Hummm. Perhaps we should pitch an idea to create a CM game that combines the late ware CMFB, and CMRT forces into a new game family. Once the end of the war module of CMRT and Commonwealth module for CMFB are done all the units will be there with the appropriate TO&E.

I doubt that the allies would start a conflict with the russians in 1946 but perhaps the ruskies would be a bit more agressive ...If the russians did try to expand the communist ideas further west i'm sure they would have gotten the same treatment as the japanese...A nuke or two ! End of conflict...
But if BFC decided to make this possible...I would be more then happy to 'forgett' about the american nukes...Let the conflict begin !
An east-west war in 1946 would be very cool indeed.
And Fulda gap...any timeframe....yes,yes,yes...bring it on...

Graviteam did the Iran-Iraq war.  It was very cool.  M-60s, and Chieftains fighting T-62s and T-55s and the like.  There were M-113s and BMP-1s thrown in for good measure.  I have also done a couple IIW sandboxes with Steel Beasts.  Everything you need is there.

No we aren’t ignoring it, but the reality is there are limits.
Manila was one of the few if not only large urban engagements.
Players like tanks... there were exceedingly few armor engagements especially if you don’t include the early Russia engagements.
Over the course of 1940 to 1945 the vast majority of US and commonwealth engagements were jungle fighting or island assaults.  Yeah I am sure you can find some examples of other type battles, but if you apply the same logic to CMBN how well would it sell if you could only portray maybe 25% of combat?  Seriously a pacific game where even Guadalcanal is difficult to game? Forget Tarawa or Iwo.  Even the Burma campaign would be difficult.
I have long advocated a CM Vietnam game but have since come to a similar conclusion. CM just wouldn’t be able to do it justice so why invest effort and time when there are other areas that could be done..... Fulda Gap!

It is not clear to me if you truly need to capture the screen at runtime to do your analysis or if you could just use fraps or any other similar software to capture video and do your analysis offline.

Yeah. I mean, after playing CMBS, how can I play CMBN? You want me to downgrade my Abrams to Shermans? /s
The engine 4 is vastly superior to 1. This is a huge shift. If the CMSF milieu is not your thing, then don’t buy. If you do buy, you’ll enjoy another CM experience.

    Edited to add: Merry Christmas!

You're getting 10 years worth of development. Anybody that doesn't like that doesn't have to buy it. Stick with SF1 if you don't think SF2 isn't worth it. But they didn't have to update the game, they could've left it to rot in it's 0 engine state, like CMA will. The fact they even didn't it is gift but they still deserve compensation for the work.
    Mord.

You don't have to buy it. Battlefront is offering a product for a certain price and you can decide if it is worth it. No harm done.
And as they stated before there will be some kind of discount for ppl already owning Shock Force. I'm looking forward to the engine update.

I love when people start comparing Bradleys and Strykers based on their gaming experience

The games like CM focus on the actual combat and don't consider issues like logistics and operational or strategic mobility. And those were the two main issues considered, when Stryker brigades were designed. They can be deployed anywhere in the world faster than any other type of unit. They have also were high operational mobility, which was demonstrated during the recent deployments to Baltic States, Poland and Romania. So yeah, keep comparing the armour and weapons of Bradleys and Strykers because it's relevant

Basically, glTexImage2D function loads images into GPU memory and glDeleteTextures deletes them from GPU memory. From a trace capture, I saw that images for the scene were loaded into memory when entering battle and they get deleted when exiting battle to main menu. While flying around the map and looking at things near and far, no glDeleteTextures calls are made. If you don't want to take a trace, you can verify this by watching the GPU memory consumption through the stages of being in the main menu, loading a save and quitting to main menu. My GPU has 4096 MB of VRAM and the highest usage that I saw (with the help of GPU-Z) was slightly above 1300 MB. It's definitely possible to exceed this in more complex scenes.

Also, I don't know if anyone has mentioned it on this thread, but I have found that limiting the frame rate through NVIDIA Inspector to 60 fps greatly improves smoothness. On my system, this is due to the fact when I look at a scene that is not busy, such as the sky or the horizon, the GPU will render the scene at a very high frame rate. Even though a scene is simple, this increases the temperature of the GPU and even makes the fan kick in. Transitioning to a more busy scene creates a stutter where the frame rate can drop into the teens while the GPU cools down and the various clock speeds adjust themselves.

Thank you! I use the 32 bit version of python 2.7.9 that you can download from the official site https://www.python.org/downloads/. There are alternative python implementations, but I have not tested them.

I've been working on some tools for CM, and wanted to show you a cross platform tool for working with brz files.

I've been playing CM2x games since Shock Force version 1.0. The game engine has come a long way and the quality of the maps and 3D models in CMBS is up to BFC's usual high standard. IMHO, this title is the pinnacle of the series,

I've been experimenting with WeGo vs real-time, and though I like both, I've settled into real-time as my preferred mode, it just seems more immersive (and pretty darned hard to keep up with).  To my surprise, I've been holding my own in the scenarios, have been playing mostly as the U.S./Ukranian forces. If one is patient and uses good tactics, you can survive, though the U.S. is noticeably short in effective anti-air defenses. My vehicles have been getting creamed by Russian air-to-ground support aircraft and trying to hide your vehicles in the trees is not a valid tactic, at least that's been my experience so far. Keeping vehicles moving seems to get the best results.

It's a stark contrast to CMSF, where Blue casualties were fairly low, in CMBS, casualties can be horrific, as I expected. To the folks who are new to BFC games or did not play CMSF, check out the Strategy and Tactics section of the CMSF forum, there's some great hints regarding survivability on the modern battlefield.

Great job Battlefront, I've been waiting for another modern title for a while, this one meets my expectations. I hope there will be modules for UK and German forces.

Also, FWIW, I spent a little time last night tweaking my video card drivers, the textures in the game on my system just did not come up to the quality of the screen shots. I resolved that issue with the following tweaks:

Create a profile in Nvidia control panel for the CMBS executable
    Anisotropic filtering              set to 8x
Antialiasing                          let the app decide (turned on in game video settings)
Negative LOD bias              set to allow
Texture Filtering                  set to Very High Quality
Texture filtering - trilinear optimization    set to On
Triple Buffering                  set to On  (this may improve choppiness for OpenGL)
    Vertical Sync                      set to On

On my system, this significantly improved the texture quality, especially the vehicle textures.
