City road signs... as opposed to highway signs, which are stock in SF2 & BS:-

Is incredible what can give all these news flavours objects in in a scene, a touch of reality, a feeling to be there yourself... !

Truth be told, all the Hescos I've seen are a dirty grey color. In all my time in Iraq they were all the same.

Yes I agree, definitely the way to go with this and one small option problem solved!

This is what I was thinking the grey-sand colour for the desert mode and the "ocher green" for the "European Russian" landscapes !!

@The Steppenwulf I did some experimentation, but I don't have anything conclusive. One of these days I will get all my notes together and put them out, but for now it's best for people to experiment and share what they find. The meta data is the key to getting custom vehicles fully working since it contains data for wheels and suspensions.

Yep this is easy, I'll get packaging everything up as soon as I get an hour. We're still waiting for CMmods 4 to activate though. Been waiting for weeks now to upload my new Sf2 UI mod.

I've seen some previews of what @The Steppenwulfis up to and I am really excited - we need this sort of battlefield stuff.

Regarding checkpoints, safe zones etc.. (for anything fortified really), I wanted to increase the selection of sandbags (some stacked higher & longer). With these varied sandbag objects, the scenario designer can assemble stacks as required. A diorama screenshot will illustrate, but obviously these objects can be combined with all others to embellish the scene/situation:-

One feature that I believe is missing from all CM2 games is the capacity for scenario designers to make realistic roadblocks. Ideally these would vary from military style stop points to full on barricades! Application of current flavour objects and a new set of manipulated objects will offer more possibilities. With this aim I have extended the range of objects from which roadblocks can be constructed Below is a very simple mock up but could be integrated with all sorts of other flavour objects (stock or modded ) to dress up the situation, it's just a question of imagination.......more examples to follow. 🐺

No worries. To whet the appetite, I'll post screenshots of more of my flavour mods within the next week or so.

As soon as CM Mods 4 is active, there'll be a stream of my work being uploaded. First up will be my comprehensive UI for SF2.

New version 0.9.2 of the Blender tools has been released. The importer/exporter now support what I call "metadata". For example, import bush1.mdr from CMSF2 with the meta data import enabled and you will see that the "trunk" object has custom properties.

Just bumping this thread so it's easier to find.  Looking forward to the above flavor objects being introduced into CMSF2.

I just don't see those as WTF moments.
For me a CM WTF moment is when my cunningly concealed T-55MV tracks the side on Abrams right to the end of the turn, then mysteriously loses sight of it just in time for the orders phase!

Is it possible to disable the authoring of new posts? It would be appropriate for the transfer period.

First, thank you for keeping us so well informed - you are doing a great job!
Can you remind me how we install the patch to a game in progress to see the fixes take effect? It must be done while the game is saved in the "command" phase and then you can resume regular play, right?

Which is more than possible with careful scenario design, of course.

It's hard though - you can throw down a WW2 German and US infantry company with an objective in the centre and have a reasonably balanced, and even an interesting battle. You really can't do that with Red vs Blue in CMSF, and you especially can't do that with Uncons.

Interesting to see that I’m not the only one who thinks this way. Especially when playing against  a stronger player, or one who has the stronger side, as we sometimes see in CMSF2 or CMBS, I decided some time ago to play more to deny the enemy an outright win than to try to win myself. And in some truly tough battles, eking out a draw can feel like a huge victory from my standpoint. If I exceed my expectations, so much the better, but not winning is not an automatic disappointment.

That's one reason I almost always give my opponent the choice on what and how we play. Aside from something like, 'no hedgrows' or 'some nasty weather if you don't mind'.
I care about the quality of the game, far more than the outcome.

This is exactly the type of AI behaviour -  experienced in other scenarios -  that stopped me playing BN for past two years, assuming it would be fixed by the patch! 😕
