Devils' Descent is a quite small paratrooper based campaign for the base game. I think that should fit the bill.

I had read someplace that they did that with Marine Raiders. I think it was in a reference to Elenor Roosevelt, who's son was a Marine, but it was so long ago that I really don't remember the specifics. The Marine Reserve Unit that I served in, when I worked for Boeing in Wichita, shared a building with an Army Reserve unit. I was friends with the Command Sgt. Major. He wore a patch on his seat shoulder that said "Merrill's Marauders." At that time he was one of eight still living. I am honored to have known him and that he considered me a friend. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met.

But but but .... You mean there's a difference?
ok, I'll try. My squadron went on depolyment to Naha Navy/Airforce base in Naha Okinawa for live missile shoot. It just so happen Ed that we were there over November 10, the Marine Corps Birthday. We'll, we had one heck of a party. It was such a good party, that the girls who were brought in from town to be our dance partners, were hastily withdrawn, ostensibly for their safety. After the party, we had to walk across the golf course. The next morning, as I sort of oozed out of my rack and stepped outside, the Marine insatiable urge to scrounge became evident. Outside, next to the door, were about a dozen tee markers and a sign that read "After Play, Please Rake Sand." Standing next to the sign was the rake.
On that same deployment, we flew gun training. The F-4J didn't have internal guns, so they mounted a twin-20mm belly pod. Well, the C.O. was pulling the the target banner, attached by a really long rope, to the drag chute hook in the very tail of his F-4. Now most of our pilots weren't very good at using guns, cause after all, McNamara's Wiz kids decided that dogfighting with guns was a thing of the past. Anyway, one of our pilots was a real eagle eye, firing 80 rounds. Seventy-eight through the bulls eye on the banner, and two through the Skipper's Stabilator! Boy, did he get yelled at.

In all honesty, I have played all the CMX2 titles except CM Afganistan, and I have not encountered anything that I would consider "game-breaking" or "immersion destroying." Maybe they have occurred and I just never saw them because I'm not a "nit-picker," and I was just enjoying playing the games. If it were me, I'd buy it, but if you want to believe comments of "game-breaking" bugs by a small group of commenters who tend to pick apart every release, then that's your choice.

Vet 0369 got a reaction from SlowMotion in is it planned to let infantry ride tanks?
We have enough AFV's  so we don't have to ride on tanks. Even the Marine AAVs, as thin skinned as they are, in enough supply that infantry doesn't need to ride on a tank. Back in the day, my M2 60mm mortars would have been dropping rounds on and around the tanks. Not to hurt the tanks, but to take out the infantry. I wouldn't want to be anywhere a tank. It's just too dangerous.

I suspect that it really doesn't have that much to do with "Judeo-Christian" ethics. In Exodus, after Joshua took Jerico, he ordered any soldier who had blood on his clothing, his body, or weapons to spend something like seven days away from the general population for "cleansing." If I'm not mistaken, the Commandment is not "Thou shalt not kill," but "Thou shalt not do murder." The 11th century Crusade was invented by the Pope to get the Warring Nobles of Europe out of Europe . The Crusaders killed whoever got in their way regardless of whether they were Islamic, Jewish, or Christian! I believe that our modern transportation systems increase the probability of PTSD because there is no "wind down" period. Up until the Vietnam conflict, Military personnel returned by way of sea. They had weeks to readjust to "normal" society, and were given a hero's welcome. When I returned from Fleet Marine Force Pacific (FMFPAC) in 1971, I boarded a Pan Am flight in Okinawa, and was in San Francisco 13 hours later. It was unbelievable how disorientated I was when I landed after a year in Asia, and that was without being in Vietnam, where you left your combat unit and boarded a plane right after you left combat. During and after Operation Iraqi Freedom, society welcomed them back, and continues to do so. The problem is that they still, for the most part, step out of combat, onto an airplane, and are redeposited into "polite society" less than 24 hours later with no time to "unlearn" the bad habits learned in war, which sets up a mental and moral conflict that's very difficult to deal with
Bottom line is that I don't believe your belief system has very much to do with it except for a very small segment of the Warriors. Jane Goodall found that Chimpanzee tribes war as much with other Chimpanzee tribes as Homo Sapiens do with each other. So it's not really "unnatural" for us to war with each other. We are after all wild beasts that are covered by thin veneer of "reason" that we have invented to order our societies.

I think it is absolutely normal to question relative importance of stuff and be conscious about (not) getting worked up about trivial things. Not only when one has managed to reach your respectable age 😀

BTW: 'Tempest in a Teapot' sounds like a great name for a fictional CMSF2 scenario! 'A British convoy supplying tea and new pots for the BN CO and HQ company has been ambushed by irregular forces. Lance Corporal Brian is ordered to lead a QRF to recapture these vital supplies and bring them to BN HQ before noon. The success of the ongoing operation is in your hands.' 😜

IIRC, the previous web site had a tab that was simply labeled "Patches." When you accessed if, you saw the base game, followed by the subsequent patches by version number. You clicked on the patch you wanted. In this case, you saw CMSF2 V 2.00. If you clicked on that version, you saw "CMSF2 V 2.0.1 and the updated campaign. Personally, I don't really see how the two numbering systems are so different or difficult to understand without hand holding. Talk about "A Tempest in a Teapot!"

Vet 0369 got a reaction from A Canadian Cat in What are these 88 rounds of 40x46mm ammo?
Aw, come on, the Army has always shared their equipment with the Marines. On Guadalcanal, the Marines landed with M1903 bolt action rifles. Shortly after the Army landed with the M1 semiautomatic rifles, most of the Marines had M1 semiautomic rifles. When the Marines withdrew from the Chosin Reservoir, they had Army vehicles and Artillery. Now granted, for the most part, the Army didn't know they had shared their weapons and vehicles with the Marines, but we found them to be very generous.🙂

When folks say things that are off topic and one responds maybe you should address your concerns to the first poster:  "In a fire-fight, atheist's and rivalries in foxholes, don't exist."
If you want to be a good and respected hall monitor maybe address the hundreds of posts that seem to be off-topic made all over these forums.

"Immobilized" can be a number of things, not just "stuck." Any component on a vehicle can fail. A tracked vehicle can throw a track, especially if muddy and not cleaned or properly maintained. An axel can break if it has high time on it. An engine can be over-revved, or over-heated and throw a piston. A transmission can fail. Most of those things can take hours to fix, which is beyond the time allotted to the mission.

Yeah, too bad the Naval guns aren't in. The 5-inch Destroyer guns are equivalent to 127mm vs the 155 mm, but the 5-inch guns don't use Excalibur rounds in this time frame, and have a "boat-load" more rounds (pun intended).

Many people have a very inaccurate idea about who the "insurgents" were. Most were NOT poorly trained "citizen fighters." Most were highly-experienced Warriors from the surrounding Arab countries (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and such), and Hezbolla, Chechnia, and Afganistan. They were there strictly to kill Americans, and to die as martyrs. In fact most were former well-trained Iraqis soldiers from the Army and the Republican Guard. One of the biggest reasons for the high U.S. casualty rate, was because of the U.S. "Rules of Engagement (ROE)" such as avoiding collateral damage to the non-combatant populations, and unnecessary destruction of property. The U.S. Soldiers and Marines actually value human life. The "Insurgents" did not. The "Insurgents" didn't care who they killed or what they destroyed to get at the U.S. Soldiers and Marines. If the U.S. Lost 700, how many did the "Insurgents" lose, and did it change the outcome of that operation? Look at it as exactly the same situation as fighting the Japanese during WWII; no regard for human life, and willing to die to for their cause.
