  1. I thought it was especially interesting that according to the plan, fighters could "refuel" their lasers via tankers, meaning unmanned aircraft could have nearly unlimited operating time.
  2. I have no idea if this is accurate. Just saw it on Reddit. The article.
  3. hahaha. You can't place mimes on a bridge, they have to go on their own volition.
  4. Which kind of Lenovo did you get? I might need a new computer before the end of the year and it would be good to know
  5. I was curious if there's a difference in muzzle velocity between the two platforms. The HMG can really tear up light armored vehicles from the flanks and rear. Is this simply due to a smaller beaten zone though? Also, do HMG's deploy with more AP ammo by default?
  6. Also C2 is much quicker and more forgiving. You should be able to push your units a little harder than you used to.
  7. I stopped worrying about the price of BFC's products long ago. Why? Because I realized I'm not buying a game, I'm buying a drug And a powerful one at that. You can do as many of the cheaper drugs as you want but you'll never get as high as the good stuff. And lord knows you don't ask your dealer for half price because "This bag has the same stuff in it as last time".
  8. Well I guess that settles it . The Israeli's aren't exactly nailing jello to a tree over there.
  9. The guys from Jackass like to push a minecart as fast as they can and vault into the river, but there have been a few injuries lately and the mayor is tired of cleaning up all the trains But you're right about there being a lot of elevation. I think the intention was to raise the rail slightly on a mound above the ground around it. I'll try what you said to smooth it out.
  10. My experiences with Panthers have been similar. It seems like anytime you're fighting from a hull down position or the Allies have higher elevation than you your main gun gets knocked out. I'm perfectly ok with this- I've also taken a 290mm heat round from an AVRE and survived. Those Panthers are tough as hell. I think part of the problem you had according to your post is that your using your Panthers to get initial contact. While this certainly works because of the high quality optics those tanks have, it's not optimal. There's always a chance you're not going to spot in time and get blasted. I think what might have happened is those ATG's got sound contacts on your tanks rolling up so they knew where to look. If there was enough time before your Stugs got there C2 could have informed his tank destroyers of where your tanks were. So you always have to keep in mind how much noise you make. You always want recon units to spot for you, and you want the contacts they see to show up for your attacking units. If you had already spotted his units and your tanks had "?" signs on the contact when you clicked on them, the battle might have gone the other way. And ATG's reload realllllly fast compared to tanks.
  11. I only use it in combination with the keyboard to go REAL FAST (cause 'murica) But most of the time I wish it wouldn't move my view. If you could toggle it on and off in the options menu I'd probably leave it off.
  12. It's possible with Human 1.0. Preferably a trustworthy model. Combat Mission is the only game where the players get excited at the idea of less control. It reminds me a bit of "Enviro-Bear 2000" the bear driving simulator. In all seriousness though, I would love to see a full AAR of an AI only game.
  13. Found this relevant to bagpipes. We need this in CM
  14. Lolol. To be fair they didn't take his gun away. He was in a room full of Dirty Harrys
  15. Ok, time for a more specific question. How do you prevent this? The picture is of a rail road leading onto a railbridge. The rail has been ditchlocked to raise it slightly above the other terrain like so No matter how I vary the elevation near the bridge, ditchlocked or no, there is still an unsightly hump. I'm worried it'll cause problems for crossing vehicles.
  16. You might just be undersensitive It was funny though
  17. I need to modify my sig to justify itself I know it might not be "true" per se, but it's kinda "truthy" and definitely entertaining. Which come to think of it is my philosophy for map design. And everyone knows new candies are created by strangers accidently bumping into each other. And owls. And rainbows. Actually, I'm starting to suspect all these commercials might be exaggerated a little.
  18. You mean during setup creating an AI plan to go against someone elses AI plan? That would definitely be cool. You couldn't accuse the other player of gamey tactics
  19. How about just one turn for the battle? You input your orders, make them as detailed as possible, and then when everything is played out you hit ceasefire and see where you stand?
  20. In general the rule is shoot first ask questions later. Like he said if you have a soft spot on a contact you should light them up. It takes a lot of fire in this game to fully suppress an enemy position, just experiment with it and see how much you need. You want the enemy to be cowering on the floor, cause then they can't see you coming and they can't fire at you.
  21. I agree completely. Earlier I said I was more interested in creating balanced maps for H2H play, less so than scenarios. I feel like if the scoring and the terrain are balanced correctly everything should fall into place. I played CMBN for a real long time against the AI before I worked up the courage to jump on the forums. One of my best experiences was getting my teeth kicked in mission 1 of Paper Tiger's Road to Nijmegen. I stepped back, did a bunch of research on tactics, and then went back and finished the whole campaign without reloading a save. It was so well designed it blew my mind. The mission Turning Back The Tide in particular stands out to me. When I played the last turn I was mentally exhausted. I had struggled so hard and I still only won by the skin of my teeth. Then, as I looked over the battlefield I got goosebumps. It was kind of scary to think that could actually happen. It really drew me in. But the super neat thing about playing against people (particularly those you trust) is that there's always the potential for that kind of emotional involvement, or whatever.
  22. I might be joining you soon brother. Being notebook nobility comes at a price
