  1. Took five minutes to download and a few minutes to install. Performance is amazing. Wow....I was a big fan of CMSF but wanted to see CM1 with the same engine. You guys didn't disappoint...I love it! I'm looking forward to a long summer of Nazi killing. Cheers, Battlefront! Well deserved.
  2. I don't get what everyone has against CMSF. I feel a much stronger attachment to the modern era, as these weapons (at least at the infantry squad level) are ones that I used when I was in the infantry. I don't know, I guess it is easier for me to connect with it, then I do with WW2. That's not to say that I will not find myself immersed in CMBN, but I don't think I will stop playing SF just because a new game is out. I think it's an awesome game.
  3. Take it easy, usgubgub, just foolin around. I've been playing lots of CM:SF - which is my favorite game, so I'm plenty occupied.
  4. I think I'm going to have to force myself into exile from this website for a few weeks. I check it almost every few hours and always leave a little disappointed.
  5. I understand that many of you love tanks and junk, but I want to see a much larger focus on infantry. I would love to see a Pacific module for CM or a Vietnam CM game. As far as CMSF I would like to see a module for light infantry (Airborne/Ranger). I'm sorry, but tanks and AFVs are just bullet-magnets...I prefer the QUEEN OF BATTLE.
  6. I was a grunt...which makes me a professional complainer. Sorry
  7. How would they not know the terrain in WW2? These guys poured over maps and sandtable terrain models endlessly so that they knew where things were. The problem is enemy troop disposition and placement - which the game replicates well. Intel would have an idea of what the opfor had and approximations of where, but those obviously aren't static. I don't see much of a lack of realism...btw, it is just a game though. Maybe if you're too awesome for the game you should play something else? Yes, I know, that was a jerk thing to say, but you have to admit, then tone of his post is deserving of this response.
  8. Looks like I'll be crying myself to sleep tonight.
  9. but we're all thinking this. Looks like no release for CMBN today. Bummer, too. My wife is out of town, my kids don't have any tournaments, and I'm finished with my end of semester grading. Was looking foward to celebrating Easter Day by killing Nazis. (edited by Battlefront)
  10. So I ended up buying it....my first foray into the TOW scene. It's pretty cool, but I must admit I'm annoyed with the focus on armor. Sure tanks are cool, but as a former grunt, I really like to play battles focused mostly on Infantry combat and tactics (which is mostly impossible with this game given how the custom missions limit the amount of infantry you can use in the OOB). My hope is that the expansion moves the Cold War from Korea to Vietnam and implements more infantry and the use of Air Cav tactics. I really love the helicopters on TOW Korea and see it as a great start. Imagine playing TOW with a line of Hueys loaded up with grunts choppering into a hot LZ. I can even see the use of Huey gunships for support and even MEDEVAC choppers called in to ferry out wounded. 1C, I hope you're reading this because you got something great with the chopper thing on TOW and you can revolutionize war games.
  11. Watched the videos and despite looking great, it doesn't give me a feel for the game like I want. I've played the demos to the others, but couldn't get into them like I wanted to - I'm a CMSF fan and it just feels very different. I was hoping that a change of venue to Korea would be different enough to turn me on to TOW. Or at least hold my interest until CMBN releases.
  12. When is the demo going to be released? I'm really interested in the game, but I will not purchase it unless I like the demo first.
  13. My operating system is windows vista and I'm worried that the game will not perform well because of this. Could someone (specifically Madmatt or someone dealing with the game development) tell me if the game is going to suffer when ran on Vista? Thanks... RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!
  14. Personally, I prefer infantry combat to armor. In fact, when I create my own CM scenarios there is slim to none in terms of tanks. I guess that's just the grunt coming out in me, but I would like to see the infantry heavy PTO get a chance. I think it is hard for us to judge whether it would be worthwhile if the theater hasn't been implemented properly in a game. (I know there is a mod for it, but I want a real company like BF to give it a go). RANGERS LEAD THE WAY! [ May 03, 2007, 01:44 PM: Message edited by: rangerj ]
  15. Oh, and to claim that it was easier to fight the Japanese is ludicrous.
