  1. I noticed that the first day and hoped it was a typo. They really need an English editor to go over the whole manual. Fortunately, the game is more polished than the manual.
  2. I have them all and still play ToW1 due in part to the large number of maps and units types available. Sort of the opposite of Afrika Korps, which never got the ole uber patch like the original.
  3. Thanks Smash for the post. It would have taken me a lot of playing to notice that stuff. Hope 1C reads it, too.
  4. The Esposito book I had was perfect bound, so thought it might be different. I wonder how much Livesay will set us back?
  5. "The West Point Atlas of War -- World War I" by B.G. Vince Esposito. I got it for $10 new and Barnes and Noble I think, maybe two years ago.
  6. In the meantime, I hope someone mods a TOW 3 chopper with an MG on it, even though unrealistic for those early battles...
  7. It is bizarre, and I feel for the OP and 1C. I have a relatively crappy Dell Quad core 2.6, 3 gigs ram and a retrofitted ATI 4650 and power supply. The darn game isn't lightening quick, but runs well enough for me. I am running XP, and read on these forums about a benchmark showing XP performing better than Vista or 7. I have never had a "freeze" like you, but will report it if I do. Best of luck with it. How does Kursk perform for you, assuming you have it?
  8. I assume we only need to save the army template and not the mission itself. I threw an SU-76m into the PRK artillery templates, so assume they may appear when generating a campaign, if I understand this right. Thanks!!
  9. Generated a fourth campaign and first scenario worked fine. Nice three-pronged assault by the AI. Battle ended with enemy remnants still on the map. Interesting post, Lemonade. Glad to see you were able to finish that long battle.
  10. I didn't create the scenarios; the strategic campaign generator within the game did. Three generated campaigns and the first battles of each one never ended. It also appears that mission files are not created for generated campaigns anymore that I can find, or I might have been able to view them and find the problem.
  11. It's hard to believe the age-old problem of scenarios going on forever because one enemy soldier remains alive somewhere... I created three new campaigns and could not finish the first battles on any of them because of this problem. And these were defensive battles. And there's no way to edit the scripting on these battles, either. Any suggestions?
  12. There is also an options in settings/game for "classic unit selection mode." So I'm stupid and blind... Thanks 1C
  13. Thanks Amps. They should really list these secret codes in the manual
  14. Is there still a way to select individual squad members? Not sure why they changed this, as a double-click or lasso selected them all, and there are advantages to sometimes selecting your bazooka guy only, etc.
  15. You guys are fine, I think. I was on the 1C site and saw XP wasn't listed: 1c.yuplay.com/story.php?title=Theatre-War-3-Korea-1 # Buy Theatre of War 3: Korea and download System Requirements: # Operating System: 64-bit Windows Vista or Windows 7 # Processor: Intel Core i7, i5 or AMD Phenom II (3GHz or better) # Memory: 4GB # Video card: nVidia GF 8800 or AMD Radeon HD 4850 with 512MB RAM or better # Sound card: DirectX 9-compatible # Hard disc: 3.5GB free hard disk space
  16. 1C doesn't list XP operating system, so wondering if it is still supported in ToW Korea...
  17. Thanks K. I am in, then. Might give it a week for things to settle down though.
  18. Magnum, does the game still include the more detailed editor included with the previous games, where you can script, etc.?
  19. I'm chewing on that SC2 WWI bone right now...
  20. Then I started playing the campaign game...and got very immersed. Guess I need to buy the full version so I can save my game! Thanks folks.
  21. I agree with Erwin. Real life historical scenarios can be one-sided or boring. It's a lot worse in some other games I can think of. But thank gosh it's pretty easy to create your own with CM:A.
  22. I have all the SCII's as well, and downloaded the demo. Quite nice you included the manuals, too. Perhaps I am spoiled by the details of WitE, which can be over the top, I admit. But the SC2 combat resolution is just so dry after so many games. "Boom-Boom" you're dead... At the least, I need to change the wav file for the combat! Even if there was some window-dressing text during resolution ("German I Corps attacks with 8,000 men...and is repulsed with 3,000 losses." The 1-12 numbers of the counters is just so simple that it ruins the immersion for me. The rest of the game looks great. A big leap forward from your last effort.
  23. The experience of two veteran boardgamers, you and brother, means a lot. And I must remember about the possible WW2 scenario down the line, huge map and the game editor, which is a must-have feature for me to purchase. Well, maybe we will see it this week! You may have "sold" a few more people than me on this thread. That's what the world needs more of, enthusiasm--and love, of course. Thanks.
  24. Thanks all of you. And I appreciate your detailed response, Xwormwood. I know you are a busy person and a somewhat "famous" one on this site. I know it sounds crazy, but I've never played an SC game MP. So I appreciate those insights. I will first learn the system and give it a go. Only other games I've played MP is FoG and BA over at Slitherine. The latter was pretty exciting. So I will look at this purchase as an investment in the future. There does seem to be a lot of excitement surrounding this release. Plus, CMBN and ToW Korea. Bless you, BF.
