of searching for mines. The Milk Snatcher closed them all. Ah, sorry, wrong kind of mines.
  2. I think that you are right. Which might explain this lucky chap's air of cosiness, and smugness.
  3. And it goes without saying that I'm sending my boys into battle with this classic.
  4. What follows will be my own befuddled musings on the Claymores Through Kleve campaign as I go along. Other forumites are welcome to share their own experiences. First up you'll find that it is as much a mudbath, as bloodbath. And, of course that is an accurate reflection of how it was back in 1945. So if you want sunny days, with bone dry ground and long sight lines this wont be for you. Just as a way of illustrating the murk ... If you listen carefully these Jocks are saying, "If that Sassenach Bastard wants us tae pose fer pictures, we want more drams, now!""
  5. That tank's radio shouldn't have any influence, buttoned or unbuttoned. As long as the howitzer is in contact with the HQ that wants to use it. I've tested this battle, and all of the para and glider HQs have been able to call in howitzer missions during the Set-up Phase. Hopefully you will get it sorted, and enjoy the battle.
  6. Your picture shows both the mortar and the howitzer being available to the HQ unit that you have highlighted. So I don't see a problem.
  7. The White Red White symbol goes back to WW1. I'm not sure how it came about, it might have been based on a cavalry pennant. Even the USatians used it on the few tanks that they had, and there is a tank in a museum in the States showing the vertical stripes. In WW2 the BEF kicked off with an all White symbol. In the desert Red White Red was used in the early days, to be replaced with White Red White. i think the change happened around the time of Operation Crusader but, if someone knows more please tell us. The RAF roundel was used on army vehicles in the Med sometimes, probably to ward off fighter pilots with bad eyesight. For me adopting the "Allied" star as it is often called, right across 21st Army Group in the build up to D-day made perfect sense in terms of ease of identification.
  8. Perhaps he is referring to the white and red stripes which were a throw back to WW1, and used in North Africa and Italy.
  9. Pip Roberts stands up in his scout car, and says, "I think you'll find that it is an Allied star, old chap".
  10. Of course, not being able to bring your gun to bear will also reduce ammo usage. The 400 year old says, in a desperate attempt to move this thread back on topic, whilst we wait for the OP to provide a save game. Exits stage right humming a tune by Diana Ross ---------------------------------------------->
  11. Elizabeth serves Noddle Head a quart of Whitehall Blindman's Stout. Then mutters "You should have gone to Ye Olde Spectacle Shoppe". It is the set on the following day. Thanks.
  12. I'm somewhat puzzled by the time of this mission. It starts at 8:05. Which is five minutes before the previous mission which you fight with the same troops. Is anyone else playing the campaign and noticing the same error?
  13. Oh, I remember playing this many years ago. Just because it is "infantry heavy", that doesn't mean the German have no AFVs at all. And as Prunella Scales once said, "You can never have too many bazookas, Jane".
  14. I've never seen anything that bad before. Perhaps you might put in a help desk ticket.
  15. Hahahahahahahahahhahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha. For those times when LOL just doesn't cut it.
  16. Yeah, and I still have the spike sticking out of me bonce to prove it.
  17. They most certainly are. Give me a quart of Elizabeth's "Whitehall Brain Buster Ale" any day.
  18. You seem to be forgetting that LOS does not equal LOF. Judging by your screenshots, your unbuttoned commanders can see the Shermans. But, their eyes are obviously somewhat higher than the gunner's sights, and therefore it is quite possible that you have no LOF. In a situation like this, it might have paid you to give your armour Target Arcs and slow movement commands up to the hedgerow across the road, rather than having two rows of hedges in front of you. Of course, whether this would have helped can only be tested if you provide save files to your fellow forumites.
  19. I don't look at threads once they've been locked. And I'd forgotten the reason given at the time. I still think it would be a good idea to stick it in the Scenario Depot, not all FGMers are formuites, and vice versa.
  20. I'm wondering why Mr.X, (possibly) formerly known as Twitter, hasn't put this on FGM's Scenario Depot.
  21. I'll probably be working my way through "Downfall" for many months. But, I'll certainly give this a go sometime. Thanks for your effort.
  22. Welcome back. Your site certainly looks worth checking out.
  23. And here we have Pip Roberts in his scout car showing off his nice bright white star.
