  1. Hi waclaw Thank you very much for the mac version - much appreciated. However... I think because I have a relatively old machine, the sounds don't come out right for me - sometimes significant delay between shot and sound, some sounds missing, significant echoes. A real shame as I really like the sounds. The default sounds are fine - perhaps they are smaller file sizes? Thanks again for the time you put in. I'll go back to watching Oddballs comparison videos and dream of a better machine.
  2. Yes, very nice - are they QB maps or have you made them yourself?
  3. Dawn Patrol Finally got there after much pain. I found this very difficult - I'd be amazed if anyone completed this first go. I swing between being seriously grumpy that the AI can hammer me so badly, to thanking the game that scenarios are not walk overs. Looking back, I think this taught me a few good lessons about attacking over open ground. Hopefully I won't forget them before the next game I have learned to respect German MGs.......... ...... ...........
  4. I had always assumed that you got some additional (small) bonus if you preserved squad - platoon - company (I.e. If the company hq dies/ out of contact you lose a bonus) looks like I was wrong.
  5. I often use it when providing close in suppressive fire (e.g. just before assaulting a building) as then the squads don't throw grenades/use rifle grenades (which can hurt your own troops). It is also a way to stop squads firing bazooka rounds when you don't want them to.
  6. I have ordered an AT rifle to shoot at a Tiger and he seemed to be getting a lot of hits on the tracks - I wondered at the time if this May have been intentional as there was a possibility of immobilisation?
  7. Would love to see some Commandos in CMFI, and some more smaller scenarios would be great
  8. Aris - great to hear you'll be adding your personal style to RT - looking forward to trying them out already.
  9. That's a very interesting image - do you think it's just chance that there is a cluster around the MG or was this targeted specifically (weak point/ puts Mg out of action?) i think I'm right in saying that tankers did try and aim for known weak points.
  10. This has my vote! I would also like a similar form of boundary to appear when clicking on a TRP - currently it is quite a pan to plan artillery strikes.
  11. Good to hear that you are making progress Oddball - I think that the sound effects in CM are absolutely vital to the experience, and the modders have done a fantastic job. Any chance of a Mac version?
  12. Watching your second video Peter and cracking up!! I have just completed that mission on the sixth attempt. Spoliers!! I was just waiting for the AA quad to appear and see your reaction - classic! Then I wanted to see how the farm assault went - it all seemed to be going so well and then when you moved up there was a massacre. Hearing your reaction is just like I was thinking at the same stages (shoot at it, quick, quick, before the guns turn on us, NOOOOO!!!), then on the farm assault (OK, I think I've dealt with them, let's move in - NOOOOOO!!!). Thanks for the great AAR
  13. Having recently had the pleasure of visiting the States for the first time, I have to agree - how can the greatest of countries have got it so wrong?? By the way, not wanting to enter the fray on the Scottish/Canadian question, I have to say that, much as I like my Canadian cousins, Bonnie Scotland wipes the floor with them. And on the subject of haggis, I believe someone once said: Is there that owre his French ragout, Or olio that wad staw a sow, Or fricassee wad mak her spew Wi perfect scunner, Looks down wi sneering, scornfu view On sic a dinner? Poor devil! see him owre his trash, As feckless as a wither'd rash, His spindle shank a guid whip-lash, His nieve a nit; Thro bloody flood or field to dash, O how unfit! But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed, The trembling earth resounds his tread, Clap in his walie nieve a blade, He'll make it whissle; An legs an arms, an heads will sned, Like taps o thrissle. Ye Pow'rs, wha mak mankind your care, And dish them out their bill o fare, Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware That jaups in luggies: But, if ye wish her gratefu prayer, Gie her a Haggis. I couldn't put it better myself!
  14. Count me in too - I know there has been a lot of discussion about this - it would be great that some of the community scenario and campaign makers got some recompense for their work too. I don't want to single anyone out in particular, but.... Paper Tiger has to get a very special mention - I think I've played through Road to Montebourg at least three times, got through quite a lot of the Scottish Corridor and gradually grew to love the British forces, and I am now restarting road to Nijmegen - days and days of pleasure (and a sprinkling of gnashing of teeth).
  15. May be spoiler-ish As the terrain is hilly, I looked for avenues where you could approach out of sight. Spotters could then be brought forward to hit enemy strongpoints with mortars, while assault teams went in.
  16. As I said, there was much despair before ultimate success...
  17. Thanks for the AAR - it would be interested to get your thoughts on the two scenarios now that it is over - I loved your screenshots - very envious
  18. Friday 28th at 23.00 GMT - gotta be, I have nothing planned for the weekend!
  19. Well I really enjoyed your AAR Elvis - thanks for putting all that effort in (obviously the same goes to Bil) I only hope we can see another AAR from you.
  20. Could photos work? Example: Nearby soldier (head and shoulders) Far soldier - silhouette on a hill Radio - solider using handset Voice - soldier shouting
  21. Ouch! That was brutal - the ecstasy and the agony... there must have been some harsh language?
  22. The damage inflicted by the flamethrower team was frightening - this got me thinking - is the damage a kind of area effect issue, and if so is there a kind of circular damage area? Also can this damage area cross an Action Spot? I was thinking of urban warfare and the current difficulty with targeting buildings - could you target the flamethrower at the action spot outside of the front of the building and inflict damage on troops inside, for example?
  23. I'm following the Polish side - really enjoying it - saving the German side till the end.
