  1. I think it's very early days, and by no means guaranteed, but Chris responded to a question re sounds, saying that he thought sounds were worth a look, he has some ideas but would need to get approved for him to work on it.
  2. Interesting comments on Chris's YouTube (Sacrifice for New Religion - doing better than I did....) Cmbn 3 now with Beta testers, possibility of refreshing sounds. Was kind of hoping a CMFI pack was on the way, but doesn't sound like it is happening yet. Shame CMBN scenarios won't be re-done with triggers, but understandable.
  3. Yes, tried that - but between Paper Tiger saying he may revisit Montebourg, and a week at home while it is raining outside, I've been broken....
  4. Not working this week - CMBN v3 would be great!
  5. Interesting angle - not sure that gets us closer to the answer to the question in hand, but may open up some new areas to consider.
  6. If we're talking Chiff Chaffs, then they would have to be African, wouldn't they? Having said that, I think there are more overwintering in Europe now - I wonder if you can tell the difference by the song? Hopefully someone can answer...
  7. Piping in Normandy just after the D-Day commemorations, and took the time to visit some of the cemeteries/memorials. Here are a few photos (hope the links work): https://www.dropbox.com/s/fcauys1ek0biw9g/American%20War%20Cemetery.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/ubgyer5k2n02oxj/British%20Cemetery%20two.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/w3ye3vtqfa17nv9/British%20War%20Cemetery.jpg Pointe Du Hoc https://www.dropbox.com/s/4pbiagec9m0ok3c/Pointe%20du%20Hoc%20craters.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/gvy15g1xor4gnrr/The%20cliffs%20at%20Pointe%20du%20Hoc.jpg Also went to Omaha beach - terrible terrible beach to attack - I suppose it had to be attempted to link up the front but the heights completely dominate the beach. Omaha beach I also recorded some bird song - I have to admit to bing a fan, and the current birdsong doesn't fit with the Normandy soundscape. If anyone out there fancies modding the background birdsong, the birds on the recording - 14 June 11am - are (I think): Chiff Chaff Black Cap Robin Chaffinch Wren https://www.dropbox.com/s/p537j1mp20zff8k/My%20recording%20%2318.wav
  8. Great to see a post from you Paper Tiger - anything that you would be able to produce would be very great fully received!
  9. Well this all sounds very promising for someone who would very much like to see some more scenarios set in this theatre
  10. Interesting comment by Chris on his YouTube site - work is ongoing on a Cassino map, with an implication that it may be released by Battlefront - perhaps a module/pack for CMFI? I hope so...
  11. Sounds promising then - it's definitely the automatic fire weapons that result in a problem (and echoes happening way after the gun has finished firing) so fingers crossed!
  12. Looking forward to it too - still having trouble finding small arms sounds that my computer can handle, so fingers crossed this one might work. Your videos are a great idea too - thanks a lot for all your hard work.
  13. Looking forward to reading more of your AAR when you both have time Ian.
  14. Sound mods can definitely have an impact on performance, I guess because the size of the sound samples are larger than the originals in many cases (some moderns have helpfully created smaller size sound mods to help us out)
  15. I would definitely put a vote in for CMFI + GL - one I keep coming back to. Lots of distinct nationalities and really enjoy the earlier time period which seems to result in more evenly matched sides (apart from the Italians that is - but they are fun in themselves). Really enjoy the challenge of open, hilly terrain. Some tricky scenarios too.
  16. What an incredible contribution you make to this game Aris. I am still dreaming of a day when I can get a computer that can run all these mods! In the meantime I marvel at the screen shots. Hope you come back soon.
  17. Yup, almost certain this is the case (in fact so close to certain as to say definitely) - that is why one of the other poster's suggestions is so effective - assault from a different angle so as not to get suppressed by your own fire - made that mistake too many times.... However, if you approach from a different angle you then run the risk of moving into field of fire of unsuppressed enemy units - made that mistake too.....
  18. $15 donated - thanks for all the hard work GaJ - any chance of another AAR?
  19. Thanks for thinking of the little guy. Just puts the mods on CMBN and enjoying another trip down Hells Highway in the Road to Nijmegen. Sigh, who needs reality?
  20. OK, tried both, and both are very good. Waclaw has a wider range of sounds in the smaller size files? I just had a go at my saved game part way through Angriff - it sounded like World War 3 had gone off!! Now I'm scared to send anyone over the top - a major change in the atmosphere. Makes me sick for my men when I hear an AT gun fire in the distance and then the inevitable happens. Well done to the modders!!
  21. I did eventually succeed on this one, after several goes. Use of the carriers was key - very good protection vs infantry and great for suppression, just don't get too close. That minefield completely got me too - very sneaky!
  22. I must have missed that Oddball, sorry - is there a mac version?
  23. Wow, I wasn't expecting this, fantastic, thanks a lot, I will try tonight
