  1. I would recommend a custom built PC. The thing about PCs is that there are so many different options that an off the self model is unlikely to a perfect fit for anything except "general" use. If you are buying a PC for a specific purpose my advice is to find a computer store run by tech geeks, explain what you intend to do with it and let them build it for you.
  2. This may be a little off topic because it goes to the motivation of german troops in general rather than the SS specifically. I am currently reading a book about Market Garden from the German perspective: It Never Snows in September: The German View of Market Garden and the Battle of Arnhem, September 1944 by Robert J. Kershaw.
  3. I think I was a bit too subtle in my earlier post. The point I was trying to make was that the release date announced on the gamepressure.com website is 13 May 2011.
  4. From my internet research I understand leather SS trench coats are are quite popular in certain circles.
  5. The good news is that I know the release date. The bad news is I won't tell you what it is. By the way, it's 13 May 2011.
  6. If flying around the battlefield with a mouse and keyboard is an issue maybe this is the solution to your problem:
  7. Why has no one here mentioned the tactial benefits conferred on the SS by their really cool uniforms?
  8. I have good news and bad news. I know the real release date. I won't tell you what it is but, from reading these posts, is seems to me that the pressure of wating for this game is too much for some. I suggest everone take a week off to get some work/life/gaming balance. On a completely unrelated note, does anyone remember this post: Boy, was Pwnado wrong with his April 26 prediction.
  9. I have a different theory on this (that is, neither relative or absolute). I am, essentially, a lazy and self indulgent person. I have the great good fortune to live alone and so my PC is in my living room connected to my 52 inch LCD TV and I use it while sitting in an arm chair. Given this set up I like to play games either with a joy pad or with a mouse only. I recently purchsed a 13 button logitech G700 mouse. I have been experimenting with the CMSF interface and (using the space bar method of inputting commands) I have stumbled upon the following settings. Its not perfect, but if you like to use your computer one handed (as I do) then I think you will find this method adequate.
  10. It wouldn't bore the crap out of me. I am a bit of a DL content whore. One of the first things I do with any new game is download all the user created content I can find and then mod the crap out of my game until I break it. Then I generally reinstall the game to return it to its virgin state. After decades of this practice I have come to realise that there is a direct relationship between the time spent on a project and the quality of the outcome. Paper Tiger, I am very much interested in any map in which the creator has invested a lot of time. Please tell me your Suffolk map is one of the maps included in the release. If yes, please advise the name of the map.
  11. Excuse me for pointing this out Sixxkiller, but it appears you do not understand how internet forums work. The purest form of criticism occurs when the critic understands nothing about the subject matter.
  12. Sure. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS0eeaOI01E
  13. This news explains why no one is talking about the beatification of Pope John Paul II.
  14. One of the problems with internet forums is that you can never tell when someone is being serious. When I first read this post I thought it was a joke (because the suggestion was so ridiculous). But if it is a serious post, then I will answer it by saying this is one of those circumstances where the question is the answer. If the release of a product was dependant on everyone not “piss[ing] and moan[ing] about anything that may be wrong” then our most sophisticated tools would be rocks and sticks (and we would have to find our own rocks and sticks). When mrpwase suggested you “stop whining and wait for the release” he was making a perfectly sensible suggestion. The problem with your suggestion is that you can’t assume that no one will piss and moan. As the good people at Battlefront are well aware, one must assume the exact opposite. Human beings are like fault finding super computers. They piss and moan about everything. My answer to your suggestion is to stop whining and wait for the release.
  15. I am thinking of seeking compensation for the time wasted reading this thread.
  16. Yes, on my monitor the village is only 27 inches wide.
  17. Ranger33, I have read the entire thread and it seems the solution to your problem is as follows: Step1: Buy an iPad and a Kindle. Step 2: Sit on the toilet and read the manual. I think there is supposed to be a step in between step 1 and 2 (because I have both and iPad and a toilet, but I am still sitting here in front of my computer).
  18. What concerns me most about these comments is not the profanity but the apparently poor understanding of English grammar. I think the only grammatically correct statement was the following by RitaMansour:
  19. Wodin I am sorry to say this, but I think on this rare occasion Michael Michael Emrys is absolutely correct. You do need some balance in your life. Now to get that balance I don't recomment you look up Candyis14 (unless right now your life is too perfect). Maybe you should give Candyis18 a shot.
  20. I know you have all been basking in the glory of the three video AARs, but I want to take you back to a simpler time, when Battlefront launched Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy with You might be interested to know that, whereas the third video AAR has so far received 3,607 views, the video of the packaging receieved 3,935. That smells like success to me. It was also interesting to read the public reaction to the launch video. I have extracted the comments to the video below. Some of the comments were breath takingly frank. In order to comply with the rules of this forum I have edited the comments and replaced some of the more interesting words with the names of various types of fruit.
  21. Semi-historical is hard to define, but if you want a good example read Band of Brothers by Stephen Ambrose.
  22. Wodin you are falling into a trap. It is my understanding that the entire point of internet forums is to establish a false persona and say provocative things (that you wouldn't dare say in person). You can't assume anyone means what they say or is who they say they are. I myself had a very uncomfortable experience with an internet poster "Candyis14". I won't go into details, but I can tell you I am still paying off the legal fees.
  23. You can do it in Crysis 2 so it is certainly feasable.
  24. My bad. Appologies for not taking your dilema more seriously.
  25. Yea, I think this one was a joke. If this were a serious post one wonders how WillLight typed "(_)" in his post. (Sorry for busting you Will.)
