  1. The Hetzer flame conversions were first used in January 1945 during Operation Nordwind.
  2. You also forgot the MP44 in the German weapon section.
  3. That could have been the case. Do you have a link to these TOEs or some other kind of reference? Just asking out of curiosity.
  4. I found the amount of SVT40s a bit surprising. Were they really that common in 1944?
  5. This is actually a mistake. It is true that the Germans introduced "MP-Züge" or smg-platoons, but these were supposed to be equipped with the MP44, not the MP40. They were later renamed to "Sturmzüge", possibly because the Germans themselves got confused.
  6. Another thing: I think the Russians should also get the option to use Panzerfausts, especially in the later months. They captured so many of them that they actually printed a manual. They called them "Faustnikami"
  7. I'm a bit confused by the scenario. Shouldnt the tigers be Tiger IIs, according to the briefing?
  8. Note that the "rifle" the squad leaders were carrying in 1941 was supposed to be an automatic rifle (SVT or AVS), not the Mosin Nagant.
  9. That being said, I think it would be cool and realistic to have PPsh41s in veteran german formations, or maybe the straggler company.
  10. The graphics of Combat mission are outdated, which in itself isn't much of a problem. If you look at games like minecraft, they might be outdated, but have a unique artistic style that makes it work for their purposes. This is not always the case with Combat Mission. Now for the record, I think Combat Mission 3d models are very good. Tanks, infantry, guns etc. are very detailed for a strategy game and well done. But there are some other aspects that clash with them and impair graphical quality: - Animations: This is a big problem and sadly not one easily fixed, since I doubt battlefront has the resources for motion capture or generally the time to spend on this. Animations of infantry are atrocious right now. They are repetetive, often look awkward and do not do the 3d models justice. - Terrain textures: While war movie mode somewhat fixes this, they still look quite bad and I think here improvement could be possible without too much effort. It doesn't even necessarily have to be a higher resolution, just better looking colours for grass etc as well as better low detail textures for when you are zoomed out. I mapped for Battlefield 2 quite a bit (in itself outdated by now since it came out in 2005) and there you had a detail texture and a low detail texture, which was automatically generated and was shown over long ranges. That way the colour texture didn't look like painted on or just a plane of colour. - Effects: These too clash with the model quality. I'm sorry, but explosions do not look good right now. I don't even expect Michael Bay type fiery explosions, which would be stupid, but I can't believe that something better isn't possible on CMx3. Even with very simple 2d sprites you can make better looking dirt fountains etc. As an example, look at this clip of Age of Mythology: http://youtu.be/q2MxK5co2X4?t=37s In my opinion these explosions (fantasy as they may be) look better than what you have in Combat Mission right now, and they just use 2d sprites (I don't even think they use any particles in these). I think these are the three main "construction sites" in terms of graphical improvement.
  11. Is there any performance difference between the PPsh41s with 71 and 35 round mag?
  12. German guy here: The plural of "Hetzer" is just "Hetzer". Also, your sentence would have to be "Ken und meine Forum-Brüder"
  13. They also liked to use the SVT40. Then again, by 1944 the SVT40 production was scaled down in favor of the Mosin Nagant / PPsH41 combo.
  14. The German converted the PPsh41 to 9mm and called it the MP41®, but I don't know how common that was. It took MP40 magazines.
  15. The best smg of ww2 was arguably the Finnish Suomi though.
  16. The problem was big enough for the Germans to take note and fix it.
  17. Note that the Sten MK5 carried by the paratroopers has a stock and grip though. This should make for better handling I guess. Also the wood increases weight, which in turn decreases recoil a bit.
  18. Yep. As I said, these weren't exactly rare. In fact, I know more pictures of Berettas in Normandy than of StG44s
  19. The Italian smg ingame is a different type, the Beretta MAB 38 (as opposed to the MAB 38/42). It was also used by the Germans, although I don't think they produced it. Fallschirmjäger in Normandy with the older Beretta model: Infantryman in Normandy:
  20. Actually, no. (Or well, maybe, but not necessarily) The Italian weapons industry was concentrated in the north around Milan and was taken over by the Germans. The Germans kept producing the Beretta MAB38/42 as the MP378(i) and issued them to their troops in big numbers. In 1945 the industrial outpit of Berettas was higher than MP40s! Two years ago I visited the Ardennes and Hurtgen Forest areas. Both the Vossenack and Malmedy museums have Beretta smgs on display, including a mud find from the Hurtgen forest. In my opinion Battlefront could well include this weapon in future modules, to mix up German infantry options a bit.
  21. Note the Mosin Nagant and Beretta MAB 38/42 smg.
  22. I was always under the impression that the G43 ZF was increasingly common as the war drew to a close, since it was already manufactured with the scope rails.
  23. Wasn't that the battle where they used flame throwing Char 1 Bs?
  24. I'm German, so I can read the sources posted. While they paint a picture of conflict between the different organs of the Nazi apparatus, I fail to see how this is indicative of any kind of "conspiracy". In fact, it is perfectly in line with what we know about the well documented organisational flaws in the German command structure of WW2. Also, let's say for the sake of argument that Hitler's approach in this case was the more tactically sound one. I fail to see how you can extrapolate from this that the war could have been one if only Hitler's plans had been followed. This seems like a huge amount of speculation to me.
  25. If you mean infantry armed with StG44 I owuld looker under the Panzer Brigade formations.
