Michael Emrys are you there?
kohlenklau replied to Sequoia's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
No calls back yet. Tried again but still no answer. So get this...why does this maybe mean a bit more to me? Beyond just being fellow forumites and having respect for Michael (age ~71) as I have seen his posts as helpful, etc. Well, always for many many years now I saw his profile and he is actually from a town maybe a half hour or so from where my older sister lives! In fact I just chatted with my sister, she is a nurse and she will get boots on the ground to pass him a short note I e-mailed to her for us maybe tomorrow as she heads to work in Seattle. Your buddies from Battlefront website say a warm hello, hope you have a quick recovery and please swing by the combat mission forums soon to say hello. I told her to maybe grab some flowers! -
I aint crossing it ever. You only built it to take my toll money! I am either swimming or going amphibious in my schwimmwagen!

Michael Emrys are you there?
kohlenklau replied to Sequoia's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Hi fellas. On the phone for several hours. neighbors, police, churches, apartment manager, etc. The bad news is he was reported to have been injured in some type of motor vehicle accident back around March the officer said. Then he went to a convalescent hospital but they are unable to tell me anything other than "not listed as a resident at this time"... Good news: property manager finally answered my 2nd call and she says he is doing well and she'll give him my number to call me.- 98 replies

Hey Dennis! I sent a PM to the OP (Lee) and waddya know..he lives like within an hour of me. So I plan to do a phone call tech assist and try to get all his problems resolved to the best of my ability. But of course you have helped and the final invoice I give him will include your usual fee...still only in Euro? Or can he as a Texan pay in dried habanero peppers?

Most everyone of your initial downloaded items will be folders tnat are compressed as zip or rar. Uncompress them using the appropriate software, right click and see if you already have the capability on your PC. BEFORE they uncompress, make note of where they will go. USUALLY they will then be mostly the mod files that are altered images that are files named with the ending .bmp which are bitmap format image files. You also might have a readme file as a text file, word file or adobe pdf to open and read what it says. But I looked at this ranger one and the modder packed it back into a .brz folder. It is a long story but I don't like to do that but oh well. No matter, shove it in your z folder. It should work. Then you gotta go into the game and purchase some rangers and see if you can tell it is a different look. See if you even like it! Because the modder did not provide a preview shot in the suppository. Maybe take a screenshot before and after?

..start getting sloppy.... That is the exact term I use as well. Too many units to keep an eye on and my battle goes south. ...and/or I just end up missing even to observe and enjoy some cool, fine grained "KODAK moment" that we're paying to be modelled/portrayed, whatever the right word is... Reminds me when one time I played CMX1, probably CMAK, a few turns into the battle I double-tapped the ctrl-c or shift-c or whatever to change the size of the soldiers (little-big-bigger-biggest) and dang if I didn't see that I left some immobile unit way back at the set-up zone!

Thanks for the screenshots Marco! -
My CMRT scenario ideas in-box has a bunch labelled "pending: waiting on snow..."

Maybe scenarios are like cakes and cookies? Somebody brings you a giant cake or 4 dozen of their favorite homemade cookies. I usually have to pass that stuff on to my dogs, my relatives or that weird dude in the accounts payable section. In that order. Just 1 cookie or a cupcake? I can eat that. As long as the raisins aren't moving.

If we can't call it CM Gothic Line...how about CM Emo Line?

Description: An attempt to provide a HTH battle for PBEM. Might also be played as allies against the Axis AI. I haven't spent too much time on it. There is only a very simple briefing and no briefing maps. The game map was mostly done by folkie. I added a few things as well. I hope it is something of at least some minor enjoyment. It is NOT that style of a balanced scenario for PBEM play. Maybe it is more like a WW2 battle where things were NOT balanced. kohlenklau 25.May.2015 http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods/5533/details

Question about using CMBN uniform mods in CMFI
kohlenklau replied to lcm1977's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
If you find mods you like for these American uniforms, they should be able to go to either game. smod_american_m41_uniform -

Do you use CM helper? If so, can you see if it says he also is a CM helper user? -

Speaking of console games... Maybe the CM Bulge German Campaign with KG Peiper will have "power-ups" to be the fuel dumps they try to capture from the allies? -

Maybe an analogy is building a separate house on your property versus adding on a new room addition to your existing house? Pluses and minuses to each way. Man Cave? -
Operation Hercules: The Invasion of Malta [WIP]
kohlenklau replied to kohlenklau's topic in CM Fortress Italy Maps and Mods
The H2H "Operation" has been usually a team against team as orchestrated by the umpire with predefined OOB's. That is what we are doing in Eindhoven '44 over in CMBN forums. Now in Ortona '43 I am experimenting with a team against an umpire's team just to simplify things. Less people required. Easier to manage fog of war and have an open forum AAR for the actual playing team. I am willing to assist you and your buddy in formulating a H2H campaign. I enjoy setting things up and watching the action unfold. I wouldn't want to bite into too big a project. How big are you thinking? Would it be CMFI with this Malta Operation or Ortona or were you thinking of something else? CMRT? CMBN? PM me if you want to open up on the idea. -

Maps in briefings not aligned north
kohlenklau replied to Templer's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
This is why I try to make all my own game maps be horizontally long rectangles... ..but then in the TacMap I could just have north point downwards to appease the Australians? -

Operation Hercules: The Invasion of Malta [WIP]
kohlenklau replied to kohlenklau's topic in CM Fortress Italy Maps and Mods
Yes! I create the CM battles and get 2 humans to battle it out. They are not the usual, "balanced" for H2H play you see in the repository. They are what they are! A battle distilled from the results of the operational situation, headcounts from previous battles, the dispositions based on commander's decisions/orders. A Canadian company with an attached troop or 2 of shermans plus some engineers supported by maybe mortars or maybe 25 pounders moves forward and clashes with the German units defending along a river. What defenses will they encounter...?
