Yep, I played it, too, back then. At first I did not like the card game approach. So, It took me quite a while to give it a try. But then I liked it quite much. Quite deep and immersive, indeed. Since years and even today, there is still talk about a new version. But that willl probably come at the same time as "CM Russia '41". -

Well, Steel Panthers was quite detailed. In it's time. Otherwise: Yes, start with the tutorials, play a few scenarios against the AI and then, move to PBEM playing, when you feel comfortable with the mechanics. From there, it is "Training, training, training". And be prepared to get your bum kicked a few times. -
Very tempting, indeed. But unfortunately Austin, Texas, is not exactly "just down the road". At least not, if you look down the road from the Swiss mountains. Since you planted the idea: Is anybody out there going to the "200-Years Battle of Waterloo" anniversary in Belgium? Needless to say: From 16th to 18th June.

No, just suspense. The famous Tiger has some "magic" appearances and, if I recall right, the starring Russian tanker feels with his tanks and is sort of "re-born", just to kill the White Tiger. Otherwise, just too many pictures of burned tankers, after the battles.

I just recently finished the Cesaro scenario, playing PBEM. Brilliant scenario. The first since a long time, where I constantly bounced between despair and relief. I managed a minor German victory, with more than 100 killed US tanks and vehicles, but was lucky that the game did not last a minute longer. In the end it was almost "Fury like", with my last Tiger being circled by a swarm of Shermans. Any suggestions for equally intense sceanrios?

I have seen The White Tiger completely. Can't revommend it. A crappy story, with some nice tank scenes, though. And far too many, far too explicit pictures of burned tankers.

In some of my CMRT scnearios, the nice, hilly Italian CMFI landscape appears as horizon. I think I remember, that I read something about this issue in an earlier thread, but I can't find it anymore. Can somebody tell me how to get rid of the CMFI horizon?

Hi Kohlenklau, are you sure about the simple Balkenkreuz as aircraft marking? At least in the early days of the war (Poland, France,...) the red and white flag with Swastika was used as aircraft marking. If you want to change it ( would look nicer), better use a political correct Balkenkreuz instead of a Swastika. -
Hi Kohlenklau, still interesred in Hungarian vehicles? I think, I have some old CMBB mods with Hungarian stuff. Used to have it in the mod organizer. If it helps, I can have a look on Monday. I will be away from home for the Easter weekend.

Hi Kohlenklau You are asking difficult questions, indeed. That's "army speak", not German. The best I could find on short notice, is the manual of the NVA Paras (former East German Forces). It is from 1987, but I do not think the commandos are too different from WW2 orders. They had different drills for each plane, but the "most complicated" drill I found was: - Aufzugsleinen einhängen! (=hook up) - Fertigmachen! (=get ready) - Aufstehen! (= stand up) - Sprung! (=Go!) And: Yes, apparently a lot of signals, like colored flash lights or hand signals, etc, were used instead. Sounds strange, but it looks like they moved to the door "automatically". If you care, I can PM you the manual. It's only 50 or so type writer written pages... Would be a chance to polish your 1840's German. -

Hi Kohlenklau, two tips: - change "Fall-Zone" to "Sprungzone". In German we call it "jump zone", not "drop zone". - change "Geheime" to "Geheim", or better "Streng Geheim". That means top secret and sounds more conspiring. -

Hi John Since we are nit picking: "Balken" means "bar". Obviously, a bar can be from timber, but not necessarily. The name just differentiates the shape from the curved German Cross, which was used by the Teutonic Knight Order (in German: Deutschritterorden) in the Middle Ages already. Later the Prussians used the German Cross as their symbol, from which times the well known "Iron Cross" derived. -

Could be a version issue. The campaign will be V3.0. If you are still playing V2.12, the campaign won't show in the list. And is not playable, if course.

Whoa, that looks perfect! And like a lot of work. One question: do I need to copy the whole 500 MB into each games Z-folder separately?

An additional "if it helps": Unless you want to play real time, you do not need the hot-keys. In play practically only PBEM and use only the number keys to pan and the shift key to fix the view to a unit.
