  1. What if the driver behind the wall was given a target order some where away from the test shooters. Would that give him the same motivation to stay up and do his job as the HT gunner? My guess is no but I am curious.
  2. I was asking for verification. For some reason when I wrote that in my head it was not clear. After re reading your post I have no idea why it was unclear in my head - it just was.
  3. I was thinking that @Rokko's method of counting bullets to get a kill vs time might be a good measure. Mind you that would also mean you really want one shooter to make it fare because after all if one or two guys take pot shots at the guy behind the wall while every body tried to light up the HT gunner even counting bullets is not going to work. Perhaps the shooter should be a one person vehicle crew member as well.
  4. @Vinnart 's animated text mod is one of the few mods I really feel like I need. I have not heard if he is planning to do that work and he has not been around the forums in a while. @Vinnart are you beavering away at this?
  5. Question for ya. the number is the number of bullets it took to hit - correct? What does the (k) mean? One thing to consider is elevation. Was the solider at the same elevation as the HT gunner? The terrain for the solider test should be adjusted so that his height as closely matches the HT gunner's height. No, restarting the game is *not* necessary. If you save the setup with orders etc before the "Calculating" message is shown you can go back to that save as often as you like at watch a new version of the time line unfold.
  6. Hey, we are not all arrogant. Oh wait I've been called that here on this very forum. Wow given how people here are always right I guess I have to reevaluate my entire life. OK maybe we are that arrogant
  7. This was looked at a long time ago: Very little difference - certainly not noticeable.
  8. OK that is a funny site. When I read your link I figured you were just playing around using the url for effect.
  9. Cool. I had one KO'ed from a strafing run the other day. Killed the TC and then multiple additional hits through the hatch until the vehicle was knocked out. Ah that sucks. Normally strafing runs against closed top AFVs amount to a hill of beans. I guess the key is to actually close the top Back to yours. Do you watch them actually KO'ing the stug or just see the end screen giving them credit - I am not clear from your post which it is. Not specifically addressing your instance but be aware that the grenade count does not go down as grenades are used during the turn. As you watch the play back the grenade count is set to the value that the unit will have at the end of the turn. So it is possible for stuff to happen as a result of grenades even though as you watch the unit seems to have none. For example if a team of you men have two grenades as the move through the forest and just as the turn ends the spot some enemy soldiers. In the next turn play back you would likely see they start the turn with zero grenades but if you watch the play back you will see them throw two of them. Like I said not sure what is up in your specific situation yet because we need a bit more info.
  10. Sorry, I was not clear, some how. I was specifically wondering how it would help it being added to the briefing for battles where sun rise and sun set times play no part at all. You said, originally, that you wanted it added automatically to the briefing. Having it in the conditions dialog would be an OK addition. I feel your pain.
  11. OK never mind - installing an up to date 7zip fixed things.
  12. OK I went to go and get them and could not unzip them. Is anyone else having such a problem? I have WinZip and 7Zip. WinZip was clueless and 7Zip said the files were compressed with an unsupported file format. What *should* I use to unzip them?
  13. What would be the value of adding sunrise and sunset times to the briefing of say a half hour battle at 1100. Heck even for a 2 hour battle?
  14. Good point about the drivers. I might have made a mistake there. I am not sure if I just failed to count them or forgot to get them out and on the line. So, the US platoon certainly did everything right. They scrounged for better weapons (should have only had carbines but got all M1s and BARs plus a couple of MGs), picked a good location, got lots of ammunition, did an excellent job of scouting and dug in really well. Preparation pays off. The inexperienced German commanders really botched it though. They continued and advance across an open field facing machine guns, twice. They failed to assess the extent of the US positions. If they had pulled back from that field and spent even half an hour scouting they would have done the right thing (the flanking assault through the woods) by 11 am that morning and hardly missed a beat. Poor preparation costs a lot.
  15. Hee hee. They did even better in real life. Here is a reasonable summary: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Lanzerath_Ridge
  16. Good, sounds like something is funky there. It also sounds like it is getting reported internally too by @mjkerner. So, that is double good.
  17. Lol good question. Hey @JanMasterson how about uploading to the scenario depot? www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3
  18. That was the way I remembered it too. Perhaps it is worth a look to see if the behavior is different between the two vehicles.
  19. Or you guys have spotted something worse that needs looking at. When you have a something specific save a save of the game and perhaps record a video since it has to do with placing way points. But also watch closely in other games and see if you see the same thing or not.
  20. I see that happening in all the titles. Usually in terrain with lots of changes or near walls and fences. I usually don't change anything and the soldiers go to sensible locations.
  21. Lol. We have yellow snow in game actually. Check out any snow on an objective. The green objective highlighting looks pretty yellow when it is over snow.
  22. Yeah no tracks in the snow is to bad. You really don't want all tracks to be seen by everyone - like the damage to fences. That would be one option. The problem with making tracks a spottable featue was the load on the system was just too much. Believe me you don't want that. A couple of other ideas were kicked around but didn't work out. I think there are some thoughts on this for the future but for now it is the way it is.
