  1. I bought a couple of games recently and finally got around to backing them up. Get my stack of CD-Rs and... wait... the files are over 750mbs. OK lets try zip or 7zip or winrar. Nope they won't compress. Do I go buy DVDs when rumor has it that CDs and DVDs are going away?
  2. LODs are that girl that looks hot from far away but when you get closer...
  3. No joke. My nephew and I hooked up a 9" color TV with an RF modulator and were amazed to see Ultima and other games in color after a long time with the green screen. It had two floppy drives so we didn't have to swap/flip discs as often as other people.
  4. My first PC was an Apple IIe and waiting for Windows games to be ported to the Apple was painful.
  5. Actually the US used Brit carriers in the Philippines. They diverted a load that were to go to Brits somewhere else. Boyes ATRs too.
  6. I have been able to shorten wav or ogg files to chop off unwanted sound. I used the Banzai ogg file from the old game Rising Sun for a wav mod to Battle Academy. I can try to do a file for you. Send me what you have or I can send you mine.
  7. I use Audacity to mod sound files. It's free.
  8. What ever it is, it will be on facebook before you see it here.
  9. David Ono of Los Angeles TV KABC 7 documentary series won an award recently http://www.nikkeiview.com/blog/2011/11/21/kabcs-david-ono-honors-nisei-soldiers-of-100th442nd-rct-w-terrific-series-of-4-short-documentaries/
  10. There is also a reason that there are dozer blade equipped tanks. It wasn't normal to risk the damage to the tank to push something out of the way or go through buildings.
  11. In the Mod Tools folder is Rez Exploder.
  12. Comma separated values, can be viewed as a spread sheet.
  13. I'm new too and the advice seems to be to use your infantry to spot the enemy way before your armour gets into range of the enemy. What is different to the old games, besides relative sighting, is that you need to stop your troops and let them look for a while to see things. Don't keep them on the move. Alternate squads and teams moving and sitting.
  14. The threat of mutual destruction is a factor with Cuba but the same can be said about Cold War games and lots of people want to play those. There was always the chance that one side (US into Cuba) or the other (WP into Germany) would chance an invasion betting that the other side would not use nukes. At least not right away.
  15. First part, I thought of SF first because of the Syrian civilians and regulars and that maybe with all the modules there might be a lower tech Western army to use for USA/Batista. With BN the enemy would have to be Germans. Second part, that is why the "what if". They were pinned or destroyed because the USA didn't support them. I always wondered what would have been, had the USA invaded and occupied Cuba before the Soviets got the missles in. Or if they invaded after the Missile Crisis. And a what if allows you to give the Cuban/Soviets some toys to play with.
  16. Has anyone done or thought of trying, a scenario that depicts the Cuban Bay of Pigs debacle? Or a "what if" where the USA supports the anti-Castro forces? No armour for the USA and a few old bits for the Cuban/Soviet/Civilians
  17. Going from memory of my CMAK mods, before Pearl Harbor the US military had been trimmed down to bare minimum after WWI. Marines in the Pacific had tan denim work uniforms. I don't recall exactly when the tan camo was developed. BFC Steve used to have a webpage here of his uniform collection that gave a lot of info. After Pearl, the warehouses were cleared of all the tan gear and new stuff was sage green, not the olive of the army. There was a lot of mixing because of supply logistics. New recruits got the green and old timers had the tan. Replacement items were whatever they had or could scrounge.
  18. In the New Testament it says you can have your cake and eat it too. Or sumfink
  19. LOL Mord and someone will be along soon to tell us that if we played real time like God intended, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
  20. Some of the people that think that God put the 60 second rule on the tablet that Moses brought down the hill also screamed when BFC announced that CMx2 would be real time.
  21. Burning BMP in Syria. Someone blows it up near the end. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=0a5_1323904393
  22. Yes. It might also make PBEM file sizes smaller but would take twice as long to play a game. I don't know how the AI would handle it. Might be a worse opponent.
  23. In a perfect world, BFC would just tell us...
  24. I think that is when the announcement drops off the page.
  25. The OP may be calling the Commonwealth Module a CW Mod for short. The second poster means "me too comma me too"
