  1. At the risk of stating the obvious, have you tried refreshing the page in the browser. It may have the old pages cached.
  2. The "get a new password" is only for when the NEW website goes on line. There are instruction right on the main page of it that will walk you through getting a new password. Pretty sure changing your password on the old store site isn't going to do anything for you.
  3. Teleporting vehicle reported as a bug. Getting some opinions first on the spotting.
  4. I don't know. I ran a few seconds at a time, and checked to see who had info on those German troops. The only way the recce unit could was because right at the end of the turn the BN HQ had the info. But it didn't pass from the MG section through the MG PLT LDR. He has no info. As for the second one, the magical transporting vehicle, I've never seen that before, but there's definitely something wrong there. I'll take these the the FI beta forum to have a look and submit a bug report - definitely for the magic levitating vehicle. Not sure about the first - while I agree it's almost telepathy, I think you could find many similar instances.
  5. Also, many of the scenarios have been reworked with new AI plans, adjustments in forces, better (and yes, much more visually appealing) maps. They don't even feel like the same scenarios from SF1 in some cases. The Quick Battle system will work like all the other titles. And if you have all the modules of SF1/SF2, the QB possibilities become almost endless.
  6. SF2 installer should be the same no matter whether you own all or part of the complete SF1 and it's packages. SF2 is a WHOLE NEW installation, and not an incremental upgrade/patch kind of thing. It's just the cost to you that will vary depending on what you already own.
  7. That's unfortunate. If Steve couldn't fix anything I doubt any of us will do better GSClean usually will do the trick. I've had to go that route a couple of times with Phil helping me (with what, I can't remember but it wasn't SF1, I don't believe). Well, with a little patience there will be a bright shiny SF2. If you like SF1 you'll want it anyway Just for reference I have a 2015 MacBook Pro, running OS High Sierra, 10.13.5. Haven't had any issues during any testing with Mac OS updates breaking anything. Hopefully with new installers that will be a problem of the past.
  8. I have a MacBook Pro and am a beta tester. I didn't have any licensing issue with CMSF1. Is there a forum link I could look at that describes this? Perhaps I can duplicate it with my CMSF1 installation. Possibly good news though - with the CMSF2 alpha and beta, I was able to just enter the license key and have been good to go the whole time. I think we had to relicense once but that was a 'feature' not a bug. (meaning it was done purposely). These aren't done with installers though, so it may work differently
  9. You are right about aerospace being the exception. When I was teaching nuclear engineering at NC State, our research reactor, besides doing lots of esoteric research, also did a side business in NDT by "x-raying" (Not really x-rays but close enough for the layman's purpose) EVERY turbine blade that was eventually going into GE jet engines. EVERY SINGLE ONE. As we've so recently seen, the effects of a mechanical failure inside a jet engine can be deadly to catastrophic. And a sheared off, high velocity turbine blade getting loose from the confines of the engine cowling is about as bad as it gets. One of the few cases where statistics to determine a representative sample are not used. The risks of even one faulty blade are much too high. I"m sure Rolls-Royce does something similar. When I was working in England, we had to make occasional trips for meetings at Rolls-Royce in Derby. We were there for reactor design, but right next door in the same factory complex was jet engine manufacture and testing. They do a destructive test on the occasional engine where they explosively sheer off 3 turbine blades simultaneously on an engine in a test stand that's running at full throttle. It's absolutely amazing to watch. The goal is that no part of that engine can escape from the engine cowling when that happens. I have to say, seeing that test, and knowing the work our reactor group did at NCSU gave me a feeling of confidence that everything possible is being done to ensure the quality and integrity of jet engines. And yes, that drives up the cost tremendously. Worth every penny, in my opinion. [edit] Cool, found one. Here's the destruction test of an A380 engine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j973645y5AA Apologies for straying a mite off topic
  10. I was playing the as delivered SF1 campaign missions using the SF2 executables.
  11. Ah, I see. All I can answer to that right now is that I've played through two battles each of the US and German campaigns and they play just fine. Nothing is broken that I could see. Nothing specific to the campaign. Can't say any more than that.
  12. I think it's ok to say that the individual scenarios have been given a good working over, but that the work on the campaigns is not complete. But that would only be the campaigns provided originally with SF1 and the modules, not any user developed ones from the repository. Those would need a scrub by whoever created them once SF2 comes out.
  13. Us Mac users may end up running CM in Parallels or Bootcamp in the future (I have a Mac for other reasons than CM)
  14. No problems at all with my 2015 MacBook Pro. Been running it for a while, including as a beta tester.
  15. Late seeing this but CM runs just fine on High Sierra, on my MacBook Pro. That includes changing resolutions for various reasons (my laptop is used for scientific computing research also). And mine gets stressed pretty well with Beta testing. Good luck. It would be fun on a big screen like that.
  16. I had only C rations in my time in the Army. I was in the 82d Abn too, so it was a lucky, lucky day when we got a hot meal out in the field.
  17. We extensively tested it in beta. But they just couldn't get it to work reliably. Chris (I think) posted a good explanation somewhere that in summary said they decided not to include it since it wasn't reliable and therefore would probably generate lots of complaints. We tried to like it :-)
  18. Yup. I'm going to have to run some more. But the title of this is about making the campaigns unplayable. So far I'm not seeing that. One discussion we've had though is that when artillery zeroes in on entrenchments in CM, the entrenchments here are kind of hasty positions. There isn't overhead cover. Foxholes are scrapes in the ground with sandbags. If the artillery has you dialed in, it's time to move, entrenchment or not. What I want to check is the behavior described where some will run the wrong way - right toward the enemy, or out into a street covered by enemy fire, that sort of thing. The issues that I've seen with entrenched positions so far to me seem more realistic than they used to be actually, but I'm going to keep looking.
  19. I don't know about Battlefront but a few of us Beta testers have been running some scenarios and watching behaviors. I had a QB that I played PBEM where my US guys were constantly breaking and running, but after in retrospect was probably ok. My German opponent had more than his fair share of mortars :-) and it was a fairly open map, so he was able to drop mortar rounds right on top of every position my guys took up. The proper reaction there is to get out of the kill zone. I'm currently running Courage Conquers campaign in FB and so far, things look ok, although I haven't gotten very far. I've had a couple of US halftracks that panicked quickly, however, they were surprised in the woods by MG42 fire from two directions. Also a caveat that I've not played this one before so it's hard to compare. I did run the first scenario of Road to Nijmegan and my US paratroopers behaved just as they the first time I played it. Subjectively they might have gone to ground more quickly this time, however, again, I think that's realistic. That's a wide open map and the defenders can sweep the fields with MG fire. Also running Conrath's Counterattack in FI and so far in that one everything looks normal, and I've played that one before so I can compare. I'm only in the second scenario of that one. More to come. I set up two QB where I was defending a densely packed town as the US, with German attackers. Mortars and MG42 did not dislodge the defenders in buildings. I still plan to look more as time permits. The things that I've seen have probably been more on the side of things being more realistic, where troops under heavy accurate fire fall back. I haven't seen troops exit buildings into a kill zone yet, but since it's been reported by at least a few people I'm going to keep looking. [edit] Not using any Beta version to do these checks. This is all just with the newly issued update, because I'm curious :-)
  20. I love how you put this: "closely supervised by the platoon sergeant." This is SOOOO true. When I was a young lieutenant (field artillery) I was lucky enough to have a fairly senior SSG as my team sergeant. He considered it his mission to turn me into a LT that wouldn't get us all killed and to turn our RTO into a potential replacement for him. I'd like to think I was smart enough to take good advantage of that. We had a great relationship that started with him teaching me and then became a really good team as I gained knowledge and confidence. When they pin gold bars on you, they've only sort of taught you how to be an officer. They really didn't teach me much how to actually do the job, day to day. SSG "Sam" taught me that. BTW when he got promoted to SFC and later I made CPT we were together again with him again as my top NCO, and that RTO by then was a SGT and did indeed take his place in our old team, and did it very well. One revolution in the cycle of leadership and learning.
  21. Yes, I checked and it looks the same on mine (and also 42). I'll submit it. Submitted to Mantis bug tracker.
  22. Good match for real life. The mantra when I was in the Army was always - "If you can be seen you WILL be hit. If you are hit, you WILL be dead" And that was some years ago. Weapons systems are even more deadly and accurate now.
  23. I'm ON the beta test team. It was a joke. Which also means I can't say anything. :-)
  24. The beta team its still recovering from shell shock from beating that TO&E into submission :-) (Note that I'm specifically not giving any kind of answer to the question :-) )
