  1. Hm, is it? I thought they would fly in low and jump from 30m. ? I must say the "intro sequence", well first few minutes, of this scenario, with the air attack warning sirens, the humm of the Dakotas, the P47 attacks and finally this reinforcement report are pretty immersive. We'll see how the fighting works out.
  2. Interesting. Last time, a long while ago, I ran through the whole "patch from scratch" process, too. Just out of curiosity and because I may need it next year: If I now can install V3.0 of CMBN right away, what happens to my old versions of CW and MG? How and when would I install them? Or do I install really everything in one go with this V3.0 install and only need to enter the registration codes for CW and MG at the end? THAT would indeed be perfect.
  3. Here is a nice clip about modern days paradrops in Germany: http://de.sputniknews.com/militar/20160421/309358114/humvee-zerschellen-bei-luftlandung-in-deutschland.html What shall we say? Forget P47's. I want this feature in CMBN!
  4. Ah, yes. Can be. The turn before, I received a LMG team as reinforcements. They may have been the messengers. Never seen that before, but: Ok, you learn something new every day...
  5. Gents, I am playing Dropzone Charlie from the battle pack. Defending with the Germans, I received a reinforcement prompt, that approx 150 Paras just landed. Well, since the Germans don't have any, they must be US. ? Is that as it should be? I have never seen reinforcement notifications for the other side before.
  6. Yep, but even the Welsh chicken out and normally cut it to "LlanfairPG". By the way: "Ll" is pronounced link the German "chl".
  7. That's at least clearly a StuG III. Count the three support rollers and six idlers. The Pz III had a height of 2.5m, a little less for the StuG. So, the height seems to match the standing guy. Keep in mind: It seems to stand in a 45deg angle from the picture plane. I.e., you see only "half" of it's length.
  8. The standard answer would be: all of Aris vehicle mods, Aris terrain mod and the current HQS sounds. There are some good uniform mods around. And of course dust and HD flames.
  9. Hm, in Huzzar, I lost three of them. But one fought immobilised to the end.
  10. Yes yes, I opened one only a few weeks ago. Small arms fire is not actually knocking out the StuG, but killing the crew. I have seen crews, which were down to two men. But still fighting. THAT's the spirit. ?
  11. Hi guys I just stumbled across that one. A CIA manual dating back to the 50's. Good read, between funny - incredible - unbelievable - crazy. Search for it in Google. I have the feeling, many people around me apply the "work place sabotage tactics". Work slow and pretend to be stupid. ?
  12. Maybe a little off the hype at the moment, but does anybody care to play a CMFI scenario?
  13. Looks interesting, indeed. But let them deliver first. I have seen a couple of interesting projects in the past, which all ended up nowhere close to CM. Think about CM^s development time. I guess it will take 10 years before this AOC really flies, if ever. And that costs a lot of money.
  14. Ah, yes yes. I misunderstood your first post. Actually I have never seen my pixeltruppen to use walls or anything as platform. And I do not think this is modelled into the game. Think of the variety: Trees, branches, logs: What size? What sort of surface? Walls: Stone or brick? How thick? How high? Crumbling or solid? Etcetc.. I guess the "static calculation" for all possibilities goes far beyond any simulation capacity. Nope, I think this is a purely random effect, probably with an edge for "deployed and semi-deployed" firing.
  15. Eh, apply real life logic and hope is has been correctly modelled into the game. Fact is: One can't control automatic weapons for a longer time. That's why they teach you in the forces to fire "three round bursts". First round hits, second is ok, third one is off. The less stable the platform, the worse. MG on a tripod should be ok. Fire undeployed and you lose stability. But then, the guy could rest the gun somewhere. On a wall, on tree, on something. And that's where the "erratic" kicks in. Can't model everything...
  16. Well, back then I liked Osprey books as source for my 54mm-figure paintings, but contentwise, they are poor. Especially the later theme-books about specific battles.
  17. Maybe a little of topic: Why is it cheating, if one knows a map or scenario? I admit, knowing the situation is certainly an advantage and must be clearly announced. But cheating? No.
  18. I have no CMRT ongoing at the moment and would be interested. Did not play Gates of Warsaw yet, so that would fit. Levelwise, I am usually playing on Warrior, but have no problem to try it on Iron. However, I am more of a slow player. Say, three or four turns during the week and rarely on weekends. PM me, if that suits you.
  19. Interesting discussion, by the way. The question, once again, is quite unclear. I was tempted to delve into board games, but then realized the answers at least are about computer games. Then: What means "realistic"? Any game can, at best, be a model. And as such can portray only certain aspects of RL. Finally, the discussion nicely portrays the huge range of games. From micro tactical simulators to grand strategic games. From air to naval to land combat. Or all of that in one. And we did not even cover the huge time range. I could list many " realistic" ancient, medieval, napoleonic, you-name-it games. Not to speak about many "realistic" SiFi- or Fantasy games. Great hobby, isn't it? Keeps me occupied since 40 years now. ?
  20. I'll see if I can find the old files, but do not recall penetration messages. As opposed to Kübelwagen and Jeeps, which get perforated, but the driver stays alife. Otherwise, in my current games I have some StuGs left. I'll see what happens to them and keep the files. Answering Ts4Ever: No, I don't think that's the issue. The losses are pretty random. Driver, Gunner, Loader...
  21. Ah, very good link, indeed. Especially, their mention of flank hits sounds very familiar to me. Unfortunately, their discussion did mit really come to a conclusion. So, I'll treat it as "normal" and will try to stay away from infantry. Hm, kind of difficult in Bocage-country.
  22. Well, that's how I understood his second post. Entrenchment WW1 style, with all the shebang.
