  1. Hi Childress, I think I may have mislead you. My Dad didn't die on Saipan, he died in 2008 at age 87! But we do have something in common. My Dad's first cousin was on the DD Hoel at the Battle of Samar when she went after the BB Kongo in order to save the Baby Flattops of Taffy 3. He was killed apparently after the sinking...his brother did a lot of research on it and he made it into the water, but was never rescued after that. A Big Salute to all the brave souls of WWII. P.S. Saunders is my real name. Kerner is my stage (Interwebs) name.
  2. My Dad was in the 105th/27th and in the middle of that. Well, he was on the flank with 3rd Bn, which avoided the full head-on thrust the rest of the Regiment faced. But still. Pfc. Francis E. Saunders, BAR gunner. Rest in Peace.
  3. James, PM me. I can help you out some.
  4. Take away their credit cards! But seriously, what exactly do you mean? Surely if BFC did do the PTO, they would program AI units to randomly get Fanatic and Fast or Quick move to the nearest enemy unit. Something like that. You could have a Banzai move option when you played the Japanese. ...Oh hell, I don't know...but I have implicit faith in Charles and Steve to work it out!
  5. I need to backtrack a bit. I would like to see CM:PTO first. Then CM:Indochina, CM:'Nam and CM:Korea in no particular order. BFC won't be looking at doing any of these any time soon, if at all, but there is hope for a 3rd party developer to contract to do them, I suppose.
  6. Unfortunately, James, some textures have been completely renamed, including uniforms among other things. The purpose is to ultimately bring more variety and flexibility in uniforms and gear, and combos of each. So those mods need to be renamed.
  7. Seedorf, Oddball never patented it, though, because Moriarity's negative waves put him off the idea. There's your opening....
  8. Count me in, but it will be a "few" years if at all.
  9. James, are you talking about the bunkers themselves or the troops inside? I haven't had too much trouble with eventually nailing the occupants, and IIRC, once the troops are destroyed, the bunker cannot be entered by anyone (but I could be mis-remembering...I May have seen the destroyed icon on those bunkers I couldn't re-enter. it's been a while.)
  10. If you are working with transparencies, which I assume I you are, it's 32 bit, Rake.
  11. Oh yeah, that...gremlins? I haven't noticed any problems like that with the various patches and upgrades to 2.01 (or whatever is the latest version). I seem to have all the original ones and a whole bunch of player-made ones, but I haven't really done an inventory though. I do know that many of them are still around, just not sure all of them are.
  12. True enough. I already do that, but it is time consuming and clunky. I can wait, though.
  13. Great idea. I suppose something like this won't come about until 3.0, but I hope BFC is taking notes!
  14. I just did. No wonder that name rang a bell. Good one, Looey!
  15. Does a sound contact constitute "spotted"? I never thought about it until this thread, but it seems the TAC-AI lobs grenades without a full-on spotting of the enemy. I'll have to test it this weekend. @Broadsword56: How ya been? I still am looking forward to MG battles under your campaign system, B-sword. I'll be retired in August, so I should be able to particiapte fully in your campaign, if you still need an opponent (and if MG is even released by then). If not, put me down as a fill-in/replacement player.
  16. I spent a lot of flying time in a Me 210*...looks like one to me. *In IL2 Sturmovik:D
  17. I'm pretty certain that my TAC AI-controlled P-truppen have lobbed grenades at enemies I/they can't see. I assumed they were acting on sound contacts.
  18. My experience is that if you slow (crawl) them to within one Action Square of the enemy you wish to 'nade, they will use their grenades most, if not all, of the time. YMMV
  19. We can only hope. The timeline within which the 3 new post-CMFI releases (MG, EF, something Modern) were to be here ends this July-ish, IIRC. Either we are going to be very dissappointed, or very, very happy by July 31!
  20. Nice catch! His lips do looked pursed, as if he's saying "Hmmmmmmm, maybe I better re-think this Ranger idea...":)
  21. Another small point to make is that scenarios that ship with the game/module are playable from either side...there are AI plans for both Axis and Allies. But that is not always the case with player-made scenarios; often in the "Battles" screen area, these scenarios don't indicate whether they can or can't be played by a particular side. You you want to know, just go into the editor and pull up the scenario in question, choose "AI" and check whether there are orders for either/both sides' groups.
