  1. Weird "crossover" happens when your CMBS patch is in the same folder as CMBN patch and you patch the game - it mistakenly uses files from CMBN
  2. yes, now also includes zveroboy's barns and fences
  3. Here are single BRZ packs that I had on my google drive for personal use Kieme's faction re-textures (except for ukr/rus infantry*) Kieme's world re-textures Download and drop them into your Black Sea install dir\Data *I feel like Vein's rus/ukr mod offers a lot more variety and looks more authentic, esp. ukrainian digital camo
  4. russian sources deny the fact of russian troops occupying ukrainian soil so of course - if you for some funny reason believe them
  5. I'm now playing german campaign in CMSF and, boy, do I miss lengthy branching campaign in Black Sea. 5 missions per side (had only 4 as ukrainians due to minor victory in mis 3) felt more like each side's showcase instead of true campaigns. Single skirmishes are great, but I find myself running out of them soon... And QB are, ugh, not on par
  6. just Reshade with curves, lens dirt and dpx on and slightly tweaked
  7. Very fun scenario. My favorite part was when I had the fierce urban battle in the village surrounding the bridge as I've raced against the clock.
  8. Ugh no. Triggers and timed events give AI only a very general order, it being able to make use of some dynamic behavior on the way to its goal won't break anything. After all that's exactly what tactical-level AI does in the game I mean a strategic layer where you are able to pick which mission to go after next / capture which territory. Other wargames either do it turn-based way where you strike, then enemy and so on or in real time where while you do 1 mission something else is happening in other places - and so on so forth. Imagination is the limit. The key point here is that it ultimately makes base campaign content replayable. Thus far all CM campaigns are "completed once, forgot forever". random generator when made correctly can produce pretty tactically interesting maps. Prepared map selection runs out very soon and you have to play same scenario basically over and over again - there can be 80 QB maps but only 5 will fit "medium battle" criteria f.e. Nobody says random gen should be CM1x level
  9. Wiggum has a point. From game to game Battlefront's improvements are very conservative. The game does indeed need better UI and strategic AI with at least some basic reaction patterns, not just pre-set triggers. Doing that shouldn't break BF's bank, especially now that they've polished gameplay mechanics to a nearly perfect condition (as gameplay mechanics is what I see changed the most since CMSF and through all those.. ugh... 'standalone' WW2 titles - while the rest of the game barely got touched). Making strategic AI reactive at least in some primitive ways (like trying to retake back lost victory locations... perhaps based on % of forces available) would go a long way towards improving otherwise dull QB. Also while mechanically it's the deepest wargame it sorely misses the part that makes less complex wargames stand out and would make CM series even greater - strategic layer instead - or better - in addition to seldom-branching campaigns we have now. Randomly generated maps are also a big thing, no? Considering iirc CM1x games had those
  10. I think supports would look better without those clouds, no?
  11. A 3d-style vehicle silhouettes look cool, go with it Not sure aboute colored weapon icons though. Wouldn't the interface get too colour-overloaded and hard on the eyes?
  12. Making a proper modding SDK isn't the same as selling out an engine to some devs. I fail to see how modders adding some features BF hasn't thought of yet or adding more turrets to BTR-4E will turn Black Sea into Men of War (arcade Combat Mission in essence with all the ballistics and penetration stuff). Calling ArmA not unique is quite a bit of a stretch too.
  13. Modding capabilities past scenario creation can turn a game from obscure into a hit. If anything BF should support the project. Just look at ArmA and Elder Scrolls series. Of course I get the need to release those questionably "standalone" projects like Fortress Italy but as history shows a game with a strong modding SDK sells well for years to come (if we are to talk serious gaming - just look at Falcon 4.0 and FSX, especially FSX vs. MS Flight)
  14. I remember how Hitler pretended pollacks attacked Germany back in '39. Clearly Germany are all lying bastards too
  15. Oh that Evil US putting its puppets everywhere. Through open elections no less. Those imaginary US puppets are so Evil, goddamn, they just sit in there being Evil. Let's just invade their lands and murder everyone, that sure gonna show them how Evil those US puppets are
  16. Kyiv govt "warmongering"? They didn't invade another country using its crisis because of some stupid imperialistic agenda causing suffering of common folk and occupy whole regions of that other's country's territory. So "warmongering" they didn't even stop russian specops taking over towns in Donbass Crimea-style for nearly a month. Yes Kyiv govt is so "corrupt" they can't even do jack to anti-ukrainian forces of Yanukovich that are still in power in many places. Yanuk's forces WIN cases in "junta" courts. If anything our govt is toothless when it comes to at least cleaning the complete trash out of power (and I mean "opposition" of course). I haven't voted for Poroshenko because I'm perfectly aware of all his bad sides however he's eons better than that piece of **** we had who flooded the center of a capital with blood and ran away guess where when retribution came knocking.
  17. Using this for menu music And this for loading screen
  18. That wouldn't be a solution if you want to put those tanks to ambush an attacker. Plus if they will keep moving it's a straight giveaway vs. stationary. *SPOILER!* like in the last mission of US campaign where I found 4 enemy tanks in the ambush position in the forest. So I just took my time blasting them off with precision strikes one by one. And as they exploded their buddies didn't even blink. It's a thing that only Battlefront can fix. If AI vehicle detects incoming arty fire hitting it - it should retreat.
  19. AI is acceptable. Triggers are a game changer, especially compared to CMSF. Before I knew they were in it looked like AI finally got that reactivity it always needed instead of timed events. However my main gripe with AI is how it lacks reactions programmed vs. precision strikes. If I spot a tank somewhere and launch a precision strike and it doesn't penetrate the tank - I'm free to launch as many of them as I want until they do their job - AI tank will never move. This is especially glaring vs. AI actually reacting to incoming fire and threats by hiding behind something. And ofc when arty starts pounding me I insta get out.
  20. One of the best scenarios in CM games definitely. Because it's so different from your usual "taking objectives" stuff. It's managable as long as you keep killing what you find with recon and drones on the other side of the valley using precision strikes and ATGMs, while smartly choosing ambush positions to cover your scouts from the incoming counter-attack (which you are warned of in the briefing). It's tough, sure. But it's the right kind of tough as long as you think and proceed with care. If anything another good thing about the scenario is that it teaches you to truly keep your troops safe. Which comes very handy in the next scenario which is even more anti-US-steamrolls-everything (and which I enjoyed a lot as well)
  21. 1920x1200 will offer you smaller FOV than 1920x1080 in 3D games. For some reason devs tend to treat 16:9 resolutions as horizontally extended compared to 16:10. Like f.e. 1920x1080 is treated as 240 pixels wider vs. 1680x1050. Thus the next common resolution for 16:9 2560x1440 is basically an "extension" from 1920x1200 16:10 Note that ironically while technically 16:9 seem smaller pixel wise than what 'seems' like their 16:10 counterparts with the higher vertical pixel count - 16:9 resolutions cause higher performance hit due to that increased FOV. So yeah it's a bit untechnical explanation for how things are but the bottomline is - for 3D games 1080p monitors are a lot better.
  22. Whatever the next expansion will be I really hope it introduces a new season (like autumn). So you could autoswap summer/autumn/winter textures when you pick an appropriate month (instead of permaswap with a mod like it is now) and thus affecting all the maps that are already in the base game
  23. The best part here is that eventually many community-made scenarios will appear providing any battle size you want (I've played lots of those for CM Shock Force that were far better than the official ones). And when I started with CM I also didn't like large scale battles at first but when I got a hang of the game I began to truly appreciate the scale and detail of what's going on on the screen. Plus Combat Mission: Black Sea is the most detailed modern war strategy game available thus far, especially if you are into realistic combined arms warfare.
  24. Did you also update the main installer for CMBS and is it at the same link (where CMBS 1.0 was downloaded after purchase)? Just want to DL the latest installer (since CMBS won't be updated for a while) and it's hard to access battlefront.com due to all the ipbanlists for my country to get the most recent link
