CMSF2 v2.01 Released!

Well that was uncalled for. Grow up man. Only 6 ours since you joined and you are likely getting added to ignore lists. That has to be some kind of record. -
RWS Mk19 accuracy and RWS weapon reload
A Canadian Cat replied to Witchhaven's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 2
Well it is possible that adjustments need to be made. Can you point to the videos and maybe a game save showing things not behaving the same? This is tricky. Whatever the game does has to work with the AI controlled units. So, having the player intervene directly is not good. How it works now is a compromise and likely what we will have to live with. -

Not to mention (and I realize you didn't mention them because they are not part of the context you were discussing) the countless civilian dead the "insurgents" caused with their bombings of markets, mosques and murder in the night. -

No. -
The installer that you download has everything you need. So, it you have the full installer than you need no additional software. Activation needs access to a server to verify your key. No significant download happens during this process. The DRM will squirrel away information on the computer you activate on in a separate location from the install itself. If you have some kind of Internet access you can likely get the activation process to work. So, if you bring the downloaded installer with you on a USB drive you can likely succeed. However there are a limited number of activations you can do with a given key. How many new computers are you planning to install on? Keep in mind that there is no unactivate process.

Update on Engine 4 patches
A Canadian Cat replied to Battlefront.com's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
Very true but a bit one sided. I guess the trouble I have is the "most" part. Looking at the patterns of unhappy customers is how you find areas that need attention. At the company I work at we have used that feedback to update the way we document features, reworked whole networking messaging because of configuration confusion and remove whole features in favor of using third party systems that were in common use already by our customers. However the 'most' unhappy customers are actually just pissed off, frequently unreasonable jerks. Sorry like all things human there are jackasses out there and you run into them. Those angry unreasonable people are not a source of learning - unless you are talking about learning to stay polite in the face of rudeness Analyzing thier problem along with all other incidents *is* the source of learning. A long way to say being polite and expressing your problem *is* helpful and contributes to making a better product. Being an entitled jackass contributes nothing more, while at the same time making you difficult to deal with and harming those that have to deal with you. -
Yes, you can copy the installer to a USB drive and install on other computers. No, you cannot install to a USB drive and run it on other computers. On any computer you install to you will have to activate it. There is no getting around that. I have never activated without internet access. So, I have no personal experience. I recommend that you contact support to get thier guidence if the activation instructions are not clear.

?? @CanuckGamer I have not seen that behaviour. Do you have a save? @JoMc67 what I have seen is if you have a vehicle selected as it dies there is a point where you see the battle field as if nothing is selected. Given that shows the sum total of the battlefield lintel you can be left with the feeling that the KO'ed vehicle sees that stuff. Could that explain what you are seeing?

Terrain Description
A Canadian Cat replied to joethejet's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
Well there ya go. I thought you *were* talking about having the manual describe all the combinations or the game UI showing you all the detail of what is under foot. So, no it would not be bad for there to be a set of pictures identifying what each ground type was. Honestly though, I am not sure it really would change much. Actually I would argue that the UI does do a good job - you can look the environment in game and see that there is a house a shed a wall and trees on some kind of dirt with grass. Mission accomplished the game has show the player everything they need to know about the terrain at that location. Exactly what a soldier walking up to that house would have. Seems good to me. -

Yeah I'm not buying any of that. First - and a thick detailed manual with all kinds of information on terrain tiles and combinations of tiles and their full effects on different vehicles would make the game more approachable. Yeah, "no". Second with any game, and in fact real life, those that come prepared *do* have an advantage. That's the number one reason armies train - to be prepared. -
Yeah it is hard to really know when this might happen but if you suspect that the obstacles and terrain in the are of the door will slow things down you can split the squad and issue similar orders for each team but pause the start of the second and third team 5 or 10 seconds. Or maybe only one team needs to be split and paused. At any rate that my not be totally satisfying but sometimes we have to learn how to issue orders that will be followed the way we want rather than wait for changes or fixes that might take a long time or never come because these corner cases are too risky to tweak.

New Scenario - Assault on Port Cros
A Canadian Cat replied to Combatintman's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
LOL he's planning to pick off that sentry at 100m with his pistol... -
Setting the issues with intel's graphics cards aside - cause we know they suck for CM. Wait is that bad? I have my Nvidia settings set to keep to 30fps and routinely play (larger) games at 20fps and lower. And I never look at the fps numbers and worry. I just play. The camera controls moves well or tolerable for the larger scenarios. And I have a good time. If you are upset just because the fps numbers are giving you heart burn then turn them off and play. Or if there are actual control issues then that's different. I would expect them to be roughly the same. For example the CMSF2 demo is just the code that was released as GA with some tweaks (for demoness) and resources removed.

Flexible wego time limit?
A Canadian Cat replied to z1812's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
Since we are talking about search... You can use google's site modifier: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b&q=site%3Acommunity.battlefront.com+wego+turn+length type site:community.battlefront.com and then your search terms. I find that works better than the built in search. -
I'll just add that I think what starts this is congestion points. In this case the back door. A full squad of say 9 guys starts heading out the door. The last team rather than sitting there doing nothing can get going to by heading out the front door. But by doing that they are now on a different path and things start to diverge. I follow what @Combatintman man suggestion about placing way points directly in front of the entrance I wand to see used. Typically I only put an additional way point right on the other side if this is an environment with lots of obsticals.

New Scenario - Assault on Port Cros
A Canadian Cat replied to Combatintman's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Is he holding his .45 with support form two hands? I don't think I have ever seen that in the game before. -
Humm I'm not sure. When I tried to recreate it (after your report a few weeks ago) I could not with a new map. So, all I could do was report the existing map with the problem you found. It is possible that older maps have the problem baked in. So, to fix them we would need each and every building that has the problem to be pointed out. Sigh. I'll try recreating it in a few more titles just to make sure but that seems like it will not fix existing older maps.
