agusto, I only own 10 acres, all designated as wildlife management. But only on the other side of a fence is the longhorn cattle, sheep, horses and such. I have never been to a rodeo myself so if you come, then maybe we'll go see it together for the first time and wear big hats and belt buckles and try and rangle some cowgirls?

CMPzC Operation "Bloody Christmas" (Ortona '43)
kohlenklau replied to kohlenklau's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
The San Donato combat has concluded. I am crunching the numbers and will have the specific overall result soon. Basically the hex is still in axis hands but allied units may/can have control of some new PzC hexes alongside San Donato. Then when the axis part of the turn starts, we will see if the axis try to reinforce the Fallschirmjagers in San Donato. -
John and Stephen Looks like we might end up serving beaver brisket stuffed with vegamite salsa? Lol, nobody will die of hunger on this trip. John, we are not really doing any kind of LAN party in my house at this point but I do have some capability to project up on my 60" TV in the family room. I would rather enjoy something like that at a hotel-convention center where we can all relax. Stephen, since the divorce, the only female in my house has a pink collar and a tail. But Austin and San Antonio are crawling with eye candy. Stephen: you are a serious longest distant attendee contender for the special spam collection! The heat and humidity: We are NOT gonna sit out in the sun and heat guys! Dang! Aint you heard of "air Kone-dish-nin" ?

I enjoyed Edinburgh as a port visit in '88 (age 23) as my salvage ship came back off Norway ops. Met a Scottish girl Fiona in a crazy club near the port. Next day went to the castle. Surprise! Met some American College exchange student girls...one was Nancy. General's daughter! "But February made me shiver with every paper I'd deliver.." Basically college days in sudden overtime? We all crashed in a hostel and on the bus back to London we had "fun" while everyone else slept... Later a bit the Lockerbie 747 was downed...I called her home and she was not on that plane.

Thanks Agusto. Good advice. I went and posted a bread crumb thread to lead them here.... New Rule: Next year 2016 is a leap year and every leap year the CM Conference MUST be held at an actual WW2 battlefield city/location.....covered by a CM game! Thus no Montevideo, Uruguay wisecracks please! So, where do we go in 2016?

But see Carl, you already are planning a join up with you know who! His plan was in a PM so I will maintain OPSEC in the public threads. So, the spirit is in you both already to try to meet face to face at an opportunity and raise a toast to common interests. Your mini CM Conference will happen before mine and might be better!

I don't know what exactly you want to do with the mods but we can wait and talk on the phone this weekend as you desire. As you get more experienced (and you will!) it is fun to then have no problem or fear to get in the folders to mix and match mods so to create your own personal stylized pack(s). If you really get into this modding stuff, we gotta get you some graphics tools and you can put insignia and such on your shirts....vehicles too.

I fully understand Baney. I guess we will have a 2nd one if this one even happens at all. I am well acclimatized to the Texas heat so I will not buck against those from other areas who would not like hot and sunny with many girls in bikinis or silky nothings...all those female catering staff in their t-shirts clinging to their moist bodies as they hustle another round of beers and food over to me and the other guys. Hey Mark, howz about anytime now on to 1600 CST? OK? +/- I am at "work"....

ok, this is a bloggy kind of thread. Let me elaborate here about something I chatted with on the phone with a buddy forumite. Tell me if I am full of crap... 168 hours in a week. You chop out sleep, PT/gym time, the job, chores, driving and eating and a bunch of other stupid stuff like waiting in lines. Oh, I read that the average person spends 2 or 3 years in lines during their life. Uggh. Anyway, so finally you have those few hours of your own time and what do you or can you effectively spend them on? Golfing? What do you guys do as hobbies? You all probably have some really great hobbies. So maybe one of your CM friends might also share a common 2nd hobby. You can do that out here and play a round of golf with your CM PBEM buddy. Etc Etc for other hobbies. But I think for time spent and the ability to just jump into a PBEM, really for me, CM is my #1 hobby. I love to hit the gym for a mile swim or a cardio machine and weights, etc. But I go there with my sons usually and it is a set time to be there and not a 5 minute play a turn when you see a turn come in type hobby. Plus all the time I spend on the forum. I don't do facebook or other sites that time-suck. Just here. The point here is that maybe I am needing a new hobby? No! The point is I think to add to that #1 hobby some other facets. CM to me is the intersection of my love for military history, the interests into technology/mechanics/science/weapons, politics and then lately also on to graphic art with mods and creativity in scenarios and on and on. Now add in a better face to face friendship or 2 and a game of lawn darts! I can sharpen them if you want?
